Robbie's dream space launch

The Sun

16th February

SELF-confessed UFO fanatic ROBBIE WILLIAMS has taken another small step towards meeting little green men - by stepping into a space suit for the video of new single Morning Sun.

Robbie, who will pick up the Brits Outstanding Contribution Award, is planning an out-of-this-world finale at tonight's show.

He will salute former bandmates TAKE THAT by slotting the boy band's hit Everything Changes But You into his set, which also features Angels and Millennium.

And the teetotal star proved he doesn't have astronomical demands when it came to his backstage rider.

He asked for Haribo liquorice sweets, herbal teas and water.

At rehearsals Robbie chatted with PETER ANDRE after spotting him in the bar and yelling: "I'm on Team Andre!"

Grr, I should've been put in charge of his setlist - everything changes? Millenium? Nooooooooooo. A snippet of EC will be ok but do not waste a whole 4 minutes when there are dozens of singles more suited. And Millenium is so stale live these days - I demand LMEY, Bodies, Feel, Angels - then add in some Supreme and Rock DJ for good measure. I'd love Come Undone and No Regrets as well but they are not the type of tracks that would fit into a medley.

Roll on tonight - I have just hopeing it will be up there with his amazing Live 8 performance and not down there with the first X Factor one, in terms of reaction. :P

I don't think he should include Everything Changes at all. It seems a bit too 'cheesey' alongside all this 'best mates' stuff. Besides ... Gary sings it better.

It was bound to happen, Robbie singing a TT song, it's ok with me, it is part of his life.

Matter of opinion to who sings it better.

Perhaps you'd rather him singing No Regrets Norma ;)

Really looking forward to tonight, I'ld like to see him sing LMEY, Rock DJ, Come Undone, Angels

Nah, I have always found EC one of the few TT songs not on a the bland side, and alot of that is due to Robbie's vocal which gave the track a great energy and made it an exciting and quite infectious pop tune. Gary sadly ensures it reverts back over to the blander side of things. :( Either way, I'd agree it is a bit cheesy as a song, and quite dated too - although I think we would both rather it than the horrid Could It Be Magic.

I just hope TT don't appear during the performance. I will be fuming if that happens. Leave that to some sort of special which I can ignore. :D

And I agree Sparkle - although I don't think Come Undone will feature - although it is arguably his finest hour - it is not that well know by the general public, due to it being banned from the radio and the TV when it came out. Out of any song I want to see the return of the mightly LMEY - the perfect track to blow the roof off the place and he hasnt sung it in so long. I doubt he will do it though, he doesnt seem to like putting vasts amounts of energy into performing these days - which LMEY involves. :P

I do! I want him to do it with all the nasty comments too ... I think I may become a fan then ... it'd mean that he'd be true to himself. Apart from a few 'little girlie Take That fans of the past' no-one in the world buys this 'best pals' nonsense (and I think Gary, Howard and Jason are just as guilty in this). Mark I can believe ... I do honestly feel he is very trusting and genuine.

You're wrong about EC though ... it is one of Take That's weaker songs for me (the recording) partly because of Rob's child-trying to sound like a yank vocal. Well he was only a kid so I suppose so there is an excuse. It becomes a more adult song when sung in a jokey way, and made fun of - by Gary and Howard (a-la the Beautiful World tour version). It is still a pretty naff song though. On the subject of vocals though Rob is a great entertainer ... but as a vocalist he really isn't much better than ordinary. But that is the sign of a great all-round showman - to make the most of a very modest talent.

On you're other post about CIBM - you're right. Done much better when it reverted to the Barry Manilow version later on ... made up for the ... as Gary Barlow said ... bast*rdised version that they had done in the past.

I'll be watching the Winter Olympics though so I'm going to miss it all anyway.

LOL - you do love getting those predictable little digs in don’t you Norma? It never fails to amuse me – especially considering your immense interest in Robbie – you not only claim to dislike him personally but also dislike him as a singer, yet he obviously possesses something that somehow tends to lure you in - go on admit it, you will be glued to ITV come tonight and will later claim you switched over for a minute and just happened to catch his performance – before of course giving your ever so witty verdict :P

I aim to please!

I'll tell you what I do like about Robbie then. When he stops pulling those ridiculous faces ... to look at ... he's a darned attractive man. And that is it! Its just when he opens his mouth it all goes pear-shaped. But ... I have to admit ... Rock DJ gets me on the dancefloor everytime!

After this week though ... I'm afraid my fandom of Take That is over. I do tend to go through phases anyway ... and my love-affair with them has lasted since 2005 (the FTR documentary) ... that is a bloody long time for me. My only enduring love, musically has been ELO and Jeff Lynne. Even Level 42 lasted longer in my affections than Take That. Objectively ... all five of them are idiots if they think a reunion (even a brief one) would work. Other than them all becoming wealthier (rich ... beyond their wildest dreams) I can't see any reason for them doing it.

Norma

I might still pop in here to post though ... it is fun!

Does anyone know if we can watch the Brits online tonight?

Apparently you can via this link although a programe needs to be downloaded. http://angat-pinoy.blogspot.com/2010/01/wa...tream-30th.html

Rob was on both Sky News and BBC being interviewed - and was just on ITV2 Pre-show interview by his ex-fiance Nicole Appleton - he said he hadnt seen her since the 90's and when he kissed her he said she had the same perfume - I doubt Liam Gallagher will enjoy watching that.

He did mention he is doing a 12 minute medley though..

The latest rumour is that Kylie will be presenting him the award - fine by me :D

Me too :yahoo: I hope it's true

I have arrived. He didn't win Best Male then? That Dizzy person won. Never heard a single song of his so can't comment -_-

Paolo should have won (if not Robbie that is)

I thought Kylie or Tom Jones :w00t:

I said that days ago. -_-

I thought that might be a possibility too. Last year the PSBs had the Killers guy as a guest during their medley didn't they?

I think that would be brill, kids would fit very well into a medley with the bonus of seeing Kylie too
