The moment, if anyone missed it:

Ok, maybe she was trying to be a bit of a smart ass. :( But I don't think she's in the wrong, they'd been referencing the media and newspapers all night, she didn't out him.

Nope she meant no harm but still major cringe. That "joke" flopped big time and it was just totally uncomfortable.

Still Dannii says its fine and Danyl saw the funny side after so hopefully a line can be drawn under it all now!

Statement from Dannii:

"Dannii made a joke about the lyrics of Danyl's song, referencing a recent newspaper interview he has given about his private life. She spoke to Danyl straight after the show, explained what she was talking about and he wasn't offended in the slightest. Dannii is mortified if her comments have been misinterpreted as she has always been hugely supportive of the gay and bi-sexual community for her entire career."

Oh I know, I can hardly watch the footage without cringing.

I don't think her passing it off is a joke is a great idea, I just can't imagine how that'd ever be a funny comment. If he's bisexual he can (obviously) sing about either if he likes and he wouldn't have changed it if he was gay. (though I suppose Will Young recorded "Evergreen" singing about a girl) Either way it's one big case of humour fail, but oh well.

That was an absolute disaster. Very awkward to watch, because you just KNOW where this is now heading.

I don't think she was being homophobic at all, but no she wasn't saying anything that wasn't widely known anyway. But all the same, it was a totally inappropriate comment to make on a live TV show.

I do hope it blows over though. If Dermot can get away with all his gay gags at Louis last year, I don't see why Dannii should suffer for this.

It's all the more saddening though, because I think in recent weeks Dannii had been coming across very well. She's clearly been the one to make the most effort with her contestants at the same time as Cheryl's been going around saying she going to do the exact opposite.

lmao I find Danyl to be disgustingly overrated as it is, I actually thought the whole thing was hilarious... and honestly if Danyl isn't butt hurt about it, then no one else really should either. Dannii has easily been my fav. judge since she started on season four and still will remain so after this. It sucks how underrated she actually is as a judge and even as a recording artist (she puts out good electro-pop/dance music tbh)

I really wanted Rikki to sing "kept his dick wet"

Hi there. I want to clear up exactly what happened on last night's X Factor show and post my sincere apologies to anyone who took offense. I made a comment about Danyl changing the lyrics of his song (And I'm Telling You - Dreamgirls). It was meant to be a humorous moment about the fact he has an opportunity to have fun with his song. An openly bi-sexual singing a song that is lyrically a 'girl's song'. Danyl and I were joking about the very same thing in rehearsals on Friday, so it carried on to the show. I'd like to apologise to anyone that was offended by my comments, it was never my intention. I spoke to Danyl straight after the show last night and he wasn't offended or upset by my comments, and knew exactly what I was saying.

Dx

Hopefully thats the end of it now :)

Hopefully thats the end of it now :)

I hope so, although are most of the people who are up in arms about it even going to read her statement, or see it? :(

Dannii is so sweet  how can she possibly be rude or homophobe?

:cheer:

Shame it'll work 100% in Danyl's favour and just boost his undeserved popularity. :(

Agreed completely.

Hate Danyl now after the direst performance the world's ever seen yesterday. Could he go away now :( He will win though. :'(

Dear God, those people don't even know what's happened. They think they know everything and heard the whole 'sentence' but it was just the beginning.
