The issue is the BBC will just look at Eurovision as guaranteed decent viewing figures, over 5 million this year despite everything and a dip from last year. Eurovision is still shaking being seen as a joke so it’s just something fun people watch with their families as a tradition, no big artist is ever going to want to do it and the likelihood goes down and down each year that the show itself becomes more a joke with everything happening. So they won’t pull out, they won’t look at what they’re doing and change tact, they’ll do whatever and come last and have a little laugh and move on. I don’t even think the song was that bad, it was something completely different for Eurovision in general and I’d rather come last with that than 20th with some boring ballad.

It is quite funny how Bulgaria tried so desperately hard to win for years in the late 10s then they’ve just accidentally stopped an Israel win with a random girlbop.

I expected it to be harder not to cave or that I’d feel sad I was “missing out”, but I didn’t watch at all in the end. I’ve got a few good songs out of what I’ve heard (followed some national finals and heard songs from artists I knew for example), that’s about it, I didn’t miss the show at all and just feel nothing about it all because of what the EBU have made it stand for.

The way that country rigging was not even close lol. I haven’t heard all the songs but Bangaranga and My System were my faves so I’m pleased that Dara won. As I’ve not been really following anything, I don’t know if it was but it feels mega random, but slay. Even if Israel’s rigging failed, it’s going to keep happening and the EBU are siding with genocide. Even if we want to tout some bullshit about leaving politics out of a song contest to excuse a genocide, they’re clearly fixing it somehow and that should be enough but we’re having this conversation for the third year in a row and nothing will change, and my interest is completely gone even if the EBU do something about them atp, which they won’t. And if they come 2nd with this utter crock of rubbish and last year’s, once they send a vaguely competent song it will happen.

Idk why they didn’t have a lipsync or a vote of the other 3 queens (not Dawn to avoid a tie), I agree it was really anticlimactic. That’s a problem with the bracket format and having a tie did give them an opportunity to do something more unique with it and they squandered it.

I think this will go down like a lead balloon. Emma Willis is dull as anything, they could have had basically any presenter in the UK and they choose her to be on yet another show? I mean she’s a safe choice and I do think that works for a show like this, fine, but I really can’t see how her and Josh Widdicombe work as a pairing.

Dawn has really had a glow up, and fairly got all of her wins, but I kind of wish A’Keria and Morgan successfully made it to merge as their alliance, that’s a better storyline than the tie imo. Honestly I just think 2 queens merging is a bit shit when there’s three really strong queens in A’Keria, Dawn and Morgan so any of the 3 missing out would feel like a loss. Especially as both A’Keria and Morgan are coming back after disappointing showings last time around to redeem themselves. I guess 2 instead of 3 makes it a bit less predictable as one of the strong queens misses out, but eh As for this challenge itself, any of Dawn/A’Keria/Morgan could have won, A’Keria was the funniest but Morgan and especially Dawn really felt like hosts, I hate these kind of challenges where it’s not really clear what they want.

I feel like this era is way too scared to commit to a route for stories and so they just drag things along until they decide. Like why not just have Bea be a short term batshit villain and fully commit to that? You get little blocks of things being good (obviously notably Nigel’s death) then the whole show ambles along for ages until we may get another decent episode weeks later if we’re lucky

A quit that late is a gag lmfao Apparently Madee is a shock elim as she has multiple tops before being eliminated, Sasha Colby is also a guest judge for the premiere. The finale has the makeover which is an interesting twist tbf

The fact they’ve underused Denise for so much of her tenure that a side storyline about her being locked in a cupboard with Ian can be seen as one of her highlights is crazy but either way that was an odd pick.

I definitely think Israel wins, viewing and voting numbers will tank obviously with even fans not arsed and whole countries not even showing the contest and if they got as close as they did last year under “normal” circumstances, it’s easy for it to happen with less “normal” votes to contend with. Even if get they banned for cheating (which they wont, they’ll be allowed to continue doing as they want just like they have been), I think bridges have been burned with some of the countries who have withdrawn and then you’ve got Germany and Italy who have threatened to go to if Israel is banned. So I don’t think the contest recovers whichever way the wind blows, the damage is done but the life support plug is getting pulled when they win. And I’m not surprised and I’m not even upset about it, as Tim said the whole Joost thing was really the day the contest died, at least the beginning of the end, and this feels like the end.

Lipsync song is thought to be Zombieboy by Lady Gaga, Dawn finally gets her lipsync win. A’Keria is high with Morgan losing to Dawn and also losing the tie as Ru picks A’Keria to progress as per the tea. Idg why they didn’t just give A’Keria a win but I think they did the tie thing for a gag as the brackets were kind of predictable the whole time last time round lol

I am the same, completely forgot it was even happening this week. I’ve not even heard all of the songs, there are some I’ve heard that I enjoy and have saved but it’s been really easy to just disengage from the actual spectacle and I find myself not even caring. I thought it would be harder or I’d feel sad in a way but with what the contest has become, I don’t at all.

The way the poverty and GCSE Denise saga wasn’t in the collection of episodes for Diane Parish’s 20th anniversary is shameful x

Her and mirage are the same genre of overrated for me 😭 the fans who like Drag Race not drag act like they’re both the absolute pinnacle of the medium because of a talent show. Anetra does have other strengths (her Rusical was brilliant and her design look for the ball was insane) but I just find there’s no spark and she’s not that good at most challenges, there’s no way she’d do well on an All Stars! Maybe merge in a bracket season but in a normal format I could see a like WIN-LOW-BTM-BTM-ELIM run lmfao

I thought Morphine deserved top 2 in episode one over Morgan but Morgan absolutely DEVOURED the lipsync, the best kind of lipsyncer where they just feel and hit every beat. Whilst Dawn was kind of eaten up, I have to say she was kind of puss too and did hold her own well enough, much more than I expected. Dawn’s episode 1 look was also absolutely breathtaking. Also both Dawn and A’Keria were astounding in the design challenge, both gave one of those moments where I just thought how the f*** did you make that in the confines of a Drag Race challenge!!

Yeah they referred to her in the present tense and Libby asked where she is, I don’t think Libby would stick around if she’s dead either.
