HEAT 04
Welcome to the overly FRENCH heat of Super Eurovision II. It initially contained Switzerland instead of Belarus but I changed it coz so french and ain't nobody got time fo dat. France has technically been very floppy in the past 20 years having never troubled the Top 3 but that list of entries looks really strong. That 1997-2006 female section (excluding Jonatan in 2004 obv) is almost flawless. France certainly knows how to bring diversity into their entries having sent singer of all races and songs of very different genres. Jessy Matador, Patricia Kaas, Sebastien Teller, Amaury Vassili, Amandine and Twin Twin all in the span of just 6 years! #justice4louisa In 18 participations in the past 20 years Belgium managed to DNQ 8 times, having actually qualified only twice, a feat that only Netherlands could achieve. In fact two countries have a staggeringly similar track record of the last 20 years in the contest but that's another thing. Of course Belgium has not given us as many flops and pieces of poop as UK chart number one spot but there has been some trash in the midst of fabulousness. I'm sure the lot of you will easily put Kate Ryan through but who will get the second ticket to the Semifinals? Will it be the amazing Urban Trad, STYLISH Patrick Ouchène or the TOTALLY NOT BORING!!1 Iris? I guess I will find that out soon What I find ridiculous and ironic is that Belarus in those 11 years has given us more campy smashes than any other European (especially non homophobic) country (except Sweden and Ukraine I guess). I Love Belarus, Love Me Tonight, Solayoh, Cheesecake, Work Your Magic were all pretty damn fabulous even if you didn't really like some of the songs. Just admit it. I fear this one is going to be a bloodbath. I can't even predict what's going to happen here. With 11 entries Belarus BARELY qualify to have TWO entries in the Semifinals. Lucky hoes! #Justice4MyGalileo Last and certainly least, we have Andorra, a Spain wannabe who still talk in a language that's supposed to be Spanish but somehow isn't. That's probably why their entries are... I'm sorry, WERE very Spain-on-budget-ON-BUDGET. Except for Marian. She's really fabulous and slays. Actually the Andorran, Belgian and French entries from 2005 form the HOLY TRINITY which I love SO SO much. And they are all in this same heat now! <3 The time has come for you to listen to these and VOTE. Good luck and DON'T f*** it up. (But I know you will. As always.) ______ FRANCE 1995 > Nathalie Santamaria - Il me donne rendez-vous 1996 > Dan Ar Braz & L'Héritage des Celtes - Diwanit Bugale 1997 > Fanny - Sentiments songes 1998 > Marie Line - Où aller 1999 > Nayah - Je veux donner ma voix 2000 > Sofia Mestari - On aura le ciel 2001 > Natasha St-Pier - Je n'ai que mon âme 2002 > Sandrine François - Il faut du temps 2003 > Louisa Baïleche - Monts et merveilles 2004 > Jonatan Cerrada - À chaque pas 2005 > Ortal - Chacun pense à soi 2006 > Virginie Pouchain - Il était temps 2007 > Les Fatals Picards - L'amour à la française 2008 > Sébastien Tellier - Divine 2009 > Patricia Kaas - Et s'il fallait le faire 2010 > Jessy Matador - Allez Ola Olé 2011 > Amaury Vassili - Sognu 2012 > Anggun - Echo (You and I) 2013 > Amandine Bourgeois - L'enfer et moi 2014 > Twin Twin - Moustache [zippy] ______ BELGIUM 1995 > Frédéric Etherlinck - La voix est libre 1996 > Lisa del Bo - Liefde is een kaartspel 1998 > Mélanie Cohl - Dis oui 1999 > Vanessa Chinitor - Like the Wind 2000 > Nathalie Sorce - Envie de vivre 2002 > Sergio & The Ladies - Sister 2003 > Urban Trad - Sanomi 2004 > Xandee - 1 Life 2005 > Nuno Resende - Le grand soir 2006 > Kate Ryan - Je t'adore 2007 > The KMG's - Love Power 2008 > Ishtar - O Julissi 2009 > Patrick Ouchène - Copycat 2010 > Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar 2011 > Witloof Bay - With Love Baby 2012 > Iris - Would You? 2013 > Roberto Bellarosa - Love Kills 2014 > Axel Hirsoux - Mother [zippy] ______ BELARUS 2004 > Aleksandra and Konstantin - My Galileo 2005 > Angelica Agurbash - Love Me Tonight 2006 > Polina Smolova - Mum 2007 > Dmitry Koldun - Work Your Magic 2008 > Ruslan Alekhno - Hasta La Vista 2009 > Petr Elfimov - Eyes That Never Lie 2010 > 3+2 - Butterflies 2011 > Anastasia Vinnikova - I Love Belarus 2012 > Litesound - We Are the Heroes 2013 > Alyona Lanskaya - Solayoh 2014 > Teo - Cheesecake [zippy] ______ ANDORRA 2004 > Marta Roure - Jugarem a estimar-nos 2005 > Marian van de Wal - La mirada interior 2006 > Jenny - Sense tu 2007 > Anonymous - Salvem el món 2008 > Gisela - Casanova 2009 > Susanne Georgi - La teva decisió (Get a Life) [zippy] ______ Belarus, Belgium, France - 2 qualifiers. You must use the traditional Eurovision voting system (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point). If a country had less than 10 participations between 1995 and 2004 then you must rank ALL of their entries but still use the same voting system described earlier. For example, if a country has only 7 entries then your votes will be 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4 points. Vote via PM to Conderella. You have until 23:59 Sunday April 12th, 2015. |

France are consistently great but without ever being especially life enhancing for me, aside from Natasha <3

France between 1998 and 2005 is one of the best runs of entries of all time.

IDK if I'd count 'On aura le ciel' in the same league as those French greats but that aside 98-05 is spectacular. Oh France, what happened to you!

I would, but Il faut du temps is bordeline. For me their truly great period was 2007-2012 anyway

I've actually found France very on form recently. Shame very few others (i.e. the televoters) seem to think so but I'm rooting for them more often than not. I can't bring myself to care much about this year's entry really but they deserve a break or two. Although that 98-05 period is also quite strong, very consistent country overall.

France are so strong! I'd agree with Rich that they're very consistent without ever being absolutely AMAZING, although I do adore Moustache oops. And Je n'ai que mon âme of course. The only real misfire for me is Sognu, just because it's really not my thing.

Belarus on the other hand... Halfway through reminding myself of their entries and I can already tell this'll be a country where I won't want to be giving points to quite a few of the songs.

Holy fuck. Diwanit Bugale is SO STUNNING. Why have I never noticed that?! My mp3 version is like 5 minutes long but surely the Eurovision edit couldn't have lost much~

A Chaque Pas' performance was a little freaky watching back, the bald lady on stilts *.* Gorgeous song though, deserved way more.

7 votes in and there's no runaway leader in any of the subheats which is kind of the first. 3rd places are 6, 5 and 4 points away from 2nd positions in France, Belgium and Belarus respectively. It's currently a tie at the top for Andorra oops
Keep votin'. Tirren where them votes at |

I respectfully disagree with Iz, Belarus are all to often the providers of life (I mean they started with My Galileo FFS, it was only going to escalate from there).
Belgium is the one I can't stand out of all of this batch. Copycat, With Love Baby and Mother have given me nightmares for years. |

Belgium is the one I can't stand out of all of this batch. Copycat, With Love Baby and Mother have given me nightmares for years. Yes, but Belgium actually used to be rather good 2004 and backwards. Their lows are bad, they find it very easy to be awful nowadays, and those 3 I'll definitely grant you, With Love Baby might actually be my least favourite Eurovision entry EVER. But, Belarus just don't have any real highs for me and too often I find these alleged 'messes' really cold, while Belgium definitely have their good moments. |

FRANCE
QUALIFIERS: 2001: Natasha St-Pier - Je n'ai que mon âme 2003: Louisa Baïleche - Monts et merveilles So first off we head off to France where we get the first qualifier and the only song competing in this entire Heat from 2001! No doubt this success was no coincidence given Natasha's recent performance in the Greatest Hits concert. But I also have no doubt that she will be long since forgotten once the impakt is gone. It's not so... memorable. Oops. For 2001 maybe though. France follows Turkey and Spain by qualifying a song from 2003. The marvellous Monts et Marveilles made it through to the Semifinals. Natasha and Louisa had 157 points between the two of them in the Top 2. Jessy Matador came very close to the Top 2 and finished 3rd alongside Sebastien Tellier with a cooky electronic 2008 entry Divine which has proven to be quite a Buzzjack fave against all odds and lack of vagina AND presence of beard. How did you MONSTERS not appreciate the wonderful Diwanit Bugale though?! This clearly shows why me and Ms Qass are BETTER THAN ALL OF YOU PUT TOGETHER. Anyway, these years are still to send their first qualifier to the Semifinals: 1995; 1998; 1999; 2002; 2004; 2005. Quite diverse for such SEXIST and XENOPHOBIQUE Buzzjack. |

BELGIUM
QUALIFIERS: 2004: Xandee - 1 Life 2006: Kate Ryan - Je t'adore (The top 2 shared 186 points between them.) YASSSS we have our first 2004 qualifier! An automatic Q sliding to the Final on success of the previous entrant, Urban Trad, Xandee took me a bit by surprise with this and despite finishing bottom 3 in the Eurovision final, 1 Life managed to get to the Top 2 here and become one of the best Belgian entries of the last 20 years (Buzzjack version). A shame that my 2 favourites finished in 3rd and 4th though. Especially Sanomi. The other qualifier, on the other hand, was really not a surprise by any means. Kate Ryan was always a Buzzjack gay (how reductive of me to use basically the same word twice oops~) favourite. And this is the third time in this contest when a Eurovision DNQ goes further. It was understandable with Slovakia and San Marino where only two and one songs respectively made it to the Finals (during the eligibility period; Slovakia had one more Final appearance in 1994. SLEIGH!) but this time there were 10 finalists to choose from. However, since Buzzjack is so ageist and sexist, we decided to let something more female and less offensive to let into our Semifinals (and heart). Poor Roberto. His penis didn't stand a chance. |
