BuzzJack Legend Joined: 18 July 2012 Posts: 22,989 User: 17,376	5th May 2024 It's Nonetheless track New London Boy on top, which sounds very much like an autobiographical Neil Tennant stroll down 70's and 80's memory lane with all the sense of lost past that us older folk get, not to mention a drop-dead gorgeous melody, to give Pet Shop Boys a 49th number one, just 3 behind The Beatles now on my charts. Their other album tracks all climb too, Feel rocketing to 5, a real grower that one, while next single A New Bohemia climbs a mere 18 places to 56. Still time to rethink it boys! Ben Hemsley is up 3 to 3 with Closer, and the chart remains hugely packed and competitive and extended as Eurovision starts to make it's presence felt with Sweden's Marcus and Martinus twins' Unforgettable at 68 - no-one does dancepop so consistently classy as Sweden. Condolences to Malta's Sarah Bonnici who failed to make the final, she wuz robbed given the handful of pap that qualidied instead, but Loop is classy dance at 72. meanwhile, Benjamin Ingrosso had a triple mash-up of songs on semi 1 and enters with the last song, Honey Boy at 69 aiding the always-good Purple Disco Machine. Majestic mash-up Celine Dion and The Whispers rhythm track to surprisingly good effect, not quite as good as And The Beat Goes On, but better than I'm On Fire. Duane Eddy 50's guitar legend died this week, sadly, having charted in April as part of Mark Knopfler's Guitar Heroes charity track, and in tribute his best early song Because They're Young drops in at 85 and 80's smash Peter Gunn Art Of Noise remake a but higher at 74. Thanks for the picks Ya Ya sounds like it is introducing part 2 of the album - Nancy Sinatra is thrilled she used the Boots sample, which is lovely for her to see it still being relevant, glad you like it! Yes you were right to be unsure about Dizzy - looked like we were left-hand side of the scoreboard for about 10 minutes there. Sounds like folk weren't happy with the Boxing theme for the public vote The Schlager song I think is based on being and about in Berlin when they recorded it, but I hear Schlager music all the time in German bars in Gran canaria when I'm on holiday. Loads of live singers and beer n singalongs and sedate dancing - usually older folk. Alessia was a good track, you've been on a BJSC roll of late I think, one goodie after another! My work, after 4 whole years, have finally discovered the invention of the radio. Unfortunately, it appears to be stuck on Heart. And the same 15 songs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. If I''m forced to hear Lose Control by Teddy Swims one more time I may have to end up being arrested (yes I did quite like it at first. Not any more! ) Fantastic chart as always Hi AH! Radio at work can be a sweet n sour experience, it's great to have music but yes after a while you get to hate some records, I still have fond memories of a hosiery workhouse in the summer of '79. They had Radio 1 on all day, but in the end you get to know some records backwards and start frothing at the mouth Poor you, Heart FM!! I don't have much tolerance for hearing the same track too often (3 or 4 times a week is enough on new tracks!) even ones I love. Glad you like Kasabian, I think it's their best record and they need to properly promote it to Radio 2 Yes, sadly Pet Shop Boys will never chart again without a big name collab I expect, in the singles chart.
