Ira Losco-7th Wonder http://www.radiosaw.de/images/kuenstlerbiographien/ira_losco_2.jpg Year: 2002 Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-3-4-4-4 Info: In my opinion the greatest Eurovision song ever, the 2002 runner up should have by rights been a runaway winner but Marie N's Latvian striptease put a stop to that...A bright and breezy summer pop song from Malta's young singer Ira Losco came second but topped my chart for a month!!! Reason I love it: A great pop song with an excellent key change towards the end was supported by a strong and lively performance which saw Ira blow glitter out of her hand like magic. Its a chirpy pop song like all Eurovision songs should be and has all the parts to make it amazing...her follow up singles, One Step Away and I'm in love again were great too!!!

Delta Goodrem-Not Me, Not I http://graphics.sonymusic.com.au/gallery/medium/DeltaGoodrem093.jpg Year: 2003 Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-1-2-3 Info: The 4th best song of 2003 in my chart, the top 3 are all still to come and also all by Delta... beautiful ballad made even more heartbreaking by the fact that the video was shot before Delta started her treatment for cancer...it was a 4th top 20 single for Delta in the UK... Reason I love it: Its not as instant as her first three singles but its a ballad that really climbs to a climax towards the end. The lyrics are very true to life and the instumentation in the track combined with the melody make it a Delta classic...it was knocked off No.1 after 6 weeks by her cover of Happy Xmas (War is over)!!!
September 22, 200618 yr Author 29. Aurora feat Naimee Coleman-Ordinary World http://www.irishmusiccentral.com/naimeecoleman/images/nc_front_image_croppeda.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 2-4-1-2-5 Info: An inspired trance cover of a Duran Duran song from 1993, UK producers Aurora who had previously hit the top 20 with Hear You Calling teamed up with Irish singer Naimee Coleman to score a huge top 5 hit in Autumn 2000... Reason I love it: The Duran Duran song is a classic song with great lyrics and melody but this version is better for many reasons to me. It had a modern trance sound, Naimee's vocals are great on it and it showed how excellent some dance cover versions can actually be!!!

Shakira-Whenever, Wherever http://us.movies1.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/tv_pix/mtv/mtv_video_music_awards_2002_photos/shakira/vma5.jpg Year: 2002 Chart Run: 2-3-2-2-4-R-3-4-2-1-3 Info: The first of three Shakira songs in the top 30 best songs ever, the Colombian superstar marked her crossover to a Western market with the simply amazing Whenever, Wherever. Also done in Spanish as Suerte, the song reached No.2 in the UK spending 11 weeks in the top 10 and seeling 120,000 copies in its first week... Reason I love it: The first time I heard the opening panpipes of the song and saw the obviously excellent video, I knew that this would be a singer I would come to cherish. A unique voice, a completely different sounding song but still catchy as hell...it took over 2 months to reach the top of my chart but that just shows how much it still grows on me...
September 22, 200618 yr Author 27. Fragma feat Maria Rubia-Everytime you need me http://www.eurodancehits.com/fragma_toca.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 2-2-2-2-1-R-1-1-1-2-4-3-5 Info: Another top 3 hit for the German producers Fragma in the UK, this song was a lot more poppy than its predecessor and featured the vocals of UK singer Maria Rubia (who had a minor top 40 hit with Say it in 2001). The song was a huge No.1 in my chart in late 2000/early 2001... Reason I love it: I prefer it to Toca's Miracle in all honesty. Unlike most trance/dance bands Fragma came back with a completely different song almost a year later and it worked...A very catchy slice of Europop, its follow up You Are Alive also topped my chart later in 2001!!! September 22, 200618 yr Author 26. The Corrs-So Young http://www.musicaldiscoveries.com/images/corrsliv.jpg Year: 1998 Chart Run: N/A Info: The first single I was ever bought, The Corrs pop masterpiece So Young was the 29th single ( ) from Talk On Corners and shot into the UK top 10 at No.6 on release...a great singalong song with bright and breezy lyrics, the song is a Corrs classic and is often used in the encore to their concerts!!! Reason I love it: The original is great but 90's dance act K-Klass got their hands on it and did what Tin Tin Out and Todd Terry did for the band...turned it into a hit. The added percussion and perfect timing combined with the luscious melody and Sharon's brilliant violin solo make a near perfect pop song...

ATC-Around the world (la la la la la) http://www.bayreuthmagazin.net/b/g/atc.jpg Year: 2002 Chart Run: 1-R-3-2-1-1-1-1-1-5-3 Info: A mixed sex band comprising of members from the UK, Australia, Italy and New Zealand, ATC or A Touch of Class released this song in summer 2000 across Europe but it was 2 years later when it reached the UK, making No.15... Reason I love it: I loved it in 2000 and I loved the new remix in 2002...a great slice of europop with a gorgeous xylophone background and fun video, I played this song for my music coursework in year 10/11 and it gave me a B grade lol!!! It managed 6 weeks atop my chart :-) Edited September 25, 200618 yr by gooddelta
September 25, 200618 yr Author 24. Delta Goodrem-Mistaken Identity http://www.musicbeat.de/fullbeat/archiv/bandfotos/delta_goodrem.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 1-3-4-2-4-4-4-5-3 Info: The title track of Delta's second and darker album, this was the most instant song for me on the album hence its entry at No.1...a single in Australia, it reached No.7 there and broke her string of No.1's, the singer criticised for stepping out of her pop bubble with this lyrically dark song about her battle with cancer... Reason I love it: From the spiralling piano introduction, this is a dramatic song which has a suitably dramatic video. Her voice is on top form throughout and the climax is immense. It stayed in my top 10 for months and appeared in my top 40 of 2004 and 2005!!!
September 25, 200618 yr Author 23. Madonna-Hung Up http://www.luksusblog.com/images/hungup.jpg Year: 2005 Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-2-5-5-3-4-1-4 Info: I was never a fan of Madonna but Hung Up changed that. From the second I heard it it screamed No.1 and stormed to the top of my chart instantly. It was a No.1 worldwide and one of the biggest selling singles of 2005...another successful career re-invention for the queen of pop!!! Reason I love it: An amazing fusion of dance and pop, it used Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme to perfection and producer Staurt Hall freshened it up for the 2005 audience...one of the greatest dance songs of all time it spent 6 weeks at my No.1 in total... Edited September 25, 200618 yr by gooddelta
September 25, 200618 yr Omg that Aurora song is so amazing! I love it loads. Ira Losco is great too.
September 26, 200618 yr Author I know-such a classic :-) Ira is gorgeous-she's still going strong now in Malta! Thanks for the reply David
September 26, 200618 yr Author 22. Ian Van Dahl-Castles In The Sky http://nrgmusic.com/img/interviews/ian_van_dahl/marsha2.jpg Year: 2001 Chart Run: 4-2-2-3-3-4-3-1-3-4-4-5 Info: The debut single from Ian Van Dahl, the Euphoric classic Castles in the sky was sung by Belgian singer Marsha although re-recorded by Annemie Coenen for the album...A classic anthem, it stayed in the UK top 10 for 2 months eventually peaking at No.3!!! Reason I love it: The perfect production complements Marsha's haunting vocals perfectly, and it stood out above all other dance songs in summer 2001, perhaps as it wasn't so cheesy...It took 2 months in my top 5 to reach No.1 but remains a favourite of mine to this day!!!
September 26, 200618 yr Author 21. Vanessa Amorosi-Absolutely Everybody http://www.chart-radio.de/img/galerie/vanessaamorosi1.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 3-R-2-1 Info: A forgotten pop gem from Autumn 2000, Australian superstar Vanessa Amorosi performed at the Sydney olympics in 2000 and had tons of hits in her homeland. This first and only UK single was a No.7 hit and the follow up Shine was never released, although the whole album was great!!! Reason I love it: It had a distinctly different feel to all the other pop records at the time. She had an incredibly strong voice, the video was fun and it was an Australian female who wasn't from Neighbours-quite a feat-quite simply one of my best pop songs of all time!!!
September 26, 200618 yr Author 20. Delta Goodrem-Born To Try http://graphics.sonymusic.com.au/gallery/medium/DeltaGoodrem106.jpg Year: 2003 Chart Run: 1-1-2-2-1-2-3-R-2-1-5 Info: Into the top 20 we go with the debut single from Delta...Born to try is a simple but effective piano ballad with a great and memorable chorus breaking into a massive climax (and key change) at the end where she really shows the power of her voice. It made No.3 in the UK on its debut... Reason I love it: The first time I heard this song I was blown away...I didn't watch Neighbours so I'd never heard of Delta but she was gorgeous, an amazing singer and the song was great-so great that it climbed back to my No.1 on two further occasions after its first stint...the start of a legend!!!
September 26, 200618 yr Author 19. Missy Higgins-Ten Days http://www.musichead.com.au/fileup/acts/homepageImages/143601.jpg Year: 2005 Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-3-1-3-4-4-4-5 Info: Its back to Australia again, this time for talented young singer Missy Higgins. Her album The Sound of White is one of Australia's biggest ever, and this single made the top 20 although Scar was a huge No.1 over there...the song only made No.133 here with Scar ending up even lower :-( Reason I love it: A heartfelt and gorgeous ballad with an amazing melody, Missy's unique Australian voice gives it a certain charm which I find irresesistible...the song smashed in at No.1 on my chart and clocked up 6 weeks in total at No.1...a true underrated talent in the UK...I strongly recommend this song...
September 26, 200618 yr Author 18. Delta Goodrem-A Year Ago Today http://www2.zonnet.nl/gallery2/albums/album136/delta_09.jpg Year: 2003 Chart Run: 3-5-R-3-5-3-2-2-4-5-5-5-R-2-5 Info: The highest song in the top 100 not to reach No.1 (it was stopped by a song that's still to come)...The beautiful if very simple album track and ballad A Year Ago Today is one of Delta's most personal tracks and one of my favourite tracks of hers full stop. A video was also made for this track and is on her first DVD... Reason I love it: Its so simple yet breathtaking. She pours her emotion into this track and the power in her voice is evident throughout. It has a brilliant chorus and bridge and the lyrics also have an inspirational quality to them...a true unreleased gem!!!
September 26, 200618 yr Author 17. Delerium feat Sarah McLachlan-Silence http://photos.lacoccinelle.net/02/22/60222.jpg Year: 2000 Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-2-2-3-5 Info: Canadian band Delerium teamed up with fellow Candian superstar Sarah McLachlan to record the haunting almost church sounding Silence...however DJ'S Tiesto and Airscape remixed the song into a classic dance song that stormed into the UK top 3 and remains a classic to this day!!! Reason I love it: From the first time I heard the dance beats clash with Sarah's haunting vocals I knew I would be in for a treat. Not the sort of song you'd expect to be a hit in the UK as Sarah could easily lend her vocals to classical music as they are so unique, it spent a month as my No.1 song!!!
September 27, 200618 yr Author 16. Shapeshifters-Lola's Theme http://www.janvis.nl/images/artiesten/shapeshifters-1.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 4-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-3 Info: An incredible UK house tune from 2004 it had something that other dance songs lacked at the time...it was original, used new vocals on an old (and extremely well chosen) sample and to top it off, it got to No.1 in the UK and became a classic for years to come!!! Reason I love it: It an almost perfect song and the highest house track in this chart. Its so soulful and Cookie's strong vocals are amazing yet at the same time it is a brilliant club track with an unforgettable melody...it stayed at No.1 in my chart for 5 weeks in summer 2004!!!
September 27, 200618 yr Author 15. Sarah McLachlan-World on Fire http://users.marshall.edu/~reach1/sarah_Mclachlan.jpg Year: 2004 Chart Run: 3-1-2-1-1-1-1-3-2-4-R-2-R-1-3 Info: A second appearance in three songs for the massive Canadian singer/songwriter, Sarah took her 2004 album Afterglow to No.2 in America...A striking album, it featured 10 beautiful ballads all with deep lyrics and excellent melodies...this second single is the standout track!!! Reason I love it: From the piano introduction to the lyrics which are emphasised by a low budget ($15) video-you have to see it to understand it. The chorus is catchy and the melody is sublime while Sarah's vocals are perfect as usual. In total it managed six weeks at No.1 on my chart in 2004!!!
September 27, 200618 yr Author 14. ATB-9PM (Till I Come) http://www.kazan.ru/people/photos/fe_atb_1.jpg Year: 1999 Chart Run: 1-1-1-3-5 Info: The song that got me into dance music, 9PM was a fantastic elctronic dance track with very few vocals but one of the most memorable melodies of all time. It got to No.1 in the UK for a fortnight and spawned two follow up top 5 hits!!! A true classic... Reason I love it: Its one of those tracks thats an instant classic. From the moment I heard it on the listening post in Virgin I was hooked and bought it on single literally 2 minutes later. An incredible electronic track with unique bending sounds which became ATB's early trademark it is a true gem!!!
