MIXTAPE OF THE YEAR
Caprisongs by FKA twigs It was either this or Greentea Peng's Greenzone 108, but I stuck with Twigs, cause her mixtape resonated with me a little more. The Piri and Tommy mixtape might have a chance The new mixtape from FKA twigs sees her take on an experimental style of pop similar to what Charli XCX did in her recent material. There are some weird vocal effects but the production compliments her higher vocal range. We also have some lo-fi piano beats and even a track where she sings over a drill beat. It doesn't reach the excellence of her two studio albums but I still thought it was a great listen Mixtape Hall Of Fame: 2018: Bobby Tarantino II by Logic [I only listened to one mixtape from that year, but I liked this one anyway] 2019: Angel's Pulse by Blood Orange 2020: Send Them To Coventry by Pa Salieu 2021: Sad Night Dynamite by Sad Night Dynamite 2022: Caprisongs by FKA twigs Note: Mixtapes now count towards my albums countdown due to an error I made last year. The first half of my Albums Of 2021, included TAPE 2/FOMALHAUT by BERWYN, which I did not realise was a mixtape until after I finished the list. I had a choice between removing it from the list or just allowing mixtapes to be counted on my albums countdowns. I settled on the latter. Mainly focusing on those that reached their peak between December 2021 and November 2022, meaning that Messy In Heaven and Golden Hour will appear on next year's list instead.
