October 17, 200915 yr I'm not a fan of Metallica, but I do remember this album was more thrash than their later material. It was raw and there was hardly bass in the songs (until their 4th album 'And Justice For All') and I thought it's passable, but sometimes not accessible IMO... But 'Whiplash' is my fav in the album and 'Motorbreath'. I'll probably listen to this album again, I've only played it about twice or thrice. I forgot now. Edited October 17, 200915 yr by I Am FM11
October 17, 200915 yr There wasn't any bass on Justice at all coz Lars and James weren't sure about Jason Newstead's bass playing and so buried all the bass parts in the mix. I don't know how anyone can say there were no bass parts on the first three albums. Just listen to Cliff Burton's Orion. That bass sound is ever present and provides the deep rhythmic throb that blew me away the first time I heard Master of Puppets. I'd never heard anything so fukkin heavy. Mind you I hadn't heard Slayer at that point. Kill 'Em All was never my fav Metallica album but there are some brilliant tracks on it. It doesn't show the range of the band like their true classic Master of Puppets which I think is one of the best albums of all time.

Except my fav 'tallica album is Ride The Lightning, but only just.

Probably one of the reasons I never really took to "..And Justice"... "Kill Em All" was alright, but unfortunately I'd heard that one after "Master Of Puppets" had become an absolute obsession for me, so, compared to that absolute behemoth of a record, I always felt that K.E.A was rather lacking overall, even though some individual tracks are pretty darn rocking, and you simply cannot argue with the genius that is Cliff Burton's "Anastheasia".... Still, kudos to them for actually recording an album so dirt cheap (it cost something like less than $1000 to produce so I heard)...
