I always thought I'd be rooting for Dave to be #1. And I still am! I do completely understand why but it's interesting that this one song from his album has hung around so well and looks to be going to #1 3 months after being released but nothing else from it lasted more than 3 weeks in the top 100 - I will continue to hope that 'No Weapons' might get its moment as a decent hit eventually at least x

I mean you're not wrong on a grand scale (although I do like some pop music!!1), but I think this is the weakest edition of the PFSC Special contests for me to date personally - glad everyone else seems to be enjoying it so much though and I'm more satisfied with my own entry than I have been with my last couple so x As long as I still get a few good songs out of it it's still worth it 😎

I think the main reason for Bruno's back catalogue surging so much is his tour announcement (although ofc that is tied in with him having new material to promote as well).

She had a top 40 hit as recently as 2023 with her Bizarrap session! (Although her last one as lead artist was 'Empire' in 2014).

Oh yes I actually did see that (and even posted about it on SyncTube) but completely blanked on it when going back through the list to try and remember haha. Soup brain x

Love to see The Cure in the top 50, I think they're going to miss out on a reset though sadly but we'll see x Or 'Zootropolis 2' as it's inexplicably called in the UK for some reason. (I thought for a long time those were two different films that just happened to have similar titles lol)

Just means you can send a song that might otherwise be vetoed (within reason, anything toooo well known would still be disallowed, we just ask that you submit a song to one of the mods beforehand with a short description of why you're picking it as it should be a song or artist that is relevant to you / your BJSC nation in some way x)

Which one is this? I was Googling some of the artists as they came up during the listenthrough but I think I missed this one.

Light mode master race (also lol at iOS apparently saying no to Comic Sans and replacing it with a near unreadable font when the entire point of Comic Sans is to be readable) Ahh right - I didn't actually look into that, boo YouTube video titles that don't actually specify what version of the song they're using. (I'm going to sneakily edit the tag in the OP accordingly if that is the case x) Quickly researching on Discogs and I see the original release had a track that was just tagged as 'Remix' but the listed remixers are the two members of Cubic 22 so presumably that is the same version as the one that's now on Apple Music tagged as 'Cubic 22 Remix' ~

(New poll will be up later tonight again x) My votes: 1 Landslide 2 Choosin' Texas 3 I Thought I Saw Your Face Today 4 girl, get up. 5 What You Saying 6 Writing's On The Wall 7 Delete Ya 8 Internet Girl 9 California Rain 10 Basic Being Basic Predictable #1 etc., I actually don't know it that well (did sound vaguely familiar when I relistened but not to the extent I thought it might) but nonetheless definitely immediately see why it's among their classics. 'Choosin' Texas' is easily one of the better country crossover hits we've had, really lovely sounding production on it and don't feel like it falls into the pitfalls of corny songwriting that a lot of mainstream country hits do. The She & Him track was giving me Laufey vibes, very pleasant on the ears x Doechii song is good lyrically and I enjoy the SZA hook but the song overall feels like it's missing something still. Uzi having an inspired sample choice (can't say I ever expected to hear Indila on a charting song) but there's not a lot more to the song than putting that sample on a Jersey club beat, Uzi's own contributions are pretty unsubstantial, could have been a lot better than it was. The ROLE MODEL one is a decent light yeehaw bop but not as memorable for me as 'Sally, When The Wine Runs Out'. 'Delete Ya' is a little bit better than I remember it being but still mid. 'Internet Girl' is bland generic pop that thinks it's being interesting by having a non-sequitur chorus, would genuinely have preferred if it actually was as awful as some people made it out to be as that might at least be noteworthy. James Marriott cosplaying for a generic pop punk song just sounds awkward. 'Basic Being Basic' is still really annoying and really did not need this second chance at charting.
