Right, so I was quite bored and decided to look back at all the songs that I really like which I first discovered through hearing them in this competition... I came up with 35 that I'd still happily listen to, so I'm going to count down the top 30.

 

This is a list purely of top discoveries, and not top songs. If I already knew it before it was entered it doesn't qualify for this list so some of my 12s ('What Else Is There?', 'The Girl & The Robot', 'You Don't Know Me', 'Chelsea'....) do not appear and this is also why some countries which I've voted for a lot don't make a single appearence. Oh and I can't be arsed with numerals so numbers it is.

In retrospect this probably shouldn't have received quite so many points, but still a good song.

 

27 MDICE (BJSC 10) Brandy 'Right Here (Departed)' (7 pts)

 

 

The winner of the 10th BJSC. This the first of five songs in this contest to be in this countdown. Easily my favourite contest.

26 XANAGA (BJSC 18) Ashley Tisdale 'How Do You Love Someone' (5 pts)

 

 

Probably the most surprising points I've ever given, to me at least. It should probably have had more really, prevented by my inner snob. :(

25 SANGRIA (BJSC 10) Yelle 'Ce Jeu' (4 pts)

 

 

Another from BJSC 10. No other song in here scored less than four points...

Another song that's hardly typical of my tastes and I liked a lot more than I thought I would...

23 FSR RONTVIA (BJSC 7) Maria & Mira 'Mine All Mine' (12 pts)

 

 

The first song I awarded 12 points to to appear and the first song to appear from the country that tops my voting history. A Eurovision entrant and the person who sung 'Headhunted'? This should be awful. It's far from it though.

22 QUOTOSIBB (BJSC 20) David Guetta ft Estelle 'One Love' (8 pts)

 

 

The first of four to appear from the most recent BJSC, not bad considering I thought the quality of it was generally quite awful! It was saved by four rather excellent songs.

21 ASHTON (BJSC 13) Lorelei Carlson 'Alone' (6 pts)

 

 

Despite not having similar tastes Ashton have always done pretty well for me and still sit comfortably in the top 10 of my voting history. This is their highest appearecne here.

Ashton definately featuring heavily. Phil has sent some very original and quite epic pop songs, almost all of which have been massively underated.
