So I decided the countries approach is definitely worth the try so we are doing that for a change.
In the last 20 years 48 countries participated in ESC. I put all of them into TWELVE heats. So you will have to listen to 4 countries' entries per heat / week. Given you most likely know the majority of entries already it's not really a big deal at all. And if you participate in every heat you will come out of this with a full knowledge of ALL Eurovision entries from 1995 until 2014. *.* Shockingly, that's something the majority of Eurofans can NOT say about themselves! So let us start this. 14 weeks 48 countries (34 with 11-20 participations; 14 with 2-10 participations) 12 heats 2 songs advance to the Semifinals from each country with 11+ participations 1 song advances to the Semifinals from each country with 2-10 participations 82 semifinalists 2 Semifinals 40 Finalists 1 Winner ;;; HEAT 01 UNITED KINGDOM 1995 > Love City Groove - Love City Groove 1996 > Gina G - Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit 1997 > Katrina and the Waves - Love Shine a Light 1998 > Imaani - Where Are You? 1999 > Precious - Say It Again 2000 > Nicki French - Don't Play That Song Again 2001 > Lindsay - No Dream Impossible 2002 > Jessica Garlick - Come Back 2003 > Jemini - Cry Baby 2004 > James Fox - Hold On to Our Love 2005 > Javine Hylton - Touch My Fire 2006 > Daz Sampson - Teenage Life 2007 > Scooch - Flying the Flag (for You) 2008 > Andy Abraham - Even If 2009 > Jade Ewen - It's My Time 2010 > Josh Dubovie - That Sounds Good to Me 2011 > Blue - I Can 2012 > Engelbert Humperdinck - Love Will Set You Free 2013 > Bonnie Tyler - Believe in Me 2014 > Molly - Children of the Universe [zippy] ______ DENMARK 1995 > Aud Wilken - Fra Mols til Skagen 1996 > Martin Loft & Dorte Andersen - Kun med dig 1997 > Kølig Kaj - Stemmen i mit liv 1999 > Michael Teschl & Trine Jepsen - This Time I Mean It 2000 > Olsen Brothers - Fly on the Wings of Love 2001 > Rollo & King - Never Ever Let You Go 2002 > Malene Mortensen - Tell Me Who You Are 2004 > Tomas Thordarson - Shame on You 2005 > Jakob Sveistrup - Talking to You 2006 > Sidsel Ben Semmane - Twist of Love 2007 > DQ - Drama Queen 2008 > Simon Mathew - All Night Long 2009 > Niels Brinck - Believe Again 2010 > Chanée & N'evergreen - In a Moment Like This 2011 > A Friend In London - New Tomorrow 2012 > Soluna Samay - Should've Known Better 2013 > Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops 2014 > Basim - Cliché Love Song [zippy] ______ PORTUGAL 1995 > Tó Cruz - Baunilha e chocolate 1996 > Lúcia Moniz - O meu coração não tem cor 1997 > Célia Lawson - Antes do adeus 1998 > Alma Lusa Se eu te pudesse abraçar 1999 > Rui Bandeira - Como tudo começou 2001 > MTM - Só sei ser feliz assim 2003 > Rita Guerra Deixa-me sonhar (só mais uma vez) 2004 > Sofia Vitória - Foi magia 2005 > 2B - Amar 2006 > Nonstop - Coisas de nada (Gonna Make You Dance) 2007 > Sabrina - Dança comigo 2008 > Vânia Fernandes - Senhora do mar (Negras águas) 2009 > Flor-de-Lis - Todas as ruas do amor 2010 > Filipa Azevedo - Há dias assim 2011 > Homens da Luta - A luta é alegria 2012 > Filipa Sousa - Vida minha 2014 > Suzy - Quero ser tua [zippy] ______ GEORGIA 2007 > Sopho Khalvashi - Visionary Dream 2008 > Diana Gurtskaya - Peace Will Come 2010 > Sopho Nizharadze - Shine 2011 > Eldrine - One More Day 2012 > Anri Jokhadze - I'm a Joker 2013 > Sopho Gelovani & Nodiko Tatishvili - Waterfall 2014 > The Shin & Mariko - Three Minutes to Earth [zippy] ______ UK, Portugal and Denmark - 2 qualifiers. Georgia - 1 qualifier. ______ You may vote in ANY or ALL of these four sub-heats. You do that by forming your 10 favourite songs from each country. You must use the traditional Eurovision voting system (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point). If a country had less than 10 participations between 1995 and 2004 then you must rank ALL of their entries but still use the same voting system described earlier. For example, if a country has only 7 entries then your votes will be 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4 points. Vote via PM to Conderella. You have until 23:59 March 22nd, 2015. |

I think this is a good way of doing it. As much as I STAN FOR SVERIGE it's going to be nice not having the majority of entries in the semis/final from 4 or 5 countries.

I must not forget to vote. Hopefully this post will remind me of it.
I am enjoying the zippys though, I only have random and mostly poor quality mp3s pre-2011. (so yes at an opportunity to bolster the collection) |

(so yes at an opportunity to bolster the collection) I downloaded that 1956-2009 pack off torrents once and have been updating it ever since. The old entries are technically not HQ but they are really the best one can get~ |

Voted.
UK - obviously stronger in the 90s, but it's getting the point where Love City Groove is still well in the top 10 of our last 20. Which is fine, I like the quirkiness of it but it does prove the point. Weirdly 'That Sounds Good To Me' didn't sound so abysmal listening to it for the first time properly in like 5 years, but I am still ranking it below Cry Baby. I'd definitely be giving Electro Velvet points were we doing 2015 as well. Denmark - I think of them as the weakest Nordic nation and there are a few bad entries in here, like Talking To You, but it's mostly rather nice stuff, Shame On You particularly sounds way ahead of its time, and of course the winners are both great. Georgia - Been very hit-and-miss so far, definitely the weak link in the Caucasus, but they're also the most inspired, most of the time, just a shame their 'experiments' don't often work out. Portugal - Oh Portugal, I'm really rooting for them to send something truly great... sometime. At least we get the nations whose entries are a bit of a slog out of the way first. (let's get Pavel more votes for this~) |

Listening to Portugal's entries put me in a coma, but I should be able to vote later today.

The Portuguese entries are actually not that bad overall. Plus, pretty much everything from 2008 onwards (apart from a MEH-fest from 2011) has been AMAZING.

Why are Denmark so great at pop, and so shit at ESC?
Also letting us vote for Kun Med Dig but not We Don't Wanna Put In, hmmmm. This post has been edited by Tom Kaymakoski: 20th March 2015, 12:07 PM |

Despite Eurovision's stance on those entries I think it's fair to count them in. Georgia 2009 however never took part in anything Eurovision-related since it was disqualified before the thing started.

And the late 90's were ALL ABOUT the UK |

Reminders sent to everyone I thought would be interested in this.
The next round is coming today though because I won't have time to format and upload and all that shit tomorrow! Results still happening tomorrow afternoon or evening though. Next heat will consist of Spain, Turkey, Finland and San Marino. #justice4sertab #Dimetowintbh Week 3 is Sweden so get your mops ready for getting rid of ALL THE BLOOD AND TEARS THERE WILL BE LEFT AFTER THIS *.* |

I got bullied into voting for this, but some of these are downright embarassing. Especially UK '99
Can't wait for The Netherlands so I can serve some of our entries some justice EDIT: Byeee 2006 is an ultimate low This post has been edited by *Tim: 22nd March 2015, 12:03 PM |
