Last year, Alexandra Burke's song "Hallelujah" was declared number 1 single of 2008.

So far, Lady GaGa has the Top 2 lead for 2009, with Poker Face charging out in front with over 800k. Just Dance is not too far behind with over 730k. Cheryl Cole has 293k and Alexandra Burke has 309k. BEP is number 3 of the year so far with just over 640k. Still selling strong and STILL inside the top 10. With the X factor charity single (AGAIN!??!?!?!) releasing next month and the X Factor Winner's Christmas single, I'm wondering. Does Lady GaGa still have a chance at number 1 single of the year or will another single take over? The answer may be simple or difficult than we might think.

I sincerley hope it's Lady GaGa, she obviously deserves it the most.

I'm thinking it'll be her, Cheryl or X Factor Winner ... the other two would be well and truly undeserved imo. BEP have an outside chance too.

I pray to god Gaga has it in the bag.

I will actully give up with the music industry if otherwise, she deserves it more than any of this X-Factor bull$h!t.

Either Cheryl or possibly Leona. I think it'll probably be Cheryl though.
I'm going with the X Factor Finalists - I think it'll sell huge amounts in the first couple of weeks and just pip GaGa and Cheryl by Y/E. With physicals practically nonexistant now I don't think Jamie Archer has a chance...

Jamie Archer?! LMAO. As if he has a chance of winning it! :P

Cheryl doesn't deserve it because it's a fairly weak song, it wouldn't have done half as well if she didn't get the X Factor exposure and GaGa's pretty much sold on the back of it just being a fantastic song. Oh and yeah, Leona's definetly a possibility. We'll see though.

Cheryl could easily get 1 million by the end of the year (using a simple bit of extrapolation) :o

So I think Cheryl, the only other contender is Gaga or the X Factor winner (Gaga favourite IMO).

But leona doesnt deserve it because of her xfactor exposure then right?

Nah she doesn't either really. I'm a big Leona fan but 'Happy' isn't the best comeback.

There's a difference. Cheryl's on every week, as are the contestants, Leona will be performing once, and she won 3 years ago. Just a tad bit different.

I really hope it's Poker Face, but I think the X Factor single will get it. :( The viewing figures for the show are higher than ever this year, so provided a decent song is released and sang well, as Alexandra Burke did last year, then there's no reason why the winning single can't outsell Hallelujah, and unfortunately Poker Face as well. :(

I dont agree, leonas performance to 14million people is crucial exposure. Yes cheryl is on every week but the success of leonas singles, bleeding love, run and happy was and will be because of her xfactor performances.

As if 'Bleeding Love' sold because of X Factor. :P It's just a very strong song, same goes for 'Run' really which many people loved before she performed it on X Factor.
*Prays for a Poker Face performance on X Factor*

Lady Gaga is listed as performing on week 6, on The X Factor, but this is according to Wikipedia. I hope it's true, but I doubt she'd perform 'Poker Face', most likely 'Bad Romance'

OMG, the GaGa is in talks to appear this year!

Bosses are apparently 'desperate' for Gaga to appear, and are already in talks... ! :w00t:

Well, I'm sure she will perform Bad Romance, there is no reason to perfrom any other song, right?

I'm thinking:

01 Poker Face

02 Cheryl

03 BEPs

04 Just Dance

05 X Factor Winner

06 X Factor 12

07 Leona Lewis

08 La Roux

09 Alexandra

10 BEPS [bBP]

Just hope neither the X Factor finalists or winner's single beat Gaga. -_-

I would like to see Lady Gaga there. Pokerface is a brilliant song, but I doubt she'll be there by the end of the year. It will either be X factor winner, Leona's new single, Cheryl Cole or BEP.

Oops, on the topic, I do hope Gaga is No. 1 of 2009 with Poker Face. She is the breakthrough star of 2009, and obviously, everyone loves Poker Face.

Please don't let it be anything related to XFactor, or anything apart from Gaga, in fact *prays*
