dont recall either of those chart-toppers I must say! Other than that some bleedin classics enter the last 2 charts there: 2 of them will be popchartfreak number ones, and the other one deserved to be - that one was Grace Not Over Yet, which I love more now than I did at the time, and it was fab at the time. One of the key dance tracks of the 90's for me. I pretty much like all of the new entries that I recall (which is all of them, bar Hole, who I generally wasn't predisposed towards...) Both chart toppers are good, though incredibly dated And agree about Grace, I also like Not Over Yet a lot more now than I did then. |

I like Deuce (share this # 1 with you, it's screaming Eurovision winner), Samantha Fox (didn't heard before) and Those 2 Girls were # 2 in my chart (behind Shampoo).

TLC, Portishead and especially the otherwise annoying Mark Morrison are my choices of the new entries, good top 10. Bryan Adams I have a lot of time for, he's great in concert, willing to step into dance music and keep a low profile, and a thoroughly nice bloke - which is why I forgive him for his dirges like this one

Thanks Yes, Deuce should have been chosen to represent the UK at that year's Eurovision. I think you'll like the Samantha Fox one. Worth checking out. |

Agree with you about good ol' Bryan. It's far from his best (surprised it even made my top 40 to be honest). But he was immediately forgiven when I heard Don't Give Up for the first time, and Cloud No.9 to a lesser extent, probably helped by the fact Chicane produced both. |

* First track to get a third week at No.1 this year is the Eurovision winner that never was (probably) * I must have been a fan of MOR back then, as following Mike & The Mechanics into the top ten goes Joshua Kadison * Following big top ten hits with completely forgettable follow ups are MN8 and Scarlet * A Madchester classic gets the first of several remix treatments as Stone Roses enter at No.15 * 1 (1) Deuce - I Need You 2 (7) MC Sar & The Real McCoy - Love And Devotion 3 (2) Kingmaker - You & I Will Never See Things Eye To Eye 4 (14) Strike - U Sure Do 5 (4) Sox - Go For The Heart 6 (3) Corona - Baby Baby 7 (6) Tina Arena - Chains 8 (5) Grace - Not Over Yet 9 (NE) Joshua Kadison - Jessie 10 (8) Crash Test Dummies - The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead 11 (15) Love City Groove - Love City Groove 12 (9) Human League - One Man In My Heart 13 (11) Those 2 Girls - All I Want 14 (12) Take That - Back For Good 15 (NE) Stone Roses - Fool's Gold '95 16 (13) Snap! ft Summer - The First The Last Eternity 17 (16) Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game 18 (10) The Centre - The Centre 19 (20) Usura - Open Your Mind 20 (17) Lightning Seeds - Marvellous 21 (NE) Let Loose - Best In Me 22 (NE) MN8 - If You Only Let Me In 23 (21) Alex Party - Don't Give Me Your Life 24 (24) Outhere Brothers - Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle) 25 (23) Rednex - Old Pop In An Oak 26 (22) Dionne Farris - I Know 27 (NE) Scarlet - I Wanna Be Free (To Be With Him) 28 (27) Tin Tin Out ft Espiritu - Always Something There To Remind Me 29 (26) Mike & The Mechanics - Over My Shoulder 30 (28) Apollo 440 - Don't Fear The Reaper 31 (31) Sophie B Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down 32 (19) Brownstone - If You Love Me 33 (33) Moby - Everytime You Touch Me 34 (35) Bucketheads - The Bomb (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind) 35 (34) Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo 36 (18) TLC - Red Light Special 37 (NE) Boyzone - Key To My Life 38 (NE) Del Amitri - Driving With The Brakes On 39 (NE) Prizna ft Demolition Man - Fire 40 (29) Alysha Warren - I Thought I Meant The World To You Goodbye: 25 (NE) Portishead - Sour Times 30 (NE) Mark Morrison - Crazy 32 (NE) Bryan Adams - Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman 36 (32) Deuce - Call It Love 37 (33) Sharon Forrester - Love Inside 38 (NE) Boyz II Men - Thank You 39 (36) Junior Reid - Listen To The Voices 40 (31) Luther Vandross - Ain't No Stopping Us Now |

* Deuce get a 4th week on top with I Need You - no track will spend longer at No.1 this year * A famous Guiness ad propels Guaglione into the chart, while '84 classic Ain't Nobody enters a couple of places lower, thus beginning the regular habit of old tracks appearing in my chart for no apparent reason whatsoever * Adina Howards freaks her way into the lower reaches of the 40. The track will end up doing much better seven years later thanks to some Sugababes and a Tubeway Army sample 1 (1) Deuce - I Need You 2 (9) Joshua Kadison - Jessie 3 (2) MC Sar & The Real McCoy - Love And Devotion 4 (7) Tina Arena - Chains 5 (3) Kingmaker - You & I Will Never See Things Eye To Eye 6 (5) Sox - Go For The Heart 7 (6) Corona - Baby Baby 8 (4) Strike - U Sure Do 9 (8) Grace - Not Over Yet 10 (10) Crash Test Dummies - The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead 11 (11) Love City Groove - Love City Groove 12 (NE) Mark Oh - Tears Don't Lie 13 (NE) Perez Prez Prado - Guaglione 14 (19) Usura - Open Your Mind 15 (NE) Rufus & Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody 16 (12) Human League - One Man In My Heart 17 (13) Those 2 Girls - All I Want 18 (15) Stone Roses - Fool's Gold '95 19 (17) Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game 20 (16) Snap! ft Summer - The First The Last Eternity 21 (20) Lightning Seeds - Marvellous 22 (NE) Weezer - Buddy Holly 23 (14) Take That - Back For Good 24 (21) Let Loose - Best In Me 25 (NE) Winx - Don't Laugh 26 (NE) Oasis - Some Might Say 27 (24) Outhere Brothers - Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle) 28 (18) The Centre - The Centre 29 (37) Boyzone - Key To My Life 30 (NE) Gems For Jem - Lifting Me Higher 31 (NE) Adina Howard - Freak Like Me 32 (23) Alex Party - Don't Give Me Your Life 33 (25) Rednex - Old Pop In An Oak 34 (29) Mike & The Mechanics - Over My Shoulder 35 (NE) Paul Weller - The Changingman 36 (26) Dionne Farris - I Know 37 (NE) Thunder - Castles In The Sand 38 (28) Tin Tin Out ft Espiritu - Always Something There To Remind Me 39 (35) Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo 40 (NE) Bjork - Army Of Me Farewell: 22 (NE) MN8 - If You Only Let Me In 27 (NE) Scarlet - I Wanna Be Free (To Be With Him) 30 (28) Apollo 440 - Don't Fear The Reaper 31 (31) Sophie B Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down 32 (19) Brownstone - If You Love Me 33 (33) Moby - Everytime You Touch Me 34 (35) Bucketheads - The Bomb (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind) 36 (18) TLC - Red Light Special 38 (NE) Del Amitri - Driving With The Brakes On 39 (NE) Prizna ft Demolition Man - Fire 40 (29) Alysha Warren - I Thought I Meant The World To You |
