At the risk of displeasing Bré with inevitable stats requests from participants, I thought it would be fun to share and compare some national statistics.

I admired the work that went into presenting BJSC 137 by Doctor Blind back in 2021 with interesting statistics for all participating nations at the time, and I wanted to try and replicate some of these stats now for a new era of participants.

But this is what it looked like at the time for a couple of examples;



Of course the presentation and detail was second to none, and we thank Doctor Blind for such attention to detail back then! heart.gif

But now we are well past that time, what has changed for you, can you see progress or decline in your nation's history?

Great idea, though for some of these we can include the current BJSC (e.g. number of Qs, DNQs) and some we can't until after the final - and if you only joined BJSC this year, that could change things a lot laugh.gif

The 'hit rate' with this calculation would be interpreted as your nation gets a top 10 hit on average every [x] number of contests. Think it would be more intuitive to calculate it the other way round (as the Doctor Blind graphics did) but magic.gif

Also I did indeed misunderstand the Hit Rate formula. I always assumed it meant how many Top 10 finishes you have had in the total number of appearances you’ve had and the result is your success percentage. I guess I got that one muddled up somehow. unsure.gif

For a % the number of contests would need to be the divisor, but the other way works as bray says as a „I finish top 10 every x contests“

Hit Rate- was just (No of Top 10 finishes divided by total number of entries) * 100 to get it as a percentage rather than a decimal. So for example, for Pavel it would be 'never', divided by 'too many' xx

I think when I was working on these originally I also had a 'Hipster Smoothie' rating that was out of 10.
