Gravity *INCORRECT* (19)

Bre

The majority of possible answers were given here, with a couple of exceptions being the current 'Best Picture' holder, Birdman, and Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King which may crop up in the next question.

We have seven pointless answers, a few picking up a single point and Crash, being named by four people. Just randomly picking from the middle of the time period maybe?

Bray makes a good guess, Gravity was of course nominated last year but eventually lost out to 12 Years a Slave.

Oh yay, starting how I hope to go on. I really should watch more of those as they are clearly good movies, so far I've only watched 12 Years a Slave from the whole list and absolutely loved how the story, the script and way it was filmed that just created such a sad atmosphere while watching it so hopefully the rest of the list is just as good.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1 *INCORRECT* (19)

Johnkm

Six pointless answers here. 'Part 2' appears more popular than 'Part 1' counterparts, Twilight: Eclipse was snubbed and Joe goes for a loophole that I wish I'd closed off. I decided that The Hobbit movies are technically part of the Lord Of The Rings franchise, if only the phrasing of the question had been series http://www.skype-emoticons.com/images/emoticon-00133-wait.gif

John was wondering whether I'd be accepting movies that have yet to be released, personally I'd be more concerned about naming a movie from a franchise/series that I was asking for :P

I had the same idea as Chez but decided to go for my favourite film in the end. Not watched any LOTR/Hobbit or Twilight films before which maybe I should change because they're clearly v popular.
Crash is such an awful movie, have no clue how it won best picture

At least it wasn't the 1996 auto-erotica film of the same name.

The Deer Hunter (Best Supporting Actress; 1979)

Chez Wombat

A Cry in the Dark (Best Actress; 1989)

Joe

Leonardo

Adaptation (Best Supporting Actress; 2003)

Acidburn

August: Osage County (Best Actress; 2014)

Nelly

One True Thing (Best Actress; 1999)

Tim

Sophie’s Choice (Best Actress; 1983)

HausofKubrick

Into The Woods (Best Supporting Actress; 2015) (1)

Jahq, Jonjo

Out Of Africa (Best Actress; 1986) (1)

Dobbo, Josh

Julie & Julia (Best Actress; 2010) (1)

Postcards from the Edge (Best Actress; 1991) (1)

Spinning Adam, randomfurlong

The Iron Lady (Best Actress; 2012) (3)

Rooney, Bre, Johnkm, Froot

Plenty of choices and we come away with eight pointless answers. No one appears to have got this one wrong, the three films that she won for were all mentioned with her most recent win for The Iron Lady (where she played former PM Margaret Thatcher) being the most popular answer.

4. Name a cast member who appears on the poster for Love Actually

Colin Firth

Jonjo

Keira Knightly

Ultraviolence

Emma Thompson

Tim

Rowan Atkinson (1)

Chez Wombat, Bre

Liam Neeson (1)

Joe, HausofKubrick

Hugh Grant (2)

Jahq, Nelly, Froot

Laura Linney (2)

Dobbo, Benzy, randomfurlong

Alan Rickman (2)

Josh, Acidburn, Johnkm

Bill Nighy (3)

Mack, Spinning Adam, Rooney, Leonardo

Love Actually, what a wonderful film to watch around Christmas  Ten possible answers, love is all around for Bill Nighy as he proves most popular. But what can I say for poor Martine McCutcheon who played the love interest for Hugh Grant and ends up being the only one snubbed. :kink:

I was between Osage county and Julie and Julia for that one so it turns out it wouldn't have made a difference whichever one i went for *.*

And Keira Knightly- the best of the bunch- being pointless *.*

5. Name a movie that has topped the UK Box Office in 2015

Fifty Shades of Grey

Dobbo

Taken 3

Acidburn

Big Hero 6

randomfurlong

Furious 7 (1)

Mack, Rooney

Avengers: Age of Ultron (1)

Chez Wombat, Froot

Jurassic World (1)

Joe, Leonardo

Minions (2)

Benzy, Nelly, Johnkm

Inside Out (2)

Jonjo, Bre, HausofKubrick

Home (4)

Jahq, Ultraviolence, Josh, Spinning Adam, Tim

So animations dominate our top (or is it bottom) 3 here with Home being the highest scorer thus far :snif:

Our three pointless answers happen to be the first three (out of those named) that topped the box office this year and the three biggest movies of the year so far (unless Minions happens to have already overtaken Furious 7 by now or it may just be on the verge) all score a single point.
