It's a shame that Robbie didn't get to number one in the album charts this week,

very possible he could be number 1 next week though I would of thought.

Congratulations to JLS, they must be well pleased.

I don't think it really matters, he'll sell more in the long run.

The album's finally clicked for me. I love it

anybody knows how many copies was sold in Europe, not only in UK?

We won't know due to most countries not giving exact sales. Mediatraffic do estimates for world sales, which will be given on Thursday, however they are often very inaccurate so it is hard to know. The best way of working out album sales in Europe and Globally is by shipments, which is what official figures iinclude from record companies. I expect the album to do 2x Platinum in Europe (2m sales).

Here is the part of the Music Week report thanks to Mikey.

The album sector improved by a mighty 28.29% week-on-week to 2,915,593 sales last week, with JLS just beating Robbie Williams to the number one spot.

Those sales are 11.12% above same week 2008 sales of 2,621,647, and the highest tally for 45 weeks.

Much of its buoyancy came from the battle for number one honours between JLS and Robbie Williams. Trailing behind Williams in early sales flashes, JLS eventually overhauled him, with their introductory, self-titled album debuting at number one on sales of 239,643 – just 0.64% more than Williams’ Reality Killed The Video Star sold to take second place, and the highest weekly sale of any album so far this year.

The JLS album also secured the highest first-week sales for a debut album since The Arctic Monkeys’ Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not sold 363,735 copies to debut at number one on 4 February 2006.

While a number one placing for Williams – his ninth as a solo act – would surely have been welcome, he can at least take solace from the fact that Reality Killed The Video Star’s first week sales of 238,126 were 61.73% above the 147,236 copies his last album, Rudebox, sold when it debuted at number one in 2006.

Williams’ previous first-week tallies are as follows: Intensive Care (373,832, 2005), Greatest Hits (320,081, 2004), Live At Knebworth (117,863, 2003), Escapology (264,104, 2002), Swing When You’re Winning (295,024, 2001), Sing When You’re Winning (313,585, 2000), I’ve Been Expecting You (131,836, 1998), Life Thru A Lens (14,533, 1997).

Williams has sold 16,337,036 albums since launching his solo career a little over 12 years ago – more than any other act in the same timeframe. Reality Killed The Video Star’s sales last week were the highest for a number two album since James Blunt’s Back To Bedlam sold 273,183 copies to claim runners-up slot in the last chart of 2005.

Im sure many fans r disappointed him missing out on number 1 but his sales are excellent which is the important thing.

I'm not going to read the tabloids, I can imagine what they are saying about his album

not getting to number 1.

Anyway, on a lighter note, latest blog from Robbie

Robbie's Latest Blog: "What a Brilliant week... How close was that?"

What a Brilliant week....The children in need gig was the most fun I've

had in a long time....So was loose women

Such a nice vibe back stage....

And the race to number 1 in the UK?

Didn't quite do it fell short by about 1,500 ..How close was that?

I called Marvin to talk to the JLS boys and sent my congratulations. They were

really chuffed and it made me feel good for them...

I was semi gutted for half an hour because I know how hard everyone's

worked...from EMI to Management to all of you that supported me and

bought the record....

Then I saw the bigger picture and realised what an amazing week it's

been ....The album's doing amazingly well all over the world

and I'm very grateful and touched by all the support

Thankyou,thankyou thankyou......

and thankyou x

P.S I get the feeling for the most part you really dig the album..and

That's the best part of my job right there...... ; )

Great Blog. I am glad he took it well - but I am suprised he said how hard EMI worked? Both Bodies and the album wouldve sailed to #1 if it wasnt for EMI's typically awful timing.

The good news is that the media are thankfully reporting it all quite fairly apart from those two so far. :o

The album wont make #1 this week either but sales are good. It should sell about 80K this week, maybe more with the CIN being screened on Thursday.

1 Leona Lewis 50k

2 JLS 37.2k

3 Robbie Williams 31.1k

4 Queen 25k

5 N-Dubz 19.2k

Also, Norah Jones and Ronan Keating are only Top 30 and Fiddy is top 20.

JLS: 'Our number one album was a scam'

Tuesday, November 17 2009, 16:08 GMT

Digitalspy.co.uk

By David Balls, Music Reporter

JLS have claimed that they managed to beat Robbie Williams to number one because they released their self-titled debut album with five different covers.

The record, which shifted over 200,000 copies in just one week, was issued with four different coloured individual covers of the band members and one group shot.

"I'm sure some die-hard fans bought all five versions," Marvin Humes told the Daily Star.

"But then there will be some that could not afford them all so they just got their favourite member."

The group admitted that they think band member Aston Merrygold's cover will have sold the most copies.

"He has sold the most hoodies and T-shirts so I'm betting the blue copies with Aston sold out the most because he's a young, cute stud," Humes said.

"We do take the mickey out of him but I'm sure he's very popular with the fans."

According to midweek sales figures, Leona Lewis is on course to topple JLS from the top spot on Sunday with her new album Echo.

These figures include Sunday sales or not?

Yes,, they include Sunday. Also Leona's digital sales from Sunday are included. Todays update puts Robbie in danger of being overtaken by Queen (surely every UK household who likes Queen already have the GH hits album?). Queen will prob have overtaken him by tomorrow but with CIN he will hopefully pull ahead by Sunday back to #3 or #2.

1 Leona Lewis 75.7k

2 JLS 54.6k

3 Robbie Williams 41.8k

4 Queen 41.4k

I can understand Queen fans buying anything that comes out by them....remember that RobbiesG Hits has been up & down the charts so many times in the last number of years & really overall the quantities of albums being sold now to even chart are very low....

UK still has one of the biggest markets... and its not that affected by illegal downloads i guess.. i think in 2 years the us and british music market will have equaled.. lol.. just at the top 10 albums in the uk (almost same sales as the us top 10...) especially during xmas season...

Does anyone have the units sold for downloads for RKTVS........

I was reading an article in Billboard & Michael Jackson had sold 71k units of the single Thriller .... & Marilyn Masnon sold 6 k of ' This Is Halloween' that is true :)

Again im totally shicked by the irish charts this week, number 6 debut last week for the album and this week drops 8 places to number 14.
