Glad that DJ Snake x Justin Bieber isn't gonna sweep the #1 straight away, Cold Water feels like the bigger hit for sure so for once thank god for Spotify!! Great to see MO, twentyonepilots and The Chainsmokers sneaking up the chart, fingers crossed they can make the top 10 in the coming weeks!

Both the Bieber tracks are great. Cold Water is an 8/10 but Let Me Love You is a solid 10. So so good

Amazing to see Giggs so high on the albums chart!
For years, people said UK urban music couldn't sell albums without selling out to pop music... recently the likes of Krept & Konan, JME, Skepta and now Giggs have shattered that illusion. |

100%. JME Skepta's brother charted with his album at number 12 and has since sold 40,000+ copies independently. Krept &a Konan charted number 2 with their album. Kano charted number 8 with his album and has since sold 35k+ copies and its growing since the Mercury nomination. Bugzy Malone's two EPs charted top 10 with the first EP going onto sell nearly 20k copies without any major promotion and his second EP currently on 15k+ copies is is still in the top 100.
Skepta is probably the highest seller within the urban scene so far and is independent. However stormzy's album is due to outsell Skepta once it's released. |

Yeah, I imagine Stormzy's album will be huge when it drops! Good times for black British music right now... Next step is for the artists to work out how to maximise their Spotify potential. |

Stormzy has over 31million streams on Shutup, his single Where do you know me from about to go SILVER from the help of Spotify streams, he has amassed over 3million monthly listeners when his Single Shut Up went into the charts. Skepta currently has over 1million monthly listeners on Spotify and has amassed over 50million streams on Spotify.
Both artists have done this INDEPENDANTLY. NO LABEL |

Does album sale add to single sale when single is included in the album? It definitely should!

That would mean Hello by Adele would have sold over 600,000 copies in 25's week of release. I mean reverse situation. Not 'single selling album' but 'album selling single'. There is much bigger sale of singles than albums anyway in general. It is logical when album is sold it means single in it is sold. Iasn't it? But how is this sorted out? |

I think with all the evolution album chart is pointless and boring.
Some albums stay for four years in the charts, artist can buy himself number one in chart when managing his debut in weak period and big promotion expenditure like Michael Kiwanuka recently and many others. Only singles chart in the race, of course there are some mega albums debuts each year but PEOPLE ARE BUYING SONGS - NOT ALBUMS. And Im afraid it goes more and more towards singles. Will Bastile roll into TOP 10? I thinkits impossible they beat 'Pompei' but they develop in interesting way |

More variety and a chance for new talent to exposed. |
