QUESTION ONE

Name a song from 2021 that has gone straight to A-List in it’s first week on Radio 1’s weekly playlist

CORRECT ANSWERS

Adele - Easy On Me
Ansel, Bjork, Brι, chrissmith276, dandy*, dj_tim_e, Dobbo., Jade, jimwatts, JulianT, King Rollo, Lee_J11, LewisGT, LiamSime, Mangψ, n4yr, rio309, Riser, StoneDragon, vibe, Viper* (20 Points)

Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits
CJK, Cow Cow, dan:G, Hadji, paulgilb, PeteFromLeeds, xajnipi (6 Points)

NO POINTS

Central Cee - Obsessed with You
~1^∞ (0 Points)

CJ - Whoopty
Mack. (0 Points)

Starting off here with a rather landslide answer in the current UK #1 single by Adele. Bad Habits was the only other answer given that scored any points. Our resident chart member Mangψ should be able to say with ease whether or not Central Cee or CJ were instant A-Listers in their opening week on Radio 1.

Slight adjustment in favour of the leaders, I forgot to include Ansel's answer (oops), so it's actually 20 points, not 19. kink.gif

'Dancing Queen' is their signature song so I had to go for that! I can see cases for their Eurovision winner and title of a very famous musical/movie series (+ Mεneskin song xox) too

I considered Waterloo as it was the first one but thought that Dancing Queen was the one to go for.

California seems to be the most thought of US State when it comes to album titles with states in them. Joint first are albums from Eagles and London Grammar. A wide variety of answers given to this question, but lots of mentions of California within the titles!

I know Californication technically doesn't have the word 'California' in it but my mind just goes straight to the Red Hot Chili Peppers when I see any mention of it rotf.gif and it doesn't matter if it's technically wrong in Family Fortunes kink.gif embarrassed that I forgot about London Grammar as I have that on vinyl and everything blush.gif thank u, next x

Californian Soil was my first thought, but I wasn't sure if it counted with the "n" on the end. I suppose it still has "California" in the title so should have just gone with it!

Hotel California was the only one I could think of so I'm pleased that some others put it as their answer.

Damn, I initially put dancing Queen for question 2 then changed to Mamma Mia as I thought it would be more popular!

NO POINTS

Rita Ora feat. Tinie Tempah – RIP
dandy* (0 Points)

I guess I should have realised giving an example of what an acronym was that people's minds would immediately take them back some 11 years ago to a Top 10 hit by Usher! I didn't think the example of OMG was an obvious one, but clearly I just gave you all the most pointworthy answer! Cardi B, Dua Lipa and rather surprisingly Village People all score points. Unfortunately my explanation of an anagram wasn't quite understood by Mack.'s answer.
