Following the success of 'Twenty Twelve' that was spoof satire of a team helping to organise the 2012 London Olympic Games, W1A premiered last year and featured two of the main characters as they helped out in the running of the BBC. Ian Fletcher (Hugh Bonneville), formerly the Head of the Olympic Deliverance Commission, took up the position of Head of Values at the BBC. His task is to clarify, define, or re-define the core purpose of the BBC across all its functions and to position it confidently for the future. Siobhan Sharpe (Jessica Hynes) also returned as the Brand Consultant. David Tennant also helped return to narrate the mockumentary.

The series returns for it's second series tonight with a one hour long episode that will be followed by two half-hour episodes in the following two weeks.

QUOTE
A one-hour special marks the return of the award-winning comedy about the BBC. One year on and head of values Ian Fletcher has finally got his own office. He and the team have a new set of challenges to rise to, including the impending royal visit of HRH Prince Charles. The question is, which of the management team will get to shake the royal hand?

Head of BBC brand Siobhan Sharpe and her team at Perfect Curve have been tasked with giving a makeover to the BBC coverage of Wimbledon following rumours of a bid from a rival broadcaster. Her response is a brand mash-up to end all brand mash-ups.

Meanwhile, over on the creative frontline, entertainment-format producer David Wilkes is trying to come up with the next big factual-entertainment series after Britain's Tastiest Village failed to fly. He's got the title - Up Town, Down Town - he just hasn't got a show or a cast.

Finally, intern Will Humphries's security pass won't let him into the building. Is it a technical problem or something more significant?

The series recently hit headlines as it includes a segment about Jeremy Clarkson getting himself into trouble, that was written before the fracas occured. Watch out for a smart edit that resulted from this real-life fallout.

The first series was great (as was Twenty Twelve, particularly the second series). The second series of W1A also got off to a good start. You have to love the glorious incompetence of everyone, with the loveable dimwit Will up there (or should it be down there) with the best of them.

Oh my goodness, this is exactly what I needed on a boring Sunday night (watched the repeat). I somehow managed to miss the entire first season, but Twenty Tweleve was obviously AMAZING. My favourite line was ''they are still aware time is passing. Literally by the minute'' and just about everything Sarah Parish said, which was largely ''yes'' to be fair. The whole run around trying to get out of OBH/NBH was also brilliant.

A lot of David Tennant's lines are brilliantly vacuous and delivered in a wonderful deadpan manner.

I missed all of series one but this was GLORIOUS. Jessica Hynes's character from Twenty Twelve is obviously the highlight of the show but even people like Sarah Pascoe in the focus group were hilarious.

Yeh it was a great return! Siobhan Sharpe will NEVER get old and I love all the one liners in the narration.

I just wish there were more episodes. sad.gif

So sad this has ended now, it really is one of my favourite comedy shows. I love how the cast work together so well and who knew simple words like 'yes', 'exactly' and 'better' would be so funny? Aside from Jessica Hynes, I have to say that Sarah Parish really stands out for me.

The fact is, I love it.

(also, I'm not being funny right, but this is the best British comedy on TV)

We'll just have to hope for another spin-off. Perhaps Ian Fletcher could get a senior role in DExEU (the Department for Exiting the EU) laugh.gif

'no, yes. The fact is I'm not drunk.'

so happy this is back. It has the most simplistic yet also over-complicated dialogue and is able to come together brilliantly. I can imagine about 5 words/phrases taking up about half the script laugh.gif

The writing shows incredible foresight - they even managed to put out Episode 3 when this incident made the news!
