October 30, 200915 yr It's on the Official site now - cleverly worded, he'll "no longer be performing" http://www.robbiewilliams.com/news-blogs/l...pe-music-awards
October 30, 200915 yr The scheduling conflict does seem a bit of a strange statement to make but we don't know all of Robbies planned movements, there may be other exciting things in the pipeline around that time, a surprise concert somewhere maybe  He may not be showing for personal reasons, if so, I think we should respect that, no doubt the press won't though
October 30, 200915 yr oh come on!!!! He was the only reason I was planning to stay up that night watching the awards show instead of studying for my exam!!!!! :arrr:
October 30, 200915 yr Well I am going to be totally selfish...I am not bothered as long as he makes a few TV appearances before Xmas that I can Sky+......will do me just fine ;) Maybe Robbie couldn't be ar**d as he says himself ^_^
October 30, 200915 yr I'd understand if they just said: personal reasons. Really. And I wouldn't expect to know what's that, it's normal that he don't want that everybody knows. But, saying that scheduling conflict is problem is very unprofessional.
October 31, 200915 yr Author The real reason apparently. The real, infuriating reason that Robbie pulled out of the MTV Awards... Posted by: 3am30/10/09 11:00 pm We don't want to blow our own trumpets but... oh hang, on, yes, we do want to blow our own trumpets: we were the first people in the whole wide world with the news that Robbie Williams had pulled out of next week's MTV European Music Awards, and we were also the first people in the whole wide world to question his excuse: "scheduling conflicts." Well, now we're also the first people in the whole wide world with the real story. Yes, "scheduling conflicts" was a load of old bollocks. It turns out Robbie actually pulled out when his people threw a massive strop because their over top demands for his four minute performance could not be met by MTV for reasons of health, safety and cold hard cash. "Every star is treated the same and has to work to the same parameters," says a secret MTV source who we get the impression is a little bit cheesed off with this state of affairs. "Robbie is no different but his reps for some reason said nearly everything wasn't up to scratch. His no-show is costing us a lot of money. It's a live show and we're having to re-write the script and re-do all the VTs. We have tried to be as accommodating as we can but we've had to put our feet down. This obviously caused a huge issue and they walked away with a week to go. It has caused utter mayhem in the schedule." Apparently they wanted the performance in Berlin to be extra-special to make up for his lack-lustre and frankly slightly alarming X Factor effort of a few weeks ago. "If he flopped as badly as he did then, his comeback would have taken even more of a hit," says the spiller of secrets. "It's such a shame as he was arguably the biggest - and certainly most talked about - act to perform. But the show must go and we're pulling out all the stops to make it a fantastic show. Another great name will be announced soon to more than make up for it." Jedward! Jedward! Jedward! Or maybe, like, someone more established. But just wait 'til next year... We're quite surprised that Robbie's people have actually confirmed the reasons now too. So, basically admitted that they lied yesterday, then. Hmm. "The truth is MTV and the EMA's are victims of big budget cuts and Robbie's performance was being compromised so it was decided that he would not perform," said his spokesman, making us wonder what exactly he had planned (fire? acrobats? Jedward-style inflatables?). "Bodies has been number one on radio for the last six weeks in Germany and Robbie really wanted to perform in Berlin. It is a real shame that MTV could not make this happen. Fortunately Robbies performed a surprise free concert for his fans in Berlin last week to 15,000 people and he will perform on Germany's biggest TV show Wetten Das on November 7. Rumour has it Eminem has pulled out too from the EMA's for the same reason." Mmm, nice plugs there, chaps. But eek, it sounds like Robbie's lot have seriously fallen out with MTV. We can't wait for Robbie himself to say something appropriately witty and bitchy about it all. But until then, you'll just have to make do with us
October 31, 200915 yr Author What an odd and suprising reason, although at least we now have a proper one. I am suprised because Rob has never been one for resorting to special effects etc, like most pop stars so I find it odd. Would've been interesting to see what he had planned :( I knew Rob and U2 performing on the same show was too good to be true  Edited October 31, 200915 yr by Scotty
October 31, 200915 yr If he ain't happy with the set-up I prefer to see a no show ....he got slated badly enough by the press after XF..... Look forward to JR instead :cheer:
October 31, 200915 yr  Ok, if they say so... Btw, XF wasn't that bad. I knew Rob and U2 performing on the same show was too good to be true  Yes!
October 31, 200915 yr  Ok, if they say so... Btw, XF wasn't that bad. Yes! No XF was not that bad but I sure have seen Robbie doing much better than that ...having said that Proms was fab ....however BODIES is not a great song for singing live with the big orchestra so maybe the lack of confidence thing clicked in so he is not going to take that chance & if that is the case I do not blame him. Angry NO !!! . ;) ....not that bothered tbh.... :P
October 31, 200915 yr I wonder if Kanye West is making an appearance...he is guaranteed to liven things up :P
October 31, 200915 yr Maybe Wee Daniel could step in? I'm sure his stage sets don't cost too much ^_^
October 31, 200915 yr Not sure. The voting was still open I think when he pulled out  It all seems very strange. Health and safety reasons? What was he going to do? Swing from a trapeze?
November 5, 200915 yr He asked for this, well he got it. -_- He's 100 times better then everyone in best male category.
November 5, 200915 yr Author Shame Rob is not going to be there tonight to blow everyone away.Nice to see U2 win Best Live Act though, it is so rare these awards are given to those who actually deserve them so nice to see for once they got it right. The 360 tour is beyond amazing and is the biggest in music history.. Can't wait to see the second European leg next year :cheer: So did Eminem or Jay Z win Best Male? I am suprised if it was Eminem as he snubbed it just like Rob.
