Will Young's sexuality didn't come into Pop Idol, as he kept quiet about it until after his win. Will was almost sexless where as Danyl is more overtly sexual which obviously threatens some people.

As if that's the reason why people aren't voting for him. How bizzare.

People aren't voting for him because he's a smug arse whose utter lack of subtlty and inability to control his warbling is anything but appealling.

Really? I don't find Danyl has shown himself to be particularly camp, aside from singing big diva numbers. Without Dannii's comments and the media stuff, I'm not sure I'd even suspect, but maybe that's me being naive.

I think someone claiming people aren't voting for him because of his sexuality is as ridiculous as whoever it was that said Rachel (or was it Miss Frank?) being bottom two would be a result of the BNP voting in force for the other acts. Then again...Miss Frank and Danyl were bottom two, maybe they did!?!?! After all, they'd be better targetting a group of black girls and a black man who also happens to be bisexual (the BNP would not approve of that either!) than Rachel.

Danyl isn't even black! He's probably of mixed parentage or something like Moroccan descent at a guess.

Oops probably not the most PC comment from me. He's definitely of mixed parentage, his mother is definitely white as we saw their families this week. I think Shar might also be mixed race and Graziella probably is too.

My comment was obviously not to be taken seriously anyway, they obviously weren't in the bottom two because they aren't white.

Is Danyl even mixed race? Personally, I'd come to the conclusion that he was white but just with a dark skin tone.

Regardless, it's clearly a non-factor.

Okay, so people aren't voting for him because of his sexual preferences? Even though people have obviously voted for him on Week One & Week Two. The answer is is that his performance of 'Feelin Good' obviously didn't click with the public. It's nothing to do with sexuality of race.

Not that I believe it makes a difference, but I don't think he was when he won. I remember someone telling me at school and saying how sneaky it was of him.

Danyl obviously doesn't connect with the public enough. I'm so gutted to see Miss Frank go, they were the best act on there imo. It was always going to be a shock week though. We'd have expected Lloyd, Rachel or J&E in the bottom two but it's way too early to forget the cute vote for Lloyd, the novely vote for J&E (it did Eoghan and Same Difference well respectively) and there was essentially a 'save Rachel' campaign this week. (I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't only not bottom two, but she may have been as high as top 5/6 for this week)

On another note, I actually don't mind Westlife's song, I find Daughtry to be a bit Nickleback-lite vocally so this was more pleasant to listen to at least. Disappointed by Michael Bublé, I love that song, but it was so boring.

Sorry to pick up on these comments but Will's sexuality was well known by everyone connected with the show and including members of the press, in particular Mark Frith the then Editor of Heat magazine and the Daily Mail - that wondrous homophobic rag who were on the point of outing Will in a salacious story - which was why he came out for a second time to the whole world.

As he said later being gay is just a part of who he is and, for him, not an issue. . Was he expected to come on stage and say "Hi there I'm William Young and I'm gay" like it's something to 'confess' . Will was already out to his family and friends and his sexuality was no-one's business but his. He entered the competition to be judged on his singing not his sexuality. The fact that his 'revelation' mattered not one iota to his growing fanbase proved absolutely that he was and is loved for being exactly who he is.

If Danyl is not liked imho it certainly isn't because of his sexuality or race. I don't think he is a particularly good performer. Any one of the girls kick him into touch. Ollie tries too hard. For pure vocals I prefer little Joe.

There are enough homophobes in this world that can judge you by your sexuality but i doubt a significant number of them that can influence on votes actually watches X-factor.
such a shame they went, really dint deserve it! I was thinking Llyod was going. now Ill have to have Joe as my fave

Still can't believe Miss Frank were eliminated on what was their best performance :drama:

If we lived in a sane world this wouldn't have happened :(

Ethan, I'm sorry, but you're talking absolutely rubbish. As Munchkin has said, Will was openly gay with Pop Idol, it just hadn't been massively publicised. If it hadn't been for Dannii's comment - I wouldn't have even known Danyl was gay, I hadn't seen it anywhere. And, I stand by what I say, and I believe that Danyl is not being voted for because he really can't sing that well, he takes each song, and, yes, makes it his own, but not in a good way. And, he has such an unlikeable, arrogant personality - that he's bound not to click with the audience. I know I'm only 1 person in the public, but I find him unbearable and he doesn't 'click' with me, so if other people feel like that, and if he doesn't click with the rest of public, then he's not going to get many votes, it's as simple as that. Nothing to do with sexuality, and it's absolutely ridiculous to blame it on racism when we've just had a winner in Alexandra Burke, and Leona Lewis won Series 3...both of which were 'mixed race'. Even JLS made it to the finals last year, who were all mixed race, so blaming it on racism is absolutely ludacris, if I'm being honest with you.

I hate the racism debate and think it is one of the most pathetic excuses for someone not being voted for by the public.

So many people I know acknowledge that Danyl is a good singer but they think he is so unlikeable and arrogant and they also hate how Simon stands after every song he performs. I honestly do not think the American Idol aspect helps either. The voters in this early stage are true fans of reality shows the casual fans don't vote until after half way through the series. Hence, these voters who watched American Idol know that Simon is attempting to turn Danyl into Adam Lambert and failing badly.

I stated in this thread before the results show that a male singer is going to be in the bottom 2 every week as they will be splitting the votes.

My interest in this series has gone way down as Miss Frank were my favourite.

John and Edward may aswell win as none of this lot are ever going to match Leona or Alexandras success they are just terrible.

Danyl isn't even black! He's probably of mixed parentage or something like Moroccan descent at a guess.

Nah he is definitely a half caste you can see from his skin he is a kind of Lewis Hamilton skin tone so he definitely has a black parent

This debate is literally the most pathetic thing i've seen Ethan partake in, and THAT in itself says alot...

Danyl was in the bottom two because his performance was terrible, he's a one trick pony who hits one f***ing high note at the end and Simon has some misguided view he's god's gift to music. He's an arrogant, up his own arse tosspot who needs knocking down a peg or two. While I'm at it, i'd like to say how I found it quite disgusting how simon was CLEARLY pressuring Dannii and Cheryl to vote off Miss Frank, you could SEE Dannii keep looking at Simon whle deciding and that little speech he gave made me want to vomit.

I think Danyl was in the bottom two this week because he never really connects with the audience, he just stands there and sings. I'm really upset that Miss Frank went, they were one of my favourite acts. I was expecting Lloyd to end up in the bottom two, but I forgot that all the young girls vote for him. I was so glad Rachel wasn't in the bottom two this week, it was a big improvement from previous weeks.

She deserves to be in the bottom 2 for her embarrassing over the top fake drama queen act after her song and after she was through to next round, completely over the top

I don't think she was over the top. She was excited after her performance because she got positive comments from the judges, and then when she was through, she got excited because she wasn't in the bottom 2, the first time for her this year.

She was a bit false though. She got fairly good comments from the judges on the first week, but it didn't cause he to lose it like that. I like her though, and I'm glad she stayed for another week. :)

I re-watched this reaction from Rachel and i slightly changed my mind on this. I found some moments pretty amazing LOL. I'd explain that as she'd not show such emotions in the first week obviously, so after that she gets to the bottom 2 two times in a row. If it happens once and you get saved from being booted off it might just be considered as a lucky moment. But this happens again and there is confidence arising. PLUS comments from this week were MUCH better. Especially Simon's. I am certain that among all of the judges contestants wait for Cowell's thoughts in the first place. So that behaviour is understandable for me personally.
