I’ll take it! Just slightly down on last year’s NYD episode but at least it’s relatively on par with this year’s Christmas Day ratings. Should be over 6m consolidated.

I think that's quite good for Doctor Who - I expected around 4m based on its recent downward trend and the fact everything seems to be rating on the low side this festive period.
It's a bit worrying that The Serpent couldn't beat Doctor Who despite the lack of competition in the 9pm slot, whilst Doctor Who faced a similar rating Emmerdale in its slot. |

I think Dracula suffered in the same timeslot last year but then had a massive increase in the consolidated ratings. I doubt The Serpent will do the same as Dracula benefited from word of mouth but it might rise once its in its proper timeslot.
Not seen it yet but I’m looking forward to it! |

Very happy with that for Doctor Who! A perfectly respectable figure for this day and age, especially following a very divisive series finale where some of the audience could easily have switched off.

Much better for The Masked Singer! I don't think we'll be seeing it launch during Christmas week again.

Boris making an early play for highest rating of the year - around 2m shy of the March 2020 combined figure across all channels.

Despite the high figures, I expect it won't be commissioned for a series

Looks like EastEnders achieved 4.4m last night whilst the second episode of Coronation Street was watched by 5.2m at the same time. At the start of both programmes, 6.2m were watching BBC 1 and 5.3m were watching ITV, which shows EastEnders' audience plummeted across the half hour whilst Corrie remained steady.
The Chase achieves a new high with 5.05m viewers. Some ratings for Sunday: A Perfect Planet on BBC 1 was watched by 5.8m and Beat the Chasers on ITV was watched by 4.3m. |

Some ratings for Sunday: A Perfect Planet on BBC 1 was watched by 5.8m and Beat the Chasers on ITV was watched by 4.3m. I actually think Beat The Chasers is underperforming slightly given how well the main show is rating at teatime. Hopefully it increased last night with more viewers around and a Corrie lead-in. EDIT: It was 4.3m again last night so at least it held up at the same figure. I still think it should be higher! Traces got 3.7m on BBC One which is very good considering it's a show which originally aired on Alibi in 2019 and wouldn't have been acquired by BBC One if not for Covid. |

I suppose The Chase is fun, easy watching whilst people are having their tea; 9pm might be a primetime spot but I can see why it's not resulted in more viewers. Similarly, a successful drama at 9pm probably wouldn't have anywhere near as many numbers if aired at 5pm.

4.48m for EastEnders last night, slightly up on Monday which I didn't expect. Traces was watched by 2.8m, down 900k on Monday, and Staged followed with 1.6m.
Over on ITV, 2.1m watched Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: A Very Major Scandal and Beat The Chasers continued with 3.7m. BBC iPlayer report for the festive period with record breaking figures: https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/2021/festiv...custom2=twitter |

Unless that's actually average streams for a whole programme, in which very impressive! |
