Pooch Perfect did better than I thought, it looked like another sub-2m flop from the trailers. Solid as ever for Death In Paradise! They did well to get that produced and ready for its usual January slot.

I was expecting higher / a bigger timeshift for episode 1 of The Serpent after Black Narcissus opened with 7.16m (5.71m and 5.42m for episodes 2 and 3).

The Pembrokeshire Murders was watched by 6.3m (33.1%) on ITV, the channel's biggest overnight drama rating since Vera in 2018 and the channel's biggest overnight for a new drama since The Durrells in 2016.

Series 3 of Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad launched with 4.8m.

On BBC 1, Traces dropped another 900k episode-on-episode to 1.9m (down 1.8m on last Monday).

Soap ratings:

Coronation Street 5.8m
Emmerdale 5.1m
EastEnders 3.6m

Not sure if that's the first or second episode of Corrie.

The Pembrokeshire Murders concluded with 6.7m (36.1%), bringing the series average to 6.3m. Has anyone watched it? I tried watching the first episode but couldn't get into it.

Another rating for Tuesday: EastEnders rated 4.1m.

I'm surprised The Pembrokeshire Murders increased that much for its final episode. I tried a bit of episode 1 but also didn't think it was anything special? There have been better dramas recently that have rated worse, but true crime + ITV always seems to be a winner!

Reminds me a bit of The Salisbury Poisonings on the BBC last year - nothing particularly special / very little online hype but rated very well.

I suppose it benefited from little opposition - if it was up against Silent Witness, I guess they would cancel each other out and rate 4-5m. As you say though, true crime dramas do seem to capture the public's interest.

On BBC 1, 2.3m for Pooch Perfect (down 400k) and 5.6m for Death in Paradise (down 600k). On ITV, top episode of Emmerdale rated 4.7m (not sure which of the two episodes), followed by 2.8m for The Martin Lewis Money Show and 3.5m for The Pembrokeshire Murders: Catching the Gameshow Killer.

Top programmes in the consolidated ratings for the week of 4-10 Jan 2021 (including devices)

01. Prime Ministerial Statement - 14.08m / 14.33m (BBC) + 5.45m / 5.48m (ITV)
02. BBC News (Mon 20:10) - 11.05m / 11.13m
03. Death In Paradise - 8.32m / 8.42m
04. The Masked Singer - 7.27m / 7.32m
05. Coronation Street (Mon 19:30) - 6.78m / 6.88m
06. A Perfect Planet - 6.35m / 6.44m
07. Countryfile - 6.32m / 6.34m
08. Emmerdale (Mon) - 5.88m / 5.94m
09. The FA Cup (Sun 16:30) - 5.69m / 5.76m
10. EastEnders (Tue) - 5.25m / 5.40m

A couple of big ratings on Channel 4 - Gogglebox (5.14m / 5.21m), 24 Hours In Police Custody (4.45m / 4.57m). 24 Hours In Police Custody seems to have come from nowhere with a stonking rating?! The second episode was only slightly lower.

I can possibly only see an England match in Euro 2020 (do we officially call it Euro 2021?) and maybe Line of Duty or I'm A Celeb topping that by the end of the year.

A strong start for Death In Paradise, which is up around 300k year on year and very good for The Masked Singer (one of its highest ever ratings there).

2 million for 3pm on a weekday must be much better than average for that slot - I presume that cracking a million would normally be good for that timeslot? I wonder if it's the show itself that's picking up an audience, or whether it's just because there's more people at home than usual.

A bit of both, Winning Combination in the last lockdown was definitely a bit lower IIRC.

Yes it was higher than Winning Combination and Tenable which has also aired in that slot. I think 1m would indeed be a good result for that time of day, a lot of shows don't even break that if I think back to times where I've previously seen daytime ratings.
