It may or may not come as a surprise, but I've been on a bit of a Boy Band binge lately. Got me thinking, we all know Buzzjack's love for girl groups (they ARE superior - soz not soz) but what is the general consensus towards boy bands?
Do you have a favourite boy band? What are some of your boy band bops? Is there a group you don't particular care for but they have an absolute BANGER in their discography? |

(do we count McFly as a boy band these days?) I've been a McFly stan from day one, and Busted almost just as much. But if we mean boy bands in the traditional sense (i.e. manufactured) then it would have to be the 90s ones: East 17, Let Loose, Take That, 911 (in that order). I love Five, I've always had such a massive soft spot for them.
 Backstreet Boys and The Wanted too. Oh, and 1D of course but perhaps a bit less than the others. |

Five, Backstreet Boys, Busted, A1 and I'm impartial to some Boyzone songs too and 1D too. I'd also throw The Vamps in too as I've enjoyed a lot of their output.
Least faves would be JLS, never liked a single song of theirs. |

The only boybands I've ever really cared for are Backstreet Boys, Busted, The Wanted and most recently Why Don't We.

Take That and Boyzone are my favourites by far.

It's so odd to me coz whilst I can latch onto a girl group with the snap of my fingers, I find it hard to do the same with boy bands and like 95% of them are a song by song basis for me. My favourite boy band ever is *NSYNC (I have all their albums and like all of them) and then Busted are up there too (depending on if you wanna include them or not) but most the other groups I don't really dislike but they seem to have a handful of songs I enjoy a lot.
A1 (at least on a singles front) have barely put a foot wrong for me and ofc bands like Backstreet Boys, 5ive, Blue etc.. Will do a list of some of my fave songs later, but I think each boy band has at least a couple of pop essentials for me! |

One Direction and The Wanted are the boy bands that I actually went beyond the singles and really enjoyed every album they released too, so they have to be my top two. Take That probably completes my Top 3!
There's countless boy bands that I've enjoyed many singles from but never really explored their albums, maybe one or two in some cases, but not the full works. |

Too much JLS slander in this thread tbh. They had some not so good songs but I think they probably have the best ratio of songs that I'd be happy to listen to out of any boyband. Blue have a good number of bops too ('Fly By II' is probably my favourite song by any boyband, Five's 'Keep On Movin'' close behind).
Interesting to see McFly and Busted being brought up here as I would never have considered them to be 'boybands' really. edit: same with post-comeback Take That actually, if we count TT2.0 as still being a 'boyband' then 'Patience' > the above mentioned songs. 'Back For Good' is a fave from TT1.0, I'm not a big fan of much else from their 90s releases though |

See I've always loved boybands as well as girl groups equally. In terms of the ones I am solidly invested in, it's always been Take That, JLS, McFly, Blue, Five, Busted, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and A1. I also loved Damage as well, I thought they were brilliant.
