Kelly Llorenna-Brighter Day http://www.mattscdsingles.com/acatalog/27191.jpg Year: 1996/2001 Chart Run: 2-4-4-2-2-4 Info: Kelly's debut solo single back in 1996 was a complete flop but actually a classic 90's hidden gem...reworked for her album All Clubbed Up in 2002 it became a trance stormer. It was the 1996 version that managed to reach No.2 in my chart, blocked only be herself and a song still to come... Reason I love it: A song to sum up the 1990's despite nobody having heard of it, Kelly was a young woman when this track came out though she had already had huge success with Set You Free...it yo-yoed between 2 and 4 in my top 5 on a 6 week residency and to this day remains a favourite of mine!!!

Watergate-Heart of Asia http://www.mattscdsingles.com/acatalog/21227.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 2-2-1-3-R-5 Info: One of 2000's standout dance tunes, this odd oriental trance track sampled Chinese song Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence...an odd combination but it worked a treat and took Watergate (an alias of DJ Quiksilver) to No.3 in the UK!!! Reason I love it: It was just completely different to other dance at the time. I loved the oriental feel and it seemed as if Positiva could do no wrong at the time. A classic-it made No.1 in my chart!!! Edited July 20, 200618 yr by gooddelta
July 20, 200618 yr Author 72. Mad'House-Like A Prayer http://www.kontor.cc/km/photos/f_madhouse.jpg Year: 2002 Chart Run: 5-2-1-4-5-3-2-3-5 Info: A short lived Madonna tribute band, fronted by professional swimmer Buse, this Dutch act made a huge splash in Europe with their very different version of Madonna's classic single Like A Prayer. A bassline that sounded like Black Legend, this was a sublime cover which was just one from a brilliant album!!! Reason I love it: I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. It was such a big hit that Now 52 had to resort to a remix just to get it on there :-0 A fantastic dance cover which spent an impressive 9 consecutive weeks in my top 5!!!

ATB-My Dream http://www.chart-radio.de/img/galerie/atb4.jpg Year: 1999 Chart Run: 4-R-2-2-3-1-2-2-1-2-4-3-5-R-5 Info: Another track from the great man hmself, this was one of my favourite tracks from his debut album Movin' Melodies which remains one of my favourites to this day. A very long track at over 7 minutes, this is a Euphoric classic... Reason I love it: Like much of the album, I love the slow build up into uplifting slow trance. This song blew my mind back in late 1999 and spent an unheard of 13 weeks in the top 5!!! A fantastic track and one of the more successful unreleased tracks in the chart!!!
July 20, 200618 yr Some really good songs in this chart such as Robert Miles, Milk Inc, Gina G, ATB, Texas, James Blunt, Natalie Imbruglia, Mad'House, Carola (Sweden was one of my faves in this year Eurovision) and of course Vanilla Ninja! I like those girls so much - one of my fave bands, so great to see them in your chart :cheer:

The Corrs-Baby be brave http://www.origo.hu/i/0405/20040524corrs4.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 2-1-3-2-R-4-3-3-4 Info: One of an impressive 5 songs that reached No.1 on my chart from The Corrs 2004 studio album Borrowed Heaven, Baby be brave is an album track written by Caroline Corr which is just sublime to hear. The intro to the track was used as the intro to their Borrowed Heaven tour!!! Reason I love it: The intro building to perfect verses and a brilliant chorus, this was one of the more underrated tracks on their Borrowed Heaven album. But of course, I always love the underdog and the song spent 8 weeks in my top 5 alone!!!
July 21, 200618 yr Author 69. Cher-Believe http://www.geocities.com/xenomaniasite/cher.jpg Year: 1998 Chart Run: N/A Info: Cher's huge comeback single of 1998 which shifted 1 and a half million copies in the UK alone notching up 7 weeks at the top of the chart, it was a collaboration with the Xenomania team who are known now for hits with Girls Aloud and Sugababes!!! Reason I love it: Well, why does everyone love it? The vocoder, the perfect dance track the brilliant melody and lyrics which are catchy as hell etc...Quite simply one of the more deserved million sellers, this was one of my favourite tracks of 1998!!!
July 21, 200618 yr Author 68. Thunderbugs-Friends Forever http://www.stthomasu.ca/~pmccorm/research/thunderbugs.jpg Year: 1999 Chart Run: 2-2-2-4-1-3 Info: A short lived rocky girl group which (probably didn't) pave the way for the pop rock artists of today a la Kelly Clarkson, Ashlee Simpson, The Veronicas etc...this English/French/German group took their debut single into the UK top 5 on its week of release!!! Reason I love it: One of the songs that best reminds me of the great summer of 1999, this pop rock tune had everything that a good pop song should have. Too much hype, a great melody and video and brilliant lyrics...the song spent a week as my No.1 after 3 weeks in 2nd place...
July 27, 200618 yr Author 67. Kelly Llorenna-This time I know it's for real http://www.aatw.org/pics/artists/kelly.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 2-1-1-1-1-1-4 Info: The queen of cheese returned in 2004 with a seemingly one-off single, a cover of Donna Summer's 80's classic penned by The Hit Factory...The song got to No.14 in the UK and was accompanied by a very camp video parodying a TV shopping channel... Reason I love it: Well, I just love Kelly Llorenna...amazing voice, this song and video showed off her sense of humour, good choice of song to cover and it was just a fantastic pop song that brightened up my No.1 spot for 5 weeks!!!
July 27, 200618 yr Author 66. Rank 1-Airwave http://www.uic.nnov.ru/~udr/rank1_aw_man.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 3 Info: Not an instrumental as such but with few lyrics, this uplifting Euphoric dance track was done by Dutch producers Rank 1. The song reached No.10 in the UK on a busy week with little promotion and Flip & Fill used this as the basis of their 2002 hit True love never dies... Reason I love it: How could anyone not love this track...my chart run for it does not reflect its full success because it spent a huge number of weeks just outside the top 5...A very uplifting gorgeous track which is seen as beautiful to many :-)
July 27, 200618 yr Author 65. Natasha Bedingfield-Unwritten http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40601000/jpg/_40601552_natasha_bed_pa.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 1-1-2-4-4-R-3-5 Info: The third single in the UK for Daniel's sister and the first of her two appearances in this countdown, Natasha's brilliant if severely underrated title track from her No.1 album only made No.6 in the UK despite in 2006 becoming one of America's biggest selling singles and a top 5 hit... Reason I love it: I alwas loved it from the day I got the album. It's quirky uplifting mid-tempo pop and was completely different to everything else around at the end of 2004. Great lyrics, an odd video and a brilliant singer...what more could I ask for?
July 27, 200618 yr Author 64. The Veronicas-4ever http://www.12to20.com/tours/veronicas.jpg Year: 2006 Chart Run: 2-1-1-R-5-R-5-2 Info: Australian twin sisters Jess and Lisa's debut hit was huge in their native country but as yet hasn't made it to the shores of the UK...From their album The Secret Life Of... and written by the same people who did Since u been gone for Kelly Clarkson this song is brilliant... Reason I love it: From the thumping introduction to the soaring choruses, if this was ever released in the UK it would surely become a hit. Their whole album is of a similar high quality and they have taken me by storm this year...the song spent a fortnight as my No.1...
