Shoat, your hero JANE isn't much cop with all this bitterness is she? Girl is feeling the absence of Tanya with whom she can get pissed all hours of the day.

Really top-notch episode tonight, if very surreal. That long, slow zoom shot where Pat was being talked at by Janine was really effective. And I knew Roxy would go power-mad! There were just so many giggles throughout the epi to off-set Pat's faltering ticker. Prime example of why it's the best soap on TV.

EastEnders actress Preeya Kalidas has quit the soap after nearly a year in order to pursue a pop career.

 

The 29-year-old - who first appeared on screen in May 2009 as glamorous beautician turned caterer Amira Shah - will reportedly bow out of the show in the summer to release her first single, which is currently being recorded.

 

On New Year's Day, 11.6m viewers tuned in to see her character marry husband Syed (Marc Elliott) in a traditional Muslim ceremony, completely unaware of his gay affair with friend and colleague Christian Clarke (John Partridge).

 

Upon Amira and Syed's return from honeymoon, talk will turn to their starting a family together.

 

An EastEnders spokesperson this morning confirmed to DS: "Preeya will be leaving EastEnders later this year but we will not comment on future storylines as we don't want to spoil the surprise for viewers."

 

A Walford source added: "Preeya's exit is currently being planned and it's bound to be explosive, but what's not known is if she'll be leaving Albert Square alone - or with Syed."

 

Kalidas joined the Walford serial in February last year and has appeared in 64 episodes.

 

Hopefully her exit will be good!

Preeya Kalidas actually released a single a few years ago that made the top 40, I just remembered it. :o

I hope Amira doesn't go to pot before

she leaves because she's been a really enjoyable, well-rounded character thus far.

Had a feeling this would happen tbh :( Shame, I really liked Amira.

Im disappointed about that departure as i really liked amira, im sure her exit will be great though and we have the whole climax to the storyline to look forward to.

Amira. I really like her, although I like the whole Masood clan in general. And I do think there would have been a lot of potential for her after the inevitable Syed/Christian reveal.
