Friday Chart Predictions
I imagine it'll hold up better than 'expectations' so might yet rise to #2 at least even if it doesn't do it this week. (Heard it on the radio this morning and thought it was pretty boring but I see multiple people saying it's a grower so we'll see x)

Friday Chart Predictions
Not surprised to see Ashe's album not charting, one big viral hit (and one slightly less big one 6 years ago lol) doesn't necessarily translate to people caring about her as an artist and the streaming numbers for the rest of the album clearly reflect that. How mildly amusing that we have a re-entry for an Ash album in the same week though x Zach Bryan only has one top 10 album so an 8 track digital only EP being midweek #10 is a pretty great showing imo - it should hold up decently through the week so fingers crossed it can be a second top 10 album. Looks like hoping for 100k for Fontaines was a bit too optimistic but still already blown past the debut of 'Romance'.

The UK Top 40 singles of the 1980s: listening sessions + polls: next session 25 Oct
Bruce Springsteen - Born In The U.S.A. The Cure - In Between Days The Damned - The Shadow Of Love Madonna - Into The Groove Trans-X - Living On Video The Damned another great discovery this week, also not sure I've heard this version of 'Living On Video' before (I've heard a cover version by Pakito). Next best songs I already knew are Harold Faltermeyer, Tina Turner, The Cult, Dire Straits and Eurythmics and next best discoveries were Elton John, David Bowie and Redskins. I playlisted a similar number of songs overall as the last couple of weeks but had more songs that felt worthy of naming so a higher standard amongst those that I did like, but still a fair bit of mediocrity to wade through.

The Pop Factor: Season 3 • The Six Chair Challenge in Szczecin
Have just listened through the playlist so here are my rankings x womenz: 1 MARINA 2 Sophie Ellis-Bextor 3 Kate Bush 4 Robyn 5 Agnes 6 Adele 7 Zara Larsson 8 Leona Lewis A big divide between the top 4 and the bottom 4 - the Agnes song is actually decent (I remembered it when I heard it, also checked and I ranked it 11th in PFSC so very nearly did vote for it there after all x), the Adele song is ok as well but not really a standout from her, have never been a fan of the last two songs. I forgot how much I liked the Sophie song! Although still an easy win for one of MARINA's best songs x menz: 1 Gary Numan 2 Calvin Harris 3 Sam Fender 4 Tom Grennan 5 Damien Rice 6 Sam Smith 7 Darin 8 HRVY Another big divide here but just between the top 6 and bottom 2 so would have been easy picks to eliminate for me - the Darin song is not terrible but not particularly to my taste either, sounded like an Enrique throwaway. I have actually heard that HRVY song before as it sounded familiar, it's shite. All of the top 6 are good picks, another pretty comfortable 1st place for the old man but yay for the moment Tom Grennan locked in and actually made a banger, and that was a lovely discovery from the Riceman. groopz: 1 Fontaines D.C. 2 Sade 3 Bananarama 4 Depeche Mode 5 New Order 6 Texas 7 Years & Years 8 iamamiwhoami Groups being the best category as per as 'Sunlight' is definitely by far my favourite of the songs that I'd have thrown out, and 'blue blue' is by far my second favourite of them oops. (Though I did think it was the least good yammy song so far, sorry Pavita, I blame the fact she is ESL so maybe try sending a good Brit or American next time eh). Entirely agreeing with Jaz's decisions on this in the end though as it were! The Texas song is in fact another song I do know quite well but just didn't know it was a Texas song lol, not quite as good as 'Black Eyed Boy' but still nice to make that connection. Think these are my favourite songs by both Bananarama (either this or 'Venus') and Sade (not particularly close out of what I know), enough for them to place ahead of also good as ever picks from the two new wavers. Maybe it's premature to rank this Fontaines song 1st among this bunch but I've already been compelled to listen to it on repeat which is not something I do for many songs x

I know FARC did qualify with a deduction but like... surely not x (also I'm not making it through that mismatch of a semi only to come nearly bottom 5 in the final!!!)

I'm calling Bronzil being a dark horse (?) big hit, and my apologies in advance if this just means I'm the obligatory person overhyping them x (it sounds huge to my ears though and I have not thought that about many/most of the Bronzil entries that underperformed predictions. Maybe I'm biased because I personally love it tho)

We all definitely do need to be prepared for this freshness to die off quite hard in tomorrow's update lol (but hopefully will recover a bit after the weekend as it usually does x).
