The chart peaks (currently) for the tracks on Now 117 are grim reading...

Also, just for some interesting trivia, here is how things stand with the current most appearances (15+ appearances) in the Now series; 1. David Guetta {38} 2. Calvin Harris {37} 3. The only good thing about the re-issues is that it has better sound quality but in all honesty, they should’ve stopped at Now 9

The only good thing about the re-issues is that it has better sound quality but in all honesty, they should’ve stopped at Now 9 Indeed. I’d rather purchase a second hand copy of the original releases after Now 9 (which I did) in order to have all the original tracks without gaps. I don’t see an end in sight at least this year as far as re-issued volumes goes, but I might suggest Now 20 is a good place to end from where they are, as that’s when the branding changed to the current format. Aside from future releases, as things stand today, I’d anticipate the following tracks will make a late feature in the Summer release, Now 118, if they continue to maintain their chart run for a little bit longer; Dua Lipa – Training Season Tate McRae – exes Charli XCX – Von dutch SZA – Saturn Djo – End Of Beginning Michael Marcagi – Scared To Start Noah Kahan & Sam Fender – Homesick Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man – Lovers In A Past Life Justin Timberlake – Selfish Kygo & Ava Max – Whatever Selena Gomez – Love On twenty one pilots – Overcompensate Pharrell Williams feat. Miley Cyrus – Doctor (Work It Out) Ariana Grande – we can’t be friends (wait for your love) FLO – Walk Like This |

Also, so many samples connect this album to so many other NOWs. Off the top of my head we have: Ella Henderson feat. Rudimental - Alibi / Coolio feat. L.V. - Gangsta's Paradise (NOW 32) Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday Girls / Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun (NOW 2) Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Murder On The Dancefloor (Not a sample, but was previously on NOW 51) David Guetta & Kim Petras - When We Were Young (The Logical Song) / Scooter - The Logical Song (NOW 52) If I've missed any, let me know. Jason Derulo & Michael Bublé - Spicy Margarita / Shaft - (Mucho Mambo) Sway (Now 44) and Girls Just Want To Have Fun also appeared on Now 102 and a reworked version appeared on Now 29 and also, why remove Tina Turner’s name from the Now 17 cover when she’s still on the CD? According to Wikipedia, the next yearbook will be 1974. If that’s the case, then they’ll announce it tomorrow with a release date of 19th April and I think they’re doing it 70s, 80s, 90s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 1987 will be announced after that for a June or July release

1974 is the next yearbook and it’s due for release on 3rd May. Bit late isn’t it? I was expecting it to be 19th April and it seems they’re doing it 70s, 80s, 90s. I reckon 1987 is gonna be the next 80s yearbook as 1974 is gonna be the next 70s yearbook as 1977 would’ve been the next 70s yearbook if 1987 isn’t gonna be the next 80s yearbook. I reckon it will go 1974, 1987, 1991, 1977, 1989, 1993 but here it is https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CY3HPWRV/

Waterloo missing but a couple of other Eurovision songs on here. Since when did that track become difficult to license?

Waterloo missing but a couple of other Eurovision songs on here. Since when did that track become difficult to license? Maybe they might include it on the extra edition as they do usually appear on compilations. I hope Ray Stevens, The Osmonds and ABBA which are the only missing #1s get included on the extra edition. I reckon ABBA will only license Waterloo if it gets track 1 but because Queen are already track 1, that’s probably why Waterloo got left off and Now Yearbook Extra 1974 will more likely kick off with either Waterloo or Seven Seas Of Rhye This post has been edited by Hadji: 22nd March 2024, 12:24 PM |

Managed to get mine on Saturday in HMV as two branches of Asda had the gaps on the tiny chart wall and labels out for Now 117 and Now 17 but neither had the CDs out by 5pm on Friday, which shows how much of a priority music is for them these days. When I used to work in the music section in Asda in 2008-10, we used to work late after close on Sunday to update all the charts!
Been listening now, and it feels like there's a few bigger/current hits than usual at the start, but also a few songs I don't understand the inclusion of, like Ilsey's No California? I guess it's leaning into the Radio 2 crowd, but I don't recall this being an iTunes success even like, for example, Georgia Ku was. This post has been edited by gooddelta: 8th April 2024, 11:06 AM |

At least they didn’t go overboard on the r2 artists like they did with the previous one and look how much that sold in its first week even though it was released near to Christmas. I reckon Now 117’s first week sales will be more than Now 116’s. Went to my local Asda today and they had Now 117 but Now 17 was sold out

Given that Now 117 was released last week, what songs would you say are as good as guaranteed to feature on the next release?
I’ve got quite a large list of chartworthy tracks so far and it seems like many of them will have to be omitted when newer releases come out in the coming couple of months. |

All good suggestions. I would think the following are also very likely to have a place;
Ariana Grande – we can’t be friends (wait for your love) Tate McRae – exes Charli XCX – Von Dutch SZA – Saturn Jungle – Back On 74 Michael Marcagi – Scared To Start Benson Boone – Slow It Down Meghan Trainor feat. T-Pain – Been Like This David Guetta feat. OneRepublic – I Don’t Wanna Wait |

Next spin-off will be Now 80s Dancefloor: R&B & Funk which is due for release on 17th May but no tracklist has been announced yet and it’s another vinyl only album. In my opinion, they should just stop with these 80s dancefloor vinyl only spin-offs https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CZWLY74Y/

I don’t usually post about non-UK Now compilations, but this one just announced in the US is looking exciting from the cover artwork;
I have no idea what Volume 1 was, but with artwork like this it makes me wish we had something more interesting to celebrate than what we had for the 40th anniversary last year. |
