Posted September 22, 200915 yr Pop duo Chas & Dave confirm split Tuesday, September 22 2009, 17:56 BST By Alex Fletcher, Senior Entertainment Reporter Source: digitalspy Pop duo Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock have announced that they will no longer be performing together. Peacock confirmed that he is retiring from the music business, while Hodges will continue with touring commitments under the new name Chas And His Band, reports the BBC. Peacock's decision comes shortly after the death of his wife Sue, who passed away in July from lung cancer. "Sue was instrumental behind the scenes for Chas & Dave, working tirelessly on the side of the business that musicians just aren't good at," said the pop veterans in a statement. "It's accurate to say that without Sue and [Hodges's wife] Joan, there wouldn't have been Chas & Dave." Chas & Dave have performed together for 35 years and scored No.1 singles with 'Gercha' and 'Rabbit'. Their other hits included 'Ain't No Pleasing You', 'Snooker Loopy', and football songs dedicated to their favourite team Tottenham Hotspur, 'Ossie's Dream' and 'Tottenham Tottenham'. Their debut LP One Fing 'n' Anuvver contained eight Top 40 singles. Recently, the duo had experienced a career renaissance, with several shows at Glastonbury and bands such as The Libertines citing them as an influence.
September 22, 200915 yr They probably fell out, I imagine it might have happened a bit like this…. One Day Chas was listening to his greatest hit album when Dave said “Turn that noise down”. Chas “ Ain’t no pleasing you, sunshine” Dave “Gerthcha you moron” Chas “Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit” Dave “ Poor old Mr Woogie” Chas “I’m off to Margate to play snooker “ Dave “ You’re Snooker Loopy” Chas “ well your always saying Tottenham Tottenham” Dave “ well that Ossie’s Dream, Spurs are on their way to Wembley” Chas “ well we are no longer Stars over 45, Dave” Chas & Dave “ What a miserable Saturday night”. So they called it a day. Edited September 22, 200915 yr by brian91

September 23, 200915 yr Not really sure what the big media thing is about this. They were a novelty act for most of their career and were virtually unheard of between 1986 and 2003 (when Doherty's irony-radar started buzzing), previous to that they turned up on the likes of Crackerjack and The Krankies more often than not. Still...anything to deflect attention from the Sugababes 'story'.
September 23, 200915 yr My only memory of them is appearing on The Ant & Dec Show in the mid 90s, pretending they were the Pet Shop Boys and singing covers of their songs. Being really young at the time I knew of the PSBs but not them, so just thought they were two random old men they'd found somewhere...
