Thermo's hot hits | EOD 2010-2019 EOY threads 2010-2019 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 A Very Merry Listmas! We're coming close to the end of the decade and so alongside the EOY I will be running a separate thread to showcase the best of the decade. The EOD chart will be commencing sometime in January but until then I'll be doing a few other rewind-y things... starting with a recap of the #1 singles of the past decade. Until then you can predict which songs and artists you expect will be announced as my biggest smashes in Thermo's hot history! |

Thermo's hot hits | Number Ones Recap | EOD 2010-2019
taking a look through each #1 single of the past decade 2010 #1 Caspa - Back For The First Time 30/08/2010 1-4-4-12-15-18-14-13-15-19-25-29-33-40-47-x 15 weeks Context: Chart began on this date when I also signed onto Buzzjack. I also made backdated charts to the start of 2010 but I no longer count those as being official. This recently released dubstep instrumental track became my first #1 narrowly beating Taio Cruz' 'Dynamite' (#2) and Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup 'We No Speak Americano' (#3 - but would've been #1 for a few weeks beforehand, and was also the EOY #1 for 2010). Did It Deserve #1? No. I should've given it to 'We No Speak Americano' as that really deserved an 'official' #1 peak in my chart, but the song was a few months old by that time. #2 Cee-Lo Green - F*ck You 06/09/2010 1-1-1-1-3-3-3-3-4-8-14-11-15-17-23-29-25-23-15-19-21-30-35-38-32-28-33-35-39-45-41-x-47-49-x 33 weeks Context: Massive hit in the waiting by Cee-Lo Green eventually becoming my EOY #2. It denied Taio Cruz of a #1 with him eventually spending 3 weeks at #2. Did It Deserve #1? Definitely. I don't revisit it much now but it was a big fave at the time. #3 will.i.am - Check It Out (feat. Nicki Minaj) 04/10/2010 26-1-2-5-5-5-7-2-6-12-21-28-33-29-25-29-32-35-41-48-49-50-46-49-50-x 24 weeks Context: This being just a year after what would've been two massive #1s for The Black Eyed Peas in 'Boom Boom Pow' and 'I Gotta Feeling' was always going to smash for will.I.am. Did It Deserve #1? Probably not. I should've given it to the week's #2 'Barbra Streisand' really, but that did eventually go #1. #4 Tinie Tempah - Written In the Stars (feat. Eric Turner) 11/10/2010 48-14-7-2-2-4-1-4-6-10-17-23-26-32-40-50-x-42-43-48-x-47-x-47-x 21 weeks Context: Tinie was a big fave for me in 2010, with 'Pass Out' and 'Frisky' also being backdated #1s. This gave him a third big smash. Did It Deserve #1? No, I should've given it to Tinie's 'Miami 2 Ibiza' with Swedish House Mafia instead, which sat at #4 this week and climbed to #2 for the following 2 weeks. #5 Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand 18/10/2010 9-6-2-5-1-1-2-3-6-5-4-13-18-17-18-23-22-32-34-41-48-49-45-38-41-47-x 26 weeks Context: One of the year's big dance hits by Armand van Helden & A-Trak's collab project. Did It Deserve #1? Yes, although I prefer 'Miami 2 Ibiza' now so that should've also been a #1. #6 The Black Eyed Peas - The Time (The Dirty Bit) 01/11/2010 1-4-1-2-3-4-1-6-11-6-6-6-8-16-14-19-25-37-40-39-42-48-x 22 weeks Context: The Black Eyed Peas' big comeback. Was a guaranteed #1 from the moment I heard it. Did It Deserve #1? Yes. It's not quite their best but I'll still say it was deserved. #7 Willow Smith - Whip My Hair 08/11/2010 21-1-7-13-23-30-19-41-x-45-x 9 weeks Context: First and only hit from a young Willow Smith. Did It Deserve #1? Absolutely not. This is the #1 I most regret, particularly as it denied Rihanna getting there with 'Only Girl' and I recall it was very close between the two that week. #8 Far*East Movement - Like a G6 (feat. Dev & The Cataracs) 22/11/2010 18-3-5-8-7-10-9-9-4-1-1-3-8-14-21-19-19-20-20-28-25-25-27-23-30-31-34-37-35-x-50-50-x 31 weeks Context: Breakthrough hit from Far*East Movement which would remain their biggest hit by some distance here. Did It Deserve #1? Yes. Still one of the best songs of 2010. #9 David Guetta - Who's That Chick (feat. Rihanna) 06/12/2010 5-14-19-27-29-27-34-37-40-27-1-2-5-8-5-3-5-3-7-13-18-21-20-13-11-9-12-14-19-16-22-29-33-37-50-x 35 weeks Context: First #1s in this chart from both David Guetta and Rihanna although they likely would've had a few each before I joined Buzzjack. Did It Deserve #1? Yes. Still one of their best and I'm glad they produced at least one great song together. #10 Rihanna - What's My Name (feat. Drake) 20/12/2010 37-3-4-2-2-4-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-8-10-5-5-9-15-17-20-27-25-21-23-24-29-41-46-49-x 31 weeks Context: Peak Rihanna, and after her X Factor performance this quickly zoomed up to #1. It denied the year's winner Matt Cardle a #1, alongside tracks from deadmau5/Wolfgang Gartner, Avicii/Sebastien Drums, Armand van Helden/Steve Aoki and... Britney Spears! Did It Deserve #1? Yes. It remains one of her best tracks. That Avicii track really should've been a #1 too although he'd eventually get more than plenty of those. What was your fave #1 from Thermo's hot hits in 2010? |

'Who's That Chick' and 'What's My Name' dominating those last few weeks of 2010 was the best. I still love both songs!

My taste was very different then also, I was more into chart music than I am now, most of those #1s wouldn't get there in today's climate.

Did not realise Duck Sauce was a collaboration between those two but Barbara Streisand was a real tune anyway
Like A G6 is probably my favourite from that list though, one of the few songs that caught my attention back when I wasn't particularly into chart music. |

2011 - Pt. I
#1 Rihanna - S&M 07/02/2011 8-8-11-14-2-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-1-3-4-4-6-9-10-9-13-19-14-12-18-18-19-23-34-30-30-33-36-45-46-42-45-49-x 38 weeks Context: Rihanna's controversial third single from 'Loud'. Held off tracks from Tinie/Ellie, Chase & Status/Liam Bailey, Wiz Khalifa (Black and Yellow) and Jennifer Lopez/Pitbull during its lengthy run. Did It Deserve #1? Definitely, it's one of her best tracks. #2 Lady Gaga - Born This Way 21/02/2011 9-1-2-2-4-5-6-6-6-7-10-14-17-22-30-20-23-34-37-44-44-x 21 weeks Context: Lady Gaga's much hyped comeback single from album of the same name. Did It Deserve #1? I'd say so, although I prefer S&M, this is still one of her best in my view. #3 LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem (feat. Lauren Bennet & GoonRock) 04/04/2011 30-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-3-4-4-11-14-10-10-10-7-11-13-7-14-19-33-35-39-42-38-36-33-46-41-47-44-50-x-42-47-44-44-x-41-44-47-x 45 weeks Context: LMFAO's breakthrough megasmash. As Rihanna did also, it held off Wiz Khalifa and Jennifer Lopez from the top, and additionally it held off Alexandra Stan (Saxobeat), Lady Gaga (Hair) and Nero (Guilt). Did It Deserve #1? Absolutely! Especially as it ended up as my EOY #1 and is to this day one of the most successful songs in Thermo's hot hits. #4 Lady Gaga - Judas 25/04/2011 1-5-5-7-14-12-10-13-16-21-15-21-27-29-29-29-47-50-x 18 weeks Context: 2nd single from Lady Gaga that era. Did It Deserve #1? No, it should've been another week for LMFAO. Especially considering the 1-5 drop it had. Although I'd still rank this amongst her top songs. #5 Pitbull - Give Me Everything (feat. Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer) 06/06/2011 30-40-34-36-40-22-4-1-1-2-1-1-7-12-20-20-20-16-27-19-17-28-25-30-36-42-47-41-39-50-x 30 weeks Context: Big hit from Pitbull at his peak of significance. Did It Deserve #1? Definitely. Although it denied Calvin a #1 with 'Bounce' in its later run, which it really shouldn't have. #6 Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me 20/06/2011 24-29-23-12-6-12-5-1-3-5-9-9-13-13-17-21-33-29-23-27-33-47-x 22 weeks Context: Example's biggest hit. Did It Deserve #1? Yes, he'd never top this, although Stay Awake came close. #7 Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts 11/07/2011 1-2-6-6-5-4-5-3-4-10-13-36-46-32-27-19-15-11-14-19-24-31-45-x-47-x-43-x 25 weeks Context: Breakthrough hit from Christina Perri and first ballad to reach #1 in this chart. Did It Deserve #1? No, the #1 should've gone to Calvin Harris with 'Bounce' that week. Although this did end up also having a chart run worthy of its peak too. #8 Sak Noel - Loca People 18/07/2011 1-5-5-7-10-32-7-3-3-1-1-1-1-2-6-6-9-17-13-17-16-25-27-34-36-36-46-48-42-x 29 weeks Context: Big Eurohit which debuted at #1 then returned there once it got its UK release. It denied #1s for Maroon 5 (Jagger), Nicole Scherzinger (Wet) and LMFAO (Sexy) during its run. Did It Deserve #1? Definitely. Don't go back to it much now but was obsessed at the time. |

2011 - Pt. II
#9 LMFAO - Champagne Showers (feat. Natalia Kills) 25/07/2011 42-47-43-x-47-x-33-1-1-3-8-23-30-48-x 12 weeks Context: LMFAO's direct follow-up to PRA that mostly got to #1 from hype but hasn't aged too well. It denied Nicole Scherzinger the #1 with 'Right There'. Did It Deserve #1? No. #10 Rizzle Kicks - Down With The Trumpets 08/08/2011 32-8-8-1-1-2-6-14-19-23-38-48-41-49-44-49-x 16 weeks Context: Breakthrough hit from rap duo Rizzle Kicks that was also my first birthday #1. It denied Loick Essien #1 with 'How We Roll' on both weeks. Did It Deserve #1? No, this also hasn't aged too well. Neither has the Loick Essien track but I'd put that at #1 over this. #11 Nero - Promises 22/08/2011 26-17-17-24-24-22-22-1-4-5-6-10-18-28-30-38-39-41-x 18 weeks Context: Third big Nero single which launched their album (2011's AOTY). Did It Deserve #1? Yes, it's such a good song. #12 Chase & Status - Hitz (feat. Tinie Tempah & Wretch 32) 29/08/2011 31-x-17-29-36-x-21-14-14-8-5-3-1-1-1-6-16-25-20-29-31-27-43-48-49-x 23 weeks Context: Chase & Status collab with my fave rapper of the time Tinie Tempah, plus an additional Wretch 32 verse added for the single mix. It denied Emeli Sandé (Heaven) and Example (Stay Awake) of #1s. Did It Deserve #1? Yes, although 'Blind Faith' should've been a #1 here too as I prefer that. #13 will.i.am - T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) (feat. Jennifer Lopez & Mick Jagger) 17/10/2011 1-1-3-10-27-x-42-x-32-x-42-40-40-25-17-37-18-12-23-25-32-42-41-36-42-44-47-x 24 weeks Context: Another big will.I.am track back when his name meant an easy hit on my chart. It actually made #1 from a leaked version, before returning for a lengthier run from its official release. Did It Deserve #1? No. #14 Labrinth - Earthquake (feat. Tinie Tempah) 31/10/2011 45-2-3-3-3-1-1-3-7-3-4-7-9-14-24-30-21-38-33-42-49-x-50-x 22 weeks Context: Labrinth's biggest hit in my chart again helped by a Tinie feature. Did It Deserve #1? Yes, although it held off Rihanna's 'We Found Love'. Ideally this would've been #1 during Will's run before Rihanna replacing it for these 2 weeks. #15 Avicii - Levels (feat. Etta James) 14/11/2011 12-1-1-1-1-1-2-3-3-1-4-7-18-27-33-36-43-39-47-49-49-46-46-38-27-39-39-48-x-41-x-1-3-3-9-10-10-11-16-21-24-33-29-65-62-70-69-41-67-95-x-16-16-20-24-33-44-x 54 weeks Context: Avicii's first #1 which would end up being his biggest hit here, although not his longest running with it getting just 6 weeks initially before returning for a week in 2018. It continued to hold off Rihanna/Calvin, as well as denying #1s for Lloyd (Dedication To My Ex), TEED (Garden) and Nadia Ali (Pressure). Did It Deserve #1? Absolutely 1000%. #16 Little Mix - Cannonball 19/12/2011 1-1-8-10-32-x 5 weeks Context: Winners of X Factor that year back at the show's peak era. Did It Deserve #1? No, especially not up against 'Levels'! I did love it a lot during those 2 weeks but it predictably fell off fast in the new year. |

No joke, I've played Give Me Everything VERY regularly since I saw Pitbull supporting Britney last summer what a tune *.* it's a proper tune and one that will be making another appearance in this thread in the chart, possibly even in the Hottest 100 alongside 'On The Floor'! |

Party Rock Anthem was my Mainstream Song of 2011, I don't go back to it at all now sadly and I do think a lot of my love for it came from the fact that everyone at school was obsessed with it but it is still a very good song. Changed The Way You Kissed Me is a really good track as well, I always love dance & rap in the same song so Example was right up my street.

2012 - Pt. I
#1 High Contrast - The First Note Is Silent (feat. Tiesto & Underworld) 02/01/2012 25-28-11-18-19-19-15-17-5-1-7-12-23-35-x 14 weeks Context: Given a boost from being on a compilation I got for Christmas to reach #1 for drum n' bass man High Contrast. Did It Deserve #1? No, should've been 'Levels' again, which returned to #1 the following week. #2 Jessie J - Domino 16/01/2012 23-39-6-1-3-3-13-14-10-11-14-21-26-33-33-33-23-21-20-20-24-41-46-x-44-x 24 weeks Context: Big release from Jessie J and her only #1 on my chart. Did It Deserve #1? No, it held off the Avicii remix of 'Rapture' which it really shouldn't have done, although this is one of Jessie's best songs and I definitely did prefer it at the time. #3 Swedish House Mafia vs. Knife Party - Antidote 23/01/2012 46-x-21-15-5-13-16-1-6-9-13-16-16-17-24-22-25-29-23-30-39-45-45-49-x 23 weeks Context: Swedish House Mafia's 4th release which finally got them a #1 on this chart. Did It Deserve #1? Yes although I prefer One and Miami 2 Ibiza which weren't #1s to this. #4 David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium 30/01/2012 6-8-9-15-27-x-40-32-6-2-1-1-3-2-2-12-9-18-19-25-29-28-30-25-25-35-24-36-34-45-38-24-25-17-27-25-32-28-35-x 38 weeks Context: David's biggest hit in my chart. Sia held the top 2 with 'Wild Ones' at #2 during its first week with Alyssa Reid being held off in its second week. Did It Deserve #1? Absolutely. If anything it deserved more weeks at #1. #5 Gotye feat. Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know 13/02/2012 31-8-8-8-5-3-1-1-1-5-3-3-4-12-12-13-19-18-18-17-28-33-33-34-39-26-27-29-37-41-33-29-29-38-36-50-40-46-50-x 39 weeks Context: Massive hit from Gotye, his only one in my chart (and in most charts). Did It Deserve #1? Definitely. One of my fave non-EDM songs of the decade. #6 Emma Hewitt - Colours 05/03/2012 8-13-8-1-2-7-12-13-17-41-x 10 weeks Context: BJSC potential which eventually was an entry but not mine. Still made it to #1 here however following its win. Did It Deserve #1? No, the #1 should've gone to Madeon's 'Icarus' (#2 that week). #7 Nicki Minaj - Starships 12/03/2012 19-4-3-1-4-8-10-5-8-9-16-16-23-42-42-x-40-31-29-32-32-26-19-20-27-30-x 25 weeks Context: Signature hit from Nicki Minaj during her pop era. Did It Deserve #1? Don't go back to this very often as it's rather dated, but considering its long chart run and that the rest of that week's top 3 had already been #1 I'd say yes (although again I'd put Madeon at #1 over this now). #8 Swedish House Mafia - Greyhound 19/03/2012 1-2-1-1-1-1-3-3-1-2-9-29-44-48-35-26-20-35-29-34-37-46-x-33-22-46-41-49-x 27 weeks Context: Big instrumental hit from Swedish House Mafia and their biggest on my chart. Was also #2 in my EOY. It held off #2s from Alexandra Burke (Elephant), Madeon (Icarus), Breathe Carolina (Blackout) and Carly Rae Jepsen (Call Me Maybe). Did It Deserve #1? Absolutely. #9 Loreen - Euphoria 26/03/2012 12-5-1-3-8-10-17-40-40-43-x-7-x 11 weeks Context: Eurovision winning track and the biggest Eurovision related song of the decade. Did It Deserve #1? Yes, it's a very good dancepop tune and worthy of the hype Buzzjack gave it. #10 Avicii - Silhouettes 30/04/2012 1-1-2-6-7-6-7-14-21-24-14-28-20-30-23-28-35-17-26-27-24-48-x-14-28-48-78-x 26 weeks Context: Follow-up single to 'Levels' so was always going to be an easy #1, but it still holds up well in his discography now. It continued to hold off Carly from #1. Did It Deserve #1? Definitely. (2012 was an oddly big year for #1s so there'll actually be three parts to this) |

Check It Out was a number one on your chart? Oh dear I really liked any will.I.am/BEP single around that time. It's a rather catchy song too.At least most of the other number ones here are pretty good. PRA still such a good track, it's going to be very very high in my EOD.. Absolutely loved CTWYKM as well, that will be top 100.Antidote all three are amazing but have to say Greyhound is a fair bit better than Antidote imo.
Somebody That I Used To Know and Greyhound are also brilliant! |

Did It Deserve #1? Yes I think this was rather underrated. #12 Pitbull - Back In Time 28/05/2012 14-1-1-3-8-7-16-28-16-28-39-x 11 weeks Context: Pitbull's tie in with the MIB 3 film. Andreea Banica) 18/06/2012 19-4-1-4-10-25-23-31-x 8 weeks Context: BJSC entry for me from a duet between Romanian dancepop singers. Did It Deserve #1? No. It's decent for what it is but shouldn't have been #1. #14 Flo Rida - Whistle 25/06/2012 47-24-24-2-2-1-2-1-2-3-10-11-19-22-50-44-39-33-42-45-43-49-x 22 weeks Context: Massive hit from Flo Rida. Rihanna) 02/07/2012 37-8-3-2-1-2-7-10-11-21-25-x 11 weeks Context: Nearly anything with Rihanna would be big around this point and this was no exception despite Coldplay not usually doing well for me. Did It Deserve #1? It wouldn't have been #1 if Rihanna wasn't on it so in that respect no but it's still one of Coldplay's best and is a fairly unique #1 here so in that respect yes. #16 Cheryl "Call My Name (prod. by Calvin Harris) 16/07/2012 12-16-41-31-18-10-6-3-1-5-8-8-20-37-x 14 weeks Context: Cheryl's comeback which was helped by Calvin Harris producing it, also giving Calvin his first #1. Did It Deserve #1? Yes it's a banger. #18 Cedric Gervais - Molly 31/07/2012 8-15-36-8-1-3-3-18-16-40-x 10 weeks Context: Novelty dance track with robot vocals. Did It Deserve #1? No, the rest of my top 5 that week were better songs. #19 Porter Robinson - Language 06/08/2012 21-7-5-11-3-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-8-14-26-x-36-x-32-41-46-48-42-44-31-34-x-34-35-x 26 weeks Context: Breakthrough for Porter Robinson and my EOY #3 for 2012. It denied #1 for Sam and the Womp (2 weeks at #2 with Bom Bom). Did It Deserve #1? Gangnam Style was a fab song, my mainstream song of the year back when I didn't really listen to much music And of course One Pound Fish Man remains iconic.
