September 21, 200915 yr Author This chart is from my own. I work a lot during the week to reach this result. It's completely dedicated to digital music download, including truetones-ringtones that someone could consider music assuming that they're songs to all the effects and play an important role in the italian music market in spite of they have suffered crisis from the beginning of this year and lost about 20% of their share. To compile the chart I collect top download rankings from almost all the italian operators in this field : I-Tunes, that record about 75% of the market shares and count the triple of all the others altogether, Mondadori Shop-Sorrisi Music Shop and Messaggerie Digitali, that all belongs to Mediaset, the group owned by Premier Silvio Berlusconi, Nokia, now the second force of italian digital market with a share of 7%, the telephonic operators Wind (labelled as E-Music) and Vodafone, the gross-store Mediaworld using the label Net-World, Dada, with a special eye to ringtones market, IBS, who entered the market only three month ago after it became a leader in the books and records Internet market, MTV Mobile and 3 operators completely dedicated to the truetones world : News Corp's Jamba, Blinko controlled by Buongiorno Spa and Zero 9. The most difficult thing is in the transformation of different data in something homogenous : you must use a moltiplicator, some conventional numbers to arrive to the final result. Is it correct ? This is the problem. You better consider that in Italy we don't have a real official digital download chart : FIMI (the equivalent of RIAA in Italy) claims that they got it, but it's not true for sure. They don't use a lot of the operators I listed and declare to use others that are no more part of the market. Musica & Dischi monthly magazine has just a Top Singles chart, where they insert CD, vinile supports, radio airplays as well as digital download. Tv Sorrisi & Canzoni got only an Album Top 50 chart. So, it's difficult to compare but when I see the new entries of the week I always find all of them the following week in the other charts. So , maybe, it's a good result. September 21, 200915 yr Author So, basically, this is a combined download chart in Italy? :P I really don't understand the exact meaning of the word "combined", maybe because of my not fluent english :lol: . All the charts in the world are combined. You could take a record store or a digital download operator and ask them : what's the songs you're selling the most ? Then, you combined all the data in return and compile a chart. But all these chart are based on a panel, a cluster of selling points, not totally the market. You could alternate these points, as Fimi or Musica & Dischi do, but not ask all of them: to act this way week by week would cost a lot of money. With Italia Digitale Top 100 I try something different : receiving a ranking from each of the companies operating on the digital download market and "combine" all this data in a unique chart, not using real numbers (no company wants to make know these numbers outside) but equivalent points. This is not the best chart around, but it's a regular one and cost nothing more than my happy hard work Bye Harrison_Starr
