So it's been confirmed another one is fleeing,

Josie Lawrence is off as Manda. Bit of a waste of a character to be honest - COULD have been brilliant, but was left to rot in the background and Lawrence has now ensured there's no chance of her making any mark on the show. Oh well!

So 2010 will be interesting - plenty of cast changes and a new producer.

Gutted shes going and her awful son is staying for his "love triangle" :puke2:

She never deserved to be landed with Minty :(

To be fair, a romance with Minty was a kiss from Death from the off.

I like Minty, but it's clear he's always going to be C-list with the writers. There's a definite hierarchy within the cast.

I'm not sure I agree with that. He had plenty of screen time during the romances with both Hazel and Heather and he definitely grew as a character.

As for Josie going, hardly a surprise. She could've been good but the character was going nowhere, so...

With Bryan Kirkwood set to take over EastEnders- I have a feeling the likes of Minty, Billy & Shirley could end up getting the chop and be replaced with "hunks and babes". :o.
I doubt it. We'll probably see a few more Jacks and Ryans over the next couple of years - utterly pointless eye candy - but I don't think he's aiming to make it into Hollyoaks.

There are some who disagree with you. OH DEAR

I know the Daily Star isn't exactly that reliable, but at the same time, I really wouldn't be all that taken aback if...

I would hope however that Kirkwood would keep any axings to a minimum what with so many people leaving of their own accord anyway. I could really do without Ryans and Jacks.

I loved the way same said to ricky tonight, im doing a runner, she just popped it out like you would say sugar in your tea darling!

Im starting to see where max and the insurance fraud is going, i havnt heard or read spoilers but my bet is tanya will have to diseappear to remain safe while max gets things sorted and safe again, this is the only way i can see them writing tanya out without breaking them up.

I'm with you Shoat. I'm an occasional EE watcher and I would pack it in altogether if it went all Hollyoaks. Hollyoaks is one of the worst shows to ever be created in my honest opinion. I'm very sceptical of Kirkwood's takeover...

I don't mind eye candy as long as they have some depth to them and arent just there for show.

I have to admit I actually enjoy Hollyoaks in a trashy way. The thing is Hollyoaks makes no pretence that it's about pretty young things, it does what it does well.

Eastenders however is NOT supposed to be about pretty young things, and Hollyoaks can get away with, Eastenders can't.

The other issue is that a lot of EE's iconic characters are the older crew, the Pats, the Ians, the Dots, the Phils. If Kirkwood abandons them in favour of Mercedes McQueen, the show will just crash.

In fairness Mercedes is pretty sensational as gobshites go. EE needs more northern trash. It's not like the Capital is exclusive to Southerners!

Eastenders turning into Hollyoaks?

As if!

Actor Devon Anderson is to reprise his role as Billie Jackson, Digital Spy can confirm.

The 22-year-old, who originally played the character for six years from 1993 and 1997, makes his screen comeback at the same time as the rest of the Jackson clan in the early part of the New Year.

Last month, it was announced that the Jackson family - comprising Carol (Lindsey Coulson), Sonia (Natalie Cassidy), Robbie (Dean Gaffney) and Billie - would be reunited on screen ahead of the Walford soap's 25th anniversary. At the time, however, the casting of Billie had yet to be finalised.

Speaking of his comeback, Anderson said: "I'm really happy to be back at EastEnders playing the role of Billie Jackson again. It was my first acting role and I can't wait to get started again."

He continued: "It is also very exciting that all of the Jackson family will be reunited and I’m sure that will be eventful for the viewers."

Executive producer Diederick Santer commented: "Viewers will remember Devon as the original Billie Jackson, the cute kid with the big hair. Devon, like Billie, is all grown up, and 12 years on, I'm delighted to welcome this talented young actor back to the show."

Of the character's return, a Walford source told DS: "Billie's become a young man since the last time we saw him - he might even referred to by his proper name Will. He's still the apple of his mother's eye but is he the angelic family man she wants him to be?"

Billie was written out of the East-End serial in October 1997 when he and his screen family was placed in witness protection following his kidnapping. The character - played briefly by stand in Bluey Robinson - then made a short return to the Square in 2004 for Sonia's wedding to Martin (James Alexandrou).

In real life, Anderson went on to appear as Sonny Valentine in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks. He mysteriously disappeared from the programme's storylines in 2007. It was subsequently reported that he was axed by the producer at the time Bryan Kirkwood over "alleged timekeeping issues".

Coincidentally, current EastEnders exec Diederick Santer is to be replaced by Kirkwood on February 20.

I wonder if Kirkwood will keep him on.

Oh GOD.

I can understand Carol, Sonia and Robbie coming back - they were loved characters. Billy they could easily have done without, and I'm not sure why Anderson has been given this second chance by Kirkwood - even before he was axed he was AWFUL.

It's not Kirkwook who has bought him back- it's Santer.

And Billy is just returning for the wedding, am I right? The only one staying is Carol?

I've a feeling Billie will be hanging around - if Kirkwood does want him.

Even though Robbie/Sonia are just back for the wedding I think it will be like Janine at Franks funeral - initial appearance and permanent return after it.

I can understand Carol, Sonia and Robbie coming back - they were loved characters.

Was Robbie, really? He was only loved in the Gus sense, ie. pitied for being such a loser, unless I'm desperately out of touch.

Anyway I've never seen him in Hollyoaks but the guy who plays Billie (curse that retarded femme spelling!) is pretty daym hot!

Personnely robbie was annoying as he had no major part in the show, i love sonia and carol and would love them to stay around, billie i will have to wait and see as he was only a kid before so we will have to see what he is like, but i hope robbie goes again.

No, Robbie was a similar loser-type character, but probably more Billy Mitchell than Gus - he was one of the more recognisable faces on the show at the time I think?
