Mikey’s Reload Top 40 Chart – 9th April, 2006



Chart Commentary
Embrace remain at No.1 for a 3rd week running, their album ‘This New Year’ is their best yet with some great tracks and lots of potential singles from it, with Gnarls Barkley runner-up at No.2 with his infectious hit ‘Crazy’. Coldplay climbs a further 10 places to No.8, with ‘The Hardest Part’, taken from their million selling album X&Y, a very awe inspiring track. Franz Ferdinand has had quite a ride in the chart, at one stage it dropped out of the chart, and now it has finally peaked at No.10 after 11 weeks in the chart, with ‘The Fallen’, with its driving, muscular, guitar riff over a typically irresistible disco/rock beat. The highest new entry of seven comes from Snow Patrol in at No.11. They have return with a powerful track called ‘You’re All I Have’ taken from their forthcoming brand new studio album ‘Eyes Open’. The Raconteurs, Fall Out Boy, Wigham, Katie Melua, Deep Dish feat. Stevie Nicks and Rihanna make up the rest of the new entries inside the top 40. And before you ask why Rihanna, its catchy, once its in your head you can’t get rid of it, and it uses a sample from the 80s track ‘Tainted Love’ by Soft Cell, a little bit of chart trivia for ya.
