Joseph's Hit 250 | Year-End 2016 (click the picture below!)
Chart Commentary Up a huge 37 places this week to the top spot is a collaboration between three dance music heavyweights, coming together for the fantastic Shed a Light. Robin Schulz & David Guetta are the lead artists on the track, and both get their first EVER #1s each, and it features Cheat Codes, who claim their second #1 (third for member Trevor Dahl, who is on vocal duty once again on this track). Robin Schulz's previous peak was #17 for Francesco Yates collaboration Sugar at the end of 2015, meaning this is also his first top 10 hit. This is only his third chart hit so far, discounting Prayer In C which I listed as the worldwide credit of Lilly Wood & The Prick, with Schulz listed as the remixer. David Guetta on the other hand has had numerous chart hits since my chart began at the end of 2011, with his highest peaking being last year's Hey Mama, which got to #3. Cheat Codes previously scored a #1 just two months ago with Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On), and this is only their second chart hit to date. Robin Schulz 2014 40 Sun Goes Down (feat. It is the fourth single from his second album Wrong Crowd, but his fifth top 10 hit, including the title track which served as a promotional single. It outpeaks previous singles Concrete and Here I Am instantly but doesn't match the #1 peak of Magnetised yet. Silhouette also features on Tom's upcoming Christmas EP, entitled Spending All My Christmas With You, due out next Friday. The EP also includes previous hit Real Love, which was not featured on Wrong Crowd. (1+ weeks) Just below Tom is another new entry, from Daniel Skye. No Party is Daniel's fourth top 10 hit out of four so far, and it matches his personal best of #5 set by second hit Smile. It goes one better than Good As It Gets, his last release, which peaked at #6 in its second week. Daniel is one of the few artists in my chart history to have a 100% top 10 hit rate, with no tracks peaking between #11-40 so far - in fact, he has matched the record for most top 10 hits without a single #11-40 hit, with only four. He ties Rixton, who achieved four consecutive top 10 hits and nothing else between 2014 and 2015. Remember though, many of my most successful artists have charted with album tracks! If we only count official singles, the result would certainly be different. (1+ weeks) Also this week, George Shelley scores his second top 10 hit in as many weeks, as new track Soldier goes straight in at #7, a new personal best for him as a soloist. Also achieving new personal bests this week are Remy Ma, Rag'n'Bone Man and Lost Kings. All three of those artists are experiencing their first hits, although Rag'n'Bone Man's Human is a re-entry after charting at #39 two weeks ago and dropping out. As December arrives, so does Mariah! All I Want For Christmas Is You arrives back for a fourth consecutive year, looking towards nabbing a fourth Christmas in the top 10 and yet another new peak. Will she achieve it? Will it finally hit the top spot? We'll find out in the coming weeks... SEE ALSO Chart Runs - all chart runs sorted by artist Archive - all previous charts |

Hey Joseph,
Wow what a massive climb for Shed A Light, a worthy #1 which I truly hope does well between now and the beginning of 2017! Rag'N'Bone Man re-enters this week then, and a new entry from Zara Larsson looks promising for her too! If you'd like to view my own personal chart, created 2nd December 2016, the link is HERE. I'd love to hear your views! Good chart from you this week, thanks for sharing! |

Hey Joseph
1. Robin Schulz & David Guetta feat. Cheat Codes - Shed a Light - 38-1- ** HIGHEST CLIMBER ** I'm not finding this anything special at the moment, just sounds like your average dance song. It may be a grower though! 2. Little Mix - Touch - 25-1-2- Looking forward to the XF performance of this, and it becoming another hit for them 3. Louisa Johnson - So Good - 13-1-1-1-2-3- 4. Tom Odell - Silhouette - 4- ** HIGHEST NEW ENTRY ** Ooh is this the next official single? 6. The Vamps & Matoma - All Night - 8-1-2-3-3-2-5-6- 8. Britney Spears feat. Tinashe - Slumber Party - 6-3-8- 9. Clean Bandit feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie - Rockabye - 27-1-2-2-4-7-9- 10. Charlie Puth - Dangerously - 38-X-10-5-7-10-10- This has been steadily growing on me since it was announced as a single. He sounds great on it vocally! 14. Vaults - One Day I'll Fly Away - 25-3-9-14- 16. Naughty Boy feat. Kyla & Popcaan - Should've Been Me - 6-16- That's a big fall after such a promising start 17. Charli XCX feat. Lil Yachty - After the Afterparty - 35-5-11-15-20-17- 18. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human - 39-X-18- 24. Gabrielle Aplin - Miss You - 24-8-14-24- 28. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You - 20-13-9-X-12-9-6-11-X-24-14-9-5-X-28- On a whim I put a fiver on this being Xmas #1, so I'm really rooting for it now! £170 if I win 30. Shawn Mendes - Mercy - 25-5-8-12-16-17-15-17-22-23-6-8-15-20-22-30- 31. Little Mix feat. Charlie Puth - Oops - 16-31- I think this would make the perfect 3rd single. 33. Little Mix - Shout Out to My Ex - 2-4-7-13-21-26-33- 34. Zara Larsson - I Would Like - 34- Looking like yet another Top 20 for her I think I'm starting to prefer this over Ain't My Fault too actually. 35. Adele - Water Under the Bridge - 31-14-22-28-35- I suppose another Top 40 hit from an album that's sold bucketloads already is too much to ask...? 36. Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj - Side to Side - 23-25-32-X-10-8-5-1-1-4-6-9-12-13-18-24-29-36- 37. Dua Lipa - Blow Your Mind (Mwah) - 18-2-4-10-16-21-27-27-32-37-X-37- Excellent selection of songs! |

Hi Joseph OMG! I can't believe it! We share the same number 1 You're still Tom Odell huge fan Mariah's only at #28 Great chart Hi Jason! Thanks for commenting Wow, it's not often we share a #1 is it? Tom is on point once again this era Mariah will see a massive climb this week, rest assured! Hi Joseph, Tom Odell back in the top 4 FAB is a highlight from Mad Love. Great to bop too The Rag N Bone Man song is pretty good Trainwreck is a jam I do like her actual single though Lewis Watson climh!! Such a great song I have high hopes for the album Merrier, Zara and Dua entering/re-entering the chart Great Chart Hi Harry Thanks for all the comments! Trainwreck needs to be a single badly I think Hey Joseph! 8. Britney Spears feat. Tinashe - Slumber Party - 6-3-8- The video is iconic! The song sadly is not although it has grown on me 14. Vaults - One Day I'll Fly Away - 25-3-9-14- I wish they'd just stuck to Sad advert and Song 28. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You - 20-13-9-X-12-9-6-11-X-24-14-9-5-X-28- And so it begins! Great chart! Hi James Thanks for commenting! 8. I hope the song continues to grow on you Hey Joseph, Wow what a massive climb for Shed A Light, a worthy #1 which I truly hope does well between now and the beginning of 2017! Rag'N'Bone Man re-enters this week then, and a new entry from Zara Larsson looks promising for her too! Hey Andrew! Thanks for commenting Shed a Light screams huge hit to me, so I think it will start to pick up steam in the new year, a top 10 hit at least please! I need Cheat Codes to get a higher peak than they got with Sex Hi JC! 1. Robin Schulz & David Guetta feat. Cheat Codes - Shed a Light - 38-1- ** HIGHEST CLIMBER ** wow another #1 for Cheat Codes here I am liking this a lot more now 2. Little Mix - Touch - 25-1-2- this is really good! love the production 20. Lost Kings feat. Emily Warren - Phone Down - 20- quite good this but not as catchy as their previous songs IMO 28. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You - 20-13-9-X-12-9-6-11-X-24-14-9-5-X-28- Christmas Queen back in the mix! 34. Zara Larsson - I Would Like - 34- liking this one! Very instant Good picks! Hey Dobbo, thanks for commenting! 1. Glad it's growing on you! Cheat Codes have a fantastic chart history on paper with two #1s but then if we factor in Sex and Queen Elizabeth that haven't charted, it starts to look really weird! 2. The production is getting slated by a few people in the Little Mix forum but I agree with you, it's great! 20. This is the first song of theirs that's really hit me actually, I love Emily Warren's voice and the chorus is infectious! 28. Always Hi Joseph Nice choice of #1 Great to see FAB & I Would Like enter as well! Great chart Hey Pete, thanks for commenting Hey Joseph 1. Robin Schulz & David Guetta feat. Cheat Codes - Shed a Light - 38-1- ** HIGHEST CLIMBER ** I'm not finding this anything special at the moment, just sounds like your average dance song. It may be a grower though! 2. Little Mix - Touch - 25-1-2- Looking forward to the XF performance of this, and it becoming another hit for them 4. Tom Odell - Silhouette - 4- ** HIGHEST NEW ENTRY ** Ooh is this the next official single? 10. Charlie Puth - Dangerously - 38-X-10-5-7-10-10- This has been steadily growing on me since it was announced as a single. He sounds great on it vocally! 16. Naughty Boy feat. Kyla & Popcaan - Should've Been Me - 6-16- That's a big fall after such a promising start 28. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You - 20-13-9-X-12-9-6-11-X-24-14-9-5-X-28- On a whim I put a fiver on this being Xmas #1, so I'm really rooting for it now! £170 if I win 31. Adele - Water Under the Bridge - 31-14-22-28-35- I suppose another Top 40 hit from an album that's sold bucketloads already is too much to ask...? Excellent selection of songs! Hey Mango! Thanks for commenting! 1. I hope it grows on you! I find it quite refreshing among so much tropical dance right now, and I say that as a fan of a lot of the tropical stuff! 2. The X Factor performance is bound to be excellent, they're such great live performers! 4. It is indeed! 10. It's probably the most reflective of the overall album out of the singles released so far actually, glad you're liking it! I'd say it's his second best after We Don't Talk Anymore 16. It's gonna end up with a weird chart run I think, will probably be more stable in my next chart! It kinda got overshadowed last week by so many new songs. 28. So many people placing bets on Mariah on here! I hope she manages it 31. Agreed! Would be a big radio hit and sell the album well I expect. 34. Zara is one of the breakout stars of the year, coming to have a 100% top 20 record across six releases in this day and age is really good going 35. Sadly it seems so |
