Money Note is great, went top 5 in my chart  the parent album's brilliant too, topped my chart no less!

had never heard of it before BJSC if I'm honest though :o

I do really like 'Music Hole' but it's a bit patchy in places. Half is excellent though. I hadn't heard it till BJSC either. Still, that's why it can be great! :D

with a bit of a push and Radio 1 a-listing it could easily go top ten in my opinion

it's on iTunes, maybe somebody should perform it on X Factor

I'd hope it would to be honest.

If it was performed on X-Factor people would probably just sit confused that a song they've never heard before is being performed. It's too good for Simon Cowell to appreciate anyway! :drama:

I can remember Robyn topping your 2007 chart, had forgotten about Elbow being #1 in your 2008 end of year but seeing as you still have it in your sig I assumed you must still love it

I have it as my signature do I? I don't have signitures on so had completely forgotten about it. I vaguely remember putting it there...

I shall count down the top 10 tomorrow. Half in the afternoon and then half in the evening.

There is one song from 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 & 2009 and 3 from 2003!!

Three were pretty big hits in the UK, four were ok sized hits and three had little-no impact.

yes  I thought you just loved it too much to change it

Hello... just wanted to pop in and say that I am still following and liking pretty much everything in your top 50.

I will continue to comment properly at some point - I have my bet on what I expect to be #1 too... so pleased that the #1 of 2007 has made the top 10.

Oh and LOVING the inclusion of Deerhunter, Gang Gang Dance and PNAU :disco:

edit: urgh at lack of :disco: / :mark: :(

012 Camille 'Money Note' (#2 of 2008)

A song about the 'Money Note', a part of a song usually regarded as the most dramatic or emotional moment, often when reaching the highest note. As such she parodies the likes of Mariah, Celine and Whitney ("and Dolly Parton wrote it, and Whitney Housten stole it" referring to her cover of 'I Will Always Love You', one of the most well known and more obvious money note's) to perfection. Why this didn't hit the money note and become a massive hit I've no idea, it's so wonderful and truly random, six minutes or pure brilliance that only feels like three. The video is amazing but I don't feel the short version does it justice. Meh, I'll post it below anyway, she's fabulous!

I hope VV Brown hit the money note well enough for you to not regret having it in front of Camille all those weeks last year :smoke::heehee:

I hope LeToya hit the money note well enough for you to warrant giving her FOUR MORE POINTS than Robots In Love received in XVII :smoke:

Thanks! I'm not sure whether the number one is particularly obvious or not. My top 5 are all extremely close, and four of them are what I'd say were pretty obvious choices to be top 10 at least...

010 Outkast 'Hey Ya! (#3 of 2003)

One of the decades defining songs? I think so. The impact it made on its release just before Christmas wasn't overly impressive, but as 2004 fell it slowly worked its way up the charts and into peoples minds, peaking in its 12th week of release, something that was pretty much unheard of back then. It was absolutely everywhere at the time and people have said that it got annoying and is one of the most overrated songs of all time. However I think the song is a masterpiece, a rarity of a song that appeals to everyone no matter what genre they're usually into.

009 Animal Collective 'Summertime Clothes' (#1 of 2009)

Whilst 'My Girls' was the most instant song on their album for me, this was the biggest grower on it. Which is perhaps surprising as it's possibly the most accessible song on it. The more I listed to the album the more this song was stuck in my head, it manages to be incredibly catchy but not in the slightest bit annoying. I love how much is going on in the song at any one point and the layered vocals are fantastic. Pure genius.

008 The Postal Service 'Such Great Heights' (#2 of 2003)

I first heard this song at the beginning of 2005 when looking through Last.fm. I wondered how a song I'd never heard of was one of the most listened to songs every week, without fail. I downloaded it to see if it was worthy and it certainly was and it turns out they're a true word of mouth success, with almost zero active promotion. This song spearheaded the future success they had and rightly so. It's a masterpeice, so subtle and endearing.

010 Outkast 'Hey Ya! - Very good.

009 Animal Collective 'Summertime Clothes' - I really should give their album a proper listen, very good.

008 The Postal Service 'Such Great Heights' - AMAZING.

007 Doves 'There Goes The Fear' (#1 of 2002)

Spending three weeks inside the UK top 75, this has one of the shortest chart runs for a top 3 single of all time. But then being deleted after one day on sale was never going to help its cause. It's a song that I've always thought was excellent but it's not until the past 2-3 years I've really appreciated how good it actually is. The radio/video edit is good but the full 7 minute album version is what's really special. I mentioned earlier that they're one of the most underrated bands of the decade, this just proves why. It's a place I can get lost in.

006 Robyn 'With Every Heartbeat' (#1 of 2007)

Just missing out on the top 5 then is the top Swede and top female in the countdown; Robyn, with a little help from Kleerup. I wasn't sure what the fuss with this was when I first heard it but the more I listened to it the better it became and has gone on to become my favourite number one single of all time. It was the last single I bought on physical too... It's pop perfection really, subtle, classy, catchy. The strings are divine.

I'm sad this isn't top 5, but I do love them all more. :(

007 Doves 'There Goes The Fear'

006 Robyn 'With Every Heartbeat'

Both good, Robyn very good.
