We previously asked the question: Which Gaga album has the best lyrics? Now, let's consider which specific SONG has the best lyrics?

In which song does she pour her heart out the most, or which one has the greatest metaphors and quotable lyrics?

The very instant top 2 choices that come to my mind are The Edge of Glory and Marry the Night. Both songs have incredible messages of self-love and being a fighter and they both open and close her most important album. "Dancing in the flames tonight" / "soldier to my own emptiness" - perfection poetry. I could write out the entire set of lyrics of Marry the Night and find power in every line. I think that's the #1 for me!

I could quote the entire Born This Way album tbh, but special mention to Heavy Metal Lover! Sordid masterpiece.

Also of course, from my absolute favourite, Dance in the Dark for this lyric alone: "find your freedom in the music, find your Jesus, find your Kubrick" - the entire bridge is life-affirming

It's impossible to say which song has the best lyrics so I suggest several based on what kind of lyrics the songs have:

Most sincere and warmest: Grigio Girls

Most relatable: Rain on Me

The best lyrics of a "hit single": The Edge of Glory

Most "Gaga" lyrics: Marry the Night

I like those distinctions! Also the Chromatica album has some of my fave lyrics too: "This is my dance floor, I fought for" - in fact Free Woman gets a vote for this too just because it came during peak lockdown and gave me so much hope that one day we would be free to go out, reclaim our dancefloors and be free once more.

On any other album I wouldn't consider the lyrics to be some of her greatest but at the time it came, it spoke to us all SO HARD and truthfully. Now it's forever associated with that time period and being a light in the darkness that we all went through!

While GaGa has nothing quite matching the majesty of Everything Eventually by The Appleton - think ArcticnMonleys with William Orbit production - or the complexity of Katy Perry's first lines of Firework, or all of Harleys in Hawaii - GaGa's best lyrics are probably in Edge of Glory, Marry the Night - if you ignore the cheesy dinky dink production - Alice by Lady GaGa on Chromatica, SheiBe, Bad Romance, Gypsy, and the song ARTPOP.

Just an example of what she can aspire to lyrically if she works at it:

"Hula hula, so won't you take me to the jula jula" :music:

I also think that GaGa could learn from the greats, who are widely considered as the best lyricists ever because they also play instruments. If she wants to become an even more respected lyricist, she could do it by learning from such highlights as,

We all live in a yellow submarine, a WHAAAAT?! A yellow submaeine. We all live in a yellow submaeine - oh ywah, sing it! - a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, ooh, we all live...

I am a walrus, I have tusks, I am a walrus, oooh!!

Both by the Beatles. Or,

I wanna rock and roll alll nii-iiigght, oh yeah, and party all day!

Or,

Ruby ruby ruby ruby ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaa do ya do ya do ya talk it ahaaahahaaaaaa

Only by creating such deep, insightful lyrics will GaGa have the same lyrical standing as guitar bands x
