She really is getting better with every album and taking so much more risks and I'm really here for it as she stands out so much in this pop landscape. This is a wonderful listen with some absolutely incredible production. So many late track switch ups which are all epic, L'AMOUR DE MA VIE is obviously a big standout in this regard, but I think my favourite that hasn't been shouted out a lot is BLUE, the transition from hazy club vibes to epic strings was brilliant, in fact the last three tracks are all great with the menacing vibes of DINER and the journey of BITTERSUITE. Definitely appreciating some clear earliy 2000s dance vibes in the style of Daft Punk as well as a fair amount of trance. I agree that it's a perfect length and the seguing songs make it feel like an intentional body of work.

Omg at that Pitchfork review calling 'L'Amour De Ma Vie' the "nadir of the album"
Are they on drugs? |

Hated that Pitchfork review, hate it when an artist releases her best and most cohesive work, as opposed to the last album which was great but lack cohesiveness and felt almost like Now 68 as every track was in a different direction
but instead of critics calling it cohesive they call it repetitive :/ morons :/ |

Agreed - the last two minutes of 'BLUE' are stunning. These three "weirder" closing tracks along with CHIHIRO are my favourites on the album. Bit Radioheady (Kid A/Amnesiac/In Rainbows). Love all the turns and surprises A few of the tracks like SKINNY, THE GREATEST and WILDFLOWER haven't clicked with me much yet. But such a strong album overall. |

Pitchfork gave Born to Die by Lana a 5.5 so let's not take them seriously at ALL.

Feel like I can properly rank this now
1 BIRDS OF A FEATHER 2 L'AMOUR DE MA VIE 3 THE GREATEST 4 WILDFLOWER 5 THE DINER 6 CHIHIRO 7 SKINNY 8 LUNCH 9 BITTERSUITE 10 BLUE The whole top 7 are 10/10, the only one I'm not connecting to is Blue |
