I didn't dislike 'Versions of Me', it enjoyed it's mixing of styles and it had some moments I really liked but there was just a few many songs that didn't appeal to me.

Thanks guys biggrin.gif

Album Chart

6. Danger Mouse & Black Thought - Cheat Codes

Highlights - Belize, Violas & Lupitas, Sometimes

7. The Weeknd - Dawn FM

Highlights - Don't Break My Heart, I Heard You're Married, Here We Go... Again

8. Tate McRae - I Used To Think I Could Fly

Highlights - What Would You Do, She's All I Wanna Be, Feel Like Shit

9. Ashe - Rae

Highlights - Another Man's Jeans, Shower With My Clothes On, Angry Woman

10. Freddie Gibbs - $oul $old $eperately

Highlights - Feel No Pain, Couldn't Be Done, Too Much

$oul $old $eperately is the best I've heard from Freddie and the concept really works. Even if it leads to some odd choice of guests in the skits, including Jeff Ross and Joe Rogan. Rae is a lovely album from Ashe and inspired me to buy a ticket to see her live next year. The downside was that over half of the album had already been released as promo singles so there were few surprised going into the album release date. I Used To Think I Could Fly is a solid debut from Tate but just doesn't have the same replayability as the strongest pop albums of the year. Dawn FM is my favourite Weeknd album since Starboy. The transitions between tracks are insane and really rewards listening to it as a whole rather than picking out select tracks. Cheat Codes was a collaborative project I hadn't been anticipating but listening to a couple of Roots albums for the Rolling Stones thread made me really fall in love with Black Thought's style and Danger Mouse's production is perfect for the legendary MC.

Album Chart

1. Charli XCX - Crash cheer.gif

Highlights - New Shapes, Lightning, Beg For You

2. Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

Highlights - We Cry Together, N95, Die Hard

3. Blackpink - Born Pink

Highlights - Pink Venom, Shut Down, Ready For Love

4. Taylor Swift - Midnights

Highlights - Lavender Haze, Midnight Rain, Anti-Hero

5. Sabrina Carpenter - Emails I Can't Send

Highlights - Nonsense, Fast Times, Read Your Mind

Emails I Can't Send is the first Sabrina album I've listen to on release and it didn't disappoint. I'm a big fan of her first 2 projects but this one blew them out of the water and really deserved to be what broke her into the charts. Maybe next time. Midnights is Taylor's return to pop and after initially not hitting me, it's ended up being one of my most spammed of the year. I don't like any of the bonus tracks though. Born Pink is by far and away my most played album of the year but it's short run time (a Blackpink trademark) means that it feels too slight and you just want a bit more from them. Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is the exact opposite. A dense album that leaves you feeling like you had some sort of experience by the end. Seeing Kendrick live for the first time this year was a big highlight. Crash was an early 2022 release and has managed to hold the #1 album for the rest of the year. The album is a masterpiece in efficiency. There is not a wasted second and every track feels more than essential.

Top 5 Most-Played Artists

1. BLACKPINK - 1,095 plays

01. Pink Venom - 177 plays
02. Ready For Love - 118 plays
03. Shut Down - 113 plays

2. Madison Beer - 941 plays

01. Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You) - 96 plays
02. Homesick - 59 plays
03. I Have Never Felt More Alive - 58 plays

3. Charli XCX - 885 plays

01. Lightning - 117 plays
02. New Shapes - 77 plays
03. Beg For You - 73 plays

4. Kendrick Lamar - 767 plays

01. We Cry Together - 84 plays
02. N95- 73 plays
03. Die Hard - 46 plays

5. Taylor Swift - 678 plays

=01. Lavender Haze- 61 plays
=01. Vigilante Shit - 61 plays
=03. Anti-Hero - 53 plays
=03. Midnight Rain - 53 plays

For the first time I'm basing this off my scrobbles on last.fm so there may be movement from #6-#20 but the top 5 look set in stone. Taylor Swift has dominated Q4 of 2022 and the recent dominance has scrapped her into the top 5. She also finished #5 in my top artists of 2021. Kendrick Lamar's album spawned 2 tracks that have been rinsed all year round but the length and complexity of the album has meant that I haven't listened to the album in full as much as I have with those from the other artists in my top 5. Charli XCX started off the year on fire and was leading this recently enough to actually be my #1 artist in my Spotify Wrapped for the year. Madison Beer is the only artists here who didn't release an album in 2022 although she does have one coming early 2023 so expect to her high again here next year. I listened to her 2021 album 'Life Support' every day for other a month in April/May after I saw her show and met her on Good Friday. BLACKPINK manage the rare feat of passing over 1,000 plays in a year and climb all the way to #1 after the release of their album in September and me seeing them live on 30th November and 1st December. I will be seeing them again next year at Hyde Park so I'm sure they will rack up many more plays in 2023.

The rest of the top 20.

06. Sabrina Carpenter - 543 plays
07. Tate McRae - 426 plays
08. Ashe - 360 plays
09. Ariana Grande - 348 plays
10. Stormzy - 337 plays

11. Dua Lipa - 312 plays
12. Maisie Peters - 301 plays
13. The Weeknd - 273 plays
14. Camila Cabello - 250 plays
=15. ITZY - 244 plays
=15. Olivia Rodrigo - 244 plays
17. The Jacka - 239 plays
18. Little Mix - 228 plays
19. J.I.D - 203 plays
20. Dave - 201 plays

2022 19 From The D 2 The LBC (Eminem & Snoop Dogg)

CeeLo Green's Chart History:
2022 08 The King And I (Eminem feat. CeeLo Green)

Kicking off my countdown is the team-up between Eminem and CeeLo Green for the Elvis soundtrack. It's certainly not Eminem's finest but even in his worst songs, he normally finds a nice little turn of phrase that really impresses and the one in here is using 'I believe in you' and 'I be leaving you' as homonyms.

119. Itzy - Snowy

Chart Run: 7-9-8- (3+ weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =108

2021 20 Gas Me Up
2022 06 Voltage
2022 01 Sneakers
2022 18 Blah Blah Blah
2022 04 Boys Like You
2022 10 Cheshire
2022 07 Snowy
2022 17 Freaky

This is Itzy strongest non-single track for me. One of their catchiest and still going strong in my chart.

118. Camila Cabello - No Doubt

Chart Run: 7-15-(x7)-19-20 (4 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =134

Lyric: Cause when shit is gettin' good, I just worry 'bout the bad again

Camila Cabello's Chart History:

2022 02 Psychofreak (feat. Willow)
2022 07 No Doubt
2022 02 Hasta Los Dientes (Camila Cabello & Maria Becerra)
2022 16 Quiet

Familia was unfortunately my least favourite of Camila's albums so far but this was one track that made an instant impression. If it would have been pushed as a single or received a video, I have 'no doubt' it would have made my top 100.

117. Kendrick Lamar feat. Summer Walker & Ghostface Killah - Purple Hearts

2021 01 Ex For A Reason (feat. JT)
2021 02 Unloyal (feat. Ari Lennox)
2021 07 Closure
2021 17 4th Baby Mama
2022 11 Purple Hearts (Kendrick Lamar feat. Summer Walker & Ghostface Killah)

Ghostface Killah's Chart History:
2022 11 Purple Hearts (Kendrick Lamar feat. Summer Walker & Ghostface Killah)

We have 3 tracks from the album in the top 100 but just missing out is the final track from disc 1. Summer Walker has one of my favourite singing voices so it was brilliant to see her get a whole verse. It was a nice surprise to hear Wu-Tang's Ghostface Killah with a feature too.

116. Ashe - Emotional

Chart Run: 14-10-15 (3 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =131

Lyric: I'm a million miles an hour and I'm never coming last

Ashe's Chart History:
2020 06 Moral Of The Story
2022 04 Not Mad Anymore
2022 11 Me Without You
2022 01 Another Man's Jeans
2022 07 Hope You're Not Happy
2022 01 Angry Woman
2022 04 Shower With My Clothes On
2022 10 Emotional
2022 19 omw

We have our first appearance from one of the breakthrough stars of the year in my charts, Ashe. This was the final track she released before 'Rae' and was the least successful of the pre-album singles. She has 4 entries in the top 100.

115. bbno$ - Mathematics

Chart Run: 20-(x2)-20 (2 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =217

Lyric: Big deal like T.J. Maxx

bbno$'s Chart History:
2019 01 Lalala (Y2K & bbno$)
2022 20 Mathematics

I've listened to this one a lot more than two weeks at #20 would suggest. One of the most overlooked rap hits of the year. Fun video, catchy hook and some decent punchlines.

114. Chlöe - Surprise

Chart Run: 10-10-15-19 (4 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =121

Lyric: I'ma make my neighbors proud

Chlöe's Chart History:
2021 01 Have Mercy
2022 01 Treat Me
2022 10 Surprise
2022 12 For The Night (Chlöe & Latto)

It has been diminishing returns so far for Chlöe but hopefully with the album presumably coming soon she will have a few more bangers to turn it around.

113. Charli XCX - Twice

Chart Run: 16
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =201

Lyric: When I let go, let my body ascend

Charli XCX’s Chart History:
2013 01 I Love It (Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX)
2014 01 Fancy (Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX)
2014 01 Boom Clap
2014 06 Break The Rules
2015 10 Doing It (feat. Rita Ora)
2016 09 After The Afterparty (feat. Lil Yachty)
2017 13 Boys
2018 08 Girls (Rita Ora feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charli XCX)
2021 03 Good Ones
2021 01 New Shapes (feat. Christine & The Queens & Caroline Polachek)
2022 01 Beg For You (feat. Rina Sawayama)
2022 03 Baby
2022 17 Every Rule
2022 01 Lightning
2022 05 Yuck
2022 06 Used To Know Me
2022 07 Constant Repeat
2022 16 Twice
2022 20 Move Me
2022 02 Hot In It (Tiësto & Charli XCX)
2022 08 Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)

At #113 we have an album track from my album of the year. This is actually the closing track to CRASH so leaves the album on a high. In what has really been the year of Charli, she has 8 entries to come in the top 100.

112. AJ Tracey - Seoul

Chart Run: 9-11-14-18-19 (5 weeks)
Official Peak: #58
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =116

Lyric: Cah the gang played with the birds like Gallagher

AJ Tracey’s Chart History:
2018 04 Butterflies (AJ Tracey & Not3s)
2018 05 Lo(v/s)er
2019 02 Psych Out
2019 13 Jackpot
2019 17 Double C's
2019 18 Country Star
2019 04 Fashion Week (Steel Banglez feat. AJ Tracey & MoStack)
2019 11 Ladbroke Grove
2019 04 Thiago Silva (Dave & AJ Tracey)
2019 02 Elastic
2019 03 Cat Pack
2019 03 Floss (feat. MoStack & Not3s)
2019 07 Halloween (feat. Young Adz)
2019 12 Zelda (feat. SahBabii & Safe)
2019 08 Kiss And Tell (AJ Tracey & Skepta)
2020 01 Dinner Guest (feat. MoStack)
2020 05 West Ten (AJ Tracey & Mabel)
2020 02 Ain't It Different (Headie One feat. AJ Tracey & Stormzy)
2020 01 Miss Me (MoStack feat. AJ Tracey)
2020 12 One More Time (AJ Tracey feat. MoStack)
2020 03 Yumeko
2020 05 Hikikomori
2020 13 No Chucks
2021 01 Bringing It Back (Digga D & AJ Tracey)
2021 09 Anxious
2021 01 Little More Love
2021 05 Top Dog
2021 11 Eurostep
2021 12 Kukoč (feat. Nav)
2021 07 Cherry Blossom
2022 02 Reasonable
2022 09 Seoul

AJ has seemed to have lost a lot of momentum in 2022 with neither of his releases making the top 40. I really like this one when I’m listening to it but forget about it as soon as it’s done.

111. Dove Cameron - Girl Like Me

Chart Run: 8-12-16 (3+ weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =127

Lyric: Nothing makes you smaller than being a big man

Dove Cameron’s Chart History:
2021 02 LazyBaby
2022 02 Boyfriend
2022 01 Breakfast
2022 06 Bad Idea
2022 08 Girl Like Me

Dove got a surprise breakthrough this year with ‘Boyfriend’ becoming a top 10 hit in the UK thanks to TikTok and she’s been consistent in my charts since with each of her singles since making my top 10. Both Dove & Sofia Carson are in my top 100 this year making it a surpisingly successful year for ex-Descendants cast members.

110. Monaleo & Flo Milli - We Not Humping

Chart Run: 19-(x2)-19 (2 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =206

Lyric: He comin' off way too pushy

Monaleo’s Chart History:
2022 19 We Not Humping (Monaleo & Flo Milli)

Flo Milli's Chart History:
2022 19 We Not Humping (Monaleo & Flo Milli)

At #110 we have the Flo Milli assisted remix of Monaleo's We Not Humping. This is a brash, exciting and aggressive collab between the two rappers and is backed my one of the most bouncy beats of the year.

109. Tobe Nwigwe & Fat Nwigwe - They Want It, But No

Chart Run: 20-15-17-17 (4 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =160

Lyric: My whole hood devout and vouch for the poems out of my mouth

Tobe Nwigwe's Chart History:
2022 15 They Want It, But No (Tobe Nwigwe & Fat Nwigwe)

Fat Nwigwe's Chart History:
2022 15 They Want It, But No (Tobe Nwigwe & Fat Nwigwe)

After the original Black Panther soundtrack was one of the best albums of 2018, the Wakanda Forever soundtrack was not able to live up to the same standards but one of the highlights came from husband/wife duo Tobe and Fat Nwigwe. This was perfectly used in the film and is a great hype track. Only one song from the soundtrack has made the top 100.

108. Alesso & Katy Perry - When I'm Gone

Chart Run: 8-5-4-8-12-19 (6 weeks)
Official Peak: #49
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =52

Lyric: When I'm gone, I'm never really gone

Alesso's Chart History:
2018 01 Let Me Go (Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso feat. Florida Georgia Line & Watt)
2022 04 When I'm Gone (Alesso & Katy Perry)

Katy Perry's Chart History:
2013 01 Roar
2014 02 Unconditionally
2014 01 Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)
2014 04 This Is How We Do
2016 05 Rise
2017 01 Chained To The Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley)
2017 01 Swish Swish (feat. Nicki Minaj)
2017 01 Feels (Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean)
2019 12 Con Calma (Daddy Yankee & Katy Perry feat. Snow)
2022 04 When I'm Gone (Alesso & Katy Perry)

One of the first hits in my chart in 2022, I don't think I've really thought about it at all since February. I still have some goodwill left over for Katy as she was a big part of my childhood but this is just a pretty generic dance track really.

107. Wet Leg - Chaise Longue

Chart Run: 5-16 (2 weeks)
Official Peak: #74
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =143

Lyric: I went to school and I got the big D

Wet Leg's Chart History:
2022 05 Chaise Longue

Certianly one of the more eccentric and unorthodox tracks of the year, maybe it was slightly too unorthodox to be a real hit. I think I overcorrected a bit when it entered my charts at #5 because it probably should have entered a week earlier and had a lower peak.

106. Mimi Webb - House On Fire

Chart Run: 13-6-10-19 (4 weeks)
Official Peak: #06
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =112

Lyric: I'll dye my hair, change my name

Mimi Webb's Chart History:
2021 19 Dumb Love
2022 06 House On Fire

I wasn't surprised to see this become Mimi's biggest hit as it definitely felt like her strongest release. I can't help myself from always chuckling at the line "If I'm caught I'd be out in a week. I got my story straight down to a T. Oh, I'd say, 'It wasn't me'". It doesn't sound like the strongest of alibi's Mimi.

105. Stormzy - Hide & Seek

Chart Run: 6-8-9-15 (4 weeks)

Lyric: Heartbreak's such a dark place, but we stay in it

Stormzy's Chart History:
2015 01 Know Me From
2015 01 WickedSkengMan 4
2015 01 Shut Up
2016 05 Keep It Simple (Raleigh Ritchie feat. Stormzy)
2016 06 Scary
2016 01 Power (Little Mix feat. Stormzy)
2017 01 Big For Your Boots
2017 06 Shape Of You (Remix) (Ed Sheeran feat. Stormzy)
2017 08 21 Gun Salute (feat. Wretch 32)
2017 09 Velvet / Jenny Francis Interlude
2017 08 Mr Skeng
2017 03 Cigarettes & Cush (feat. Kehlani)
2017 17 Don't Cry For Me (feat. Raleigh Ritchie)
2017 02 Cold
2017 04 Bad Boys (feat. Ghetts & J Hus)
2017 02 Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2 (feat. MNEK)
2017 04 Ask Flipz (Krept & Konan feat. Stormzy)
2018 02 Let Me Down (Jorja Smith feat. Stormzy)
2019 02 Vossi Bop
2019 01 Crown
2019 04 Sounds Of The Skeng
2019 02 Wiley Flow
2019 14 Keep Talking (Krept & Konan feat. Stormzy & Cadet)
2019 15 Own It (feat. Ed Sheeran & Burna Boy)
2019 01 Rainfall (feat. Tiana Major9)
2019 03 Audacity (feat. Headie One)
2019 05 One Second (feat. H.E.R.)
2019 10 Bronze
2019 12 Do Better
2020 16 Disappointed
2020 03 I Dunno (Tion Wayne feat. Dutchavelli & Stormzy)
2020 02 Ain't It Different (Headie One feat. AJ Tracey & Stormzy)
2020 14 Superheroes
2021 10 Skengman (Ghetts feat. Stormzy)
2021 04 Clash (Dave feat. Stormzy)
2022 01 Mel Made Me Do It
2022 06 Hide & Seek
2022 08 Interlude
2022 08 My Presidents Are Black
2022 10 Need You
2022 19 Give It To The Water

Hide & Seek features uncredited vocals from Nigerian artists Oxlade, Äyanna and Teni and is certainly pleasant but it's not not what we want from Big Mike. Nothing from the album has made the top 100 but Stormzy will still make two appearances.

104. Brooke - That's Rich

Chart Run: 15-13-10-15 (4 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =119

Lyric: I think it's funny how you miss me when you never knew me

Brooke's Chart History:
2022 10 That's Rich

Ireland's entry to Eurovision has my favourite this year and I thought it was incredibly unfair that Brooke never qualified from the semi-final. In the actual final, I was obviously team Sam but Chanel's SloMo was my favourite track and that has landed just outside my top 120.

103. Danger Mouse & Black Thought - Sometimes

Chart Run: 13-16-20 (3 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =166

Lyric: Drum solos from the hammers be mimicking speaking Spanish

Danger Mouse's Chart History:
2022 05 Belize (Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. MF Doom)
2022 08 Violas And Lupitas (Danger Mouse & Black Thought)
2022 12 The Darkest Part (Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. Raekwon & Kid Sister)
2022 19 Saltwater (Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. Conway The Machine)
2022 13 Sometimes (Danger Mouse & Black Thought)

Black Thought's Chart History:
2020 03 Yah Yah (Eminem feat. Royce da 5'9", Black Thought, Q-Tip & Denaun)
2022 05 Belize (Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. MF Doom)
2022 06 Violas And Lupitas (Danger Mouse & Black Thought)
2022 12 The Darkest Part (Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. Raekwon & Kid Sister)
2022 19 Saltwater (Danger Mouse & Black Thought feat. Conway The Machine)
2022 13 Sometimes (Danger Mouse & Black Thought)

We're at the point where I wouldn't have begrudged the tracks from making the main chart. This is such a catchy song from the legendary duo that wasn't instantly a highlight but grew on me massively. It really was a perfect way to start the album. It's only a 2 minute opener with one verse but Danger Mouse's classic production makes it essential. The pair have two entries to come.

102. Blackpink - The Happiest Girl

Chart Run: 8-16-16-15-16-19 (6 weeks)
Official Peak: n/a
End-Of Year Points Chart Finish: =112

Lyric: I can stop the tears if I want to

Blackpink's Chart History:
2018 01 Ddu-Du Ddu-Du
2018 04 Kiss And Make Up (Dua Lipa & Blackpink)
2019 02 Boombayah
2019 01 Kill This Love
2019 09 Kick It
2019 04 Don't Know What To Do
2019 17 Hope Not
2019 02 Playing With Fire
2019 03 Whistle
2019 05 As If It's Your Last
2019 05 Stay
2019 04 Forever Young
2019 18 Really
2019 19 See U Later
2020 01 Sour Candy (Lady Gaga & Blackpink)
2020 01 How You Like That
2020 01 Ice Cream (Blackpink & Selena Gomez)
2020 01 Lovesick Girls
2020 03 Crazy Over You
2020 05 Love To Hate Me
2020 09 Pretty Savage
2020 13 Bet You Wanna (feat. Cardi B)
2020 15 You Never Know
2022 01 Ready For Love
2022 01 Pink Venom
2022 01 Shut Down
2022 03 Typa Girl
2022 04 Hard To Love
2022 05 Tally
2022 07 Yeah Yeah Yeah
2022 08 The Happiest Girl

This has probably earned a top 100 placing through the amount of times I've streamed it but we needed one Blackpink track to miss out and this was my least favourite on the album. Don't feel too sorry for them though, the remaining seven tracks from 'Born Pink' are all safely still to come. This is unusual as it's a piano ballad from the group who's work is often backed with crazy production but this track allows their voices to shine.

101. J.I.D & J. Cole feat. Kenny Mason & Sheck Wes - Stick

Chart Run: 14-(x15)-18-15-17 (4 weeks)

Sheck Wes's Chart History:
2018 04 Mo Bamba
2022 14 Stick (J.I.D & J. Cole feat. Kenny Mason & Sheck Wes)

In the unluckiest position of the year for 2022 is the Dreamville track 'Stick'. Sometimes you don't need anything complex, just a mindless bop where the hook is just the word 'Stick' being shouted is enough. The video shows clips of a live performance of this song from the Dreamville festive and my god, the vibes look insane. Just look at how much fun everyone seems to be having. This is a song made to be performed live and I would have killed to have been at the festival. JID, Cole and Kenny all have songs still to come but this is the last we'll see of Sheck Wes.
