This is a properly incredible song. It's hard to make something so danceable and yet so melancholic. Epic, better than She Wolf. So happy they chose this! This is definitely going to be the era where Shakira's UK profile explodes.

Kid Cudi is going to be on the single version of this. Good choice and should guarantee reasonable success in the US.

I didn't like it after listening to the first half but the second one just clicked on me. LOVE IT. Especially the chorus "EH. EH. EH. AH." :wub:

I'm not sure about this single yet, i'v been listening to demos that shes done that are floating around youtube that are better than this, but i'm sure that i will end up loving it AND if sophie Muller is doing the video it will be MEGA.

Not quite as insane as She Wolf lyrically but still interesting. Can't wait for the performance at the EMAs!

i love this track it has so much going on i especially love shakira's lyrics, for me its definately a good second single.

 

here is my review of the track and why it "good" and why it "works"....

 

the good news is that pharrell production doesn't dominate the track musically, you can hear his work and input but the production building up and then getting stripped down keeps this track lively and engaging maybe shakira's input on the production is balancing it out.

 

as a whole this is track has a melancholic quality, its strange to say that cause the production is lively. a song about making mistakes in love. shakira sings this in many different ways, the quality and delivery is impressive. we get soft girlish voice, then fast singing talking style, then her yearning heartfelt singing on the chorus. the bridge she sounds at first playful then more insistent as she repeats it (there is hope, not a defeatist attitude).

 

her eh and uh yelps sound like a desperate call then exhaustion with her ways/mistakes. like she is running or chugging like a train unable to stop, its relentless we get it repeated many times at the end of the song. until she is just totally knacked.

 

this is just a great wonderful track . lyrically great story telling, the first verse is mysterious, we have a room with danger and trouble but its heaven!? that surprise punch is typical shakira...contradicting unexpected never knowing what the next line is going to be look at the first 2 lines of she wolf as example...the last thing anyone was expecting was the word lycanthropy being sung.

 

back to DIA it starts to accelerate now its all about the "guy", she is going fast, she is excited about him you can tell in her voice with her enthusiasm, too fast? rushing into the relationship? will she fall? the answer is yes, we know this cause my favourite line is coming up where she trips and fall on the same rock. very well realised and executed track. typical shakira

Looks amazing.

Love this song so much. Such an amazing choice for 2nd single, I think I might actually prefer it to "She Wolf" which is one of my favourite songs of the year.

I can't get into this at all, I hope it grows on me. The orgasm sounds are funny though.

It's released 14th December (Christmas week) with competition from the X Factor winner, Robbie Williams, Sean Paul, The Saturdays, and from two weeks previous Mini Viva, Darin, Kesha, Basshunter, Lily Allen, Pixie Lott and Taio Cruz, so I doubt it'll go top ten, but it should help album sales.

Well there's been two versions for lots of her videos including She Wolf and Loba. They're all only slightly different.

 

They should get this video out there now. It's obviously ready. I don't see any point in waiting. The album's just come out and getting this song out there now would sell the album well for a few weeks.

Yeah that performance was fucking brilliant. I don't know what the hell is going on with the US release though - she's meant to be releasing Give It Up To Me and yet she's still performing Did It Again? And when is the album out? I've read both October 27th and November 24th...

I think it's Nov 24th which would such a bad idea because she would apparently be competing with Leona and Rihanna and a few other big releases.

why wait for later :wacko: the worst week to release aka the most competitive. sony/bmg/rca/amamda ghost should time it with her x factor performance. the single needs to be given to radio very soon like next week, with a remix version with kid cudi just in case UK radio and radio 1 give shakira a hard time again and don't playlist her. sony uk needs to keep up momentum and not have this dry period of november in between.
