i love how successful the reality era has become.

730,000 copies sold in 7 weeks is impressive. Robbie is back in the UK with a huge hit album.

Susan Boyle Still No. 1 On Euro Chart

December 26, 2009 - Global | Retail | Rock and Pop

By Paul Sexton, London

The Christmas editions of Billboard's pan-European charts show Susan Boyle holding the region's best-selling album for a third week with "I Dreamed A Dream" (Syco Music/Sony Music Entertainment) and Black Eyed Peas leading Hot 100 Singles for a fourth time with "Meet Me Halfway" (Interscope/Universal).

"Dream" tumbles 1-2 in Ireland, 3-5 in Sweden and 3-10 in Germany. It's stable at No. 2 in Holland, No. 5 in Norway, No. 7 in Austria, No. 4 in the Belgian region of Flanders and No. 10 in neighboring Wallony.

Boyle is pursued by a former European Albums leader, Robbie Williams' "Reality Killed The Video Star" (Virgin/EMI), which is back up 3-2 after reviving 10-5 in Denmark and 11-6 in the United Kingdom. It's still at No. 2 in Germany and Switzerland and No. 8 in Austria, but down 7-8 in Holland.

"Meet Me Halfway" continues its European Hot 100 Singles reign with the help of another week at No. 1 in Flanders and climbs of 2-1 in Wallony, 9-4 in Italy, 5-4 in Austria and 13-9 in Denmark. It's at No. 2 again in Germany, where Universal has the top nine titles, with Keri Hilson's "I Like" new at No. 1. That's also in at No. 7 in Austria, for a No. 8 start on Hot 100 Singles.

Meanwhile Black Eyed Peas' parent album, "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)," is still going strong in week 28 on European Albums, with a 5-3 climb. It's up 2-1 in France, 9-5 in Wallony and 14-9 in Flanders. Another long-server, Lady Gaga's "The Fame" (Interscope/Universal), which has been riding European Albums for 49 weeks since its release in January, dips 2-4, despite climbing 5-3 in Austria, 4-3 in Germany, 10-8 in Flanders and 14-10 in Denmark.

Midweek sales in the United Kingdom showed Michael Bublé's "Crazy Love" (Reprise/Warner Music) on course to overhaul Boyle at the top of the U.K. chart this Sunday. Meanwhile, it's up 6-5 on European Albums, up 5-1 in Ireland. Michael Jackson's "This Is It" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) slips again, 4-6, even though it's up 3-2 in Flanders and 5-4 in Italy.

There's no change at No. 7 on the pan-European album listing for Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas" (Decca/Universal), which jumps 2-1 in Italy, 3-2 in Finland, 8-7 in Ireland and 17-7 in Holland, and holds at No. 2 in Hungary.

Up one place each overall, to Nos. 8 and 9, are Ich + Ich's "Gute Reise" (Domestic Pop), after another week at No. 1 in Germany, and Norah Jones with "The Fall" (Blue Note/EMI), which is up 3-2 in Wallony and 12-10 in France. Queen's "Absolute Greatest" (Parlophone/EMI) completes the Europe-wide album chart, falling 8-10 overall but improving 9-6 in Hungary

No UK mids this week due to MW being on holidays, however some excellent news. The album is back to #1 in Germany in it's 7th week of release :D :cheer:

Reality in Germany

week 1 - #1

week 2 - #2

week 3 - #2

week 4 - #4

week 5 - #2

week 6 - #2

week 7 - #1

Sales must be near half a million there now with 400K last week and back to #1. Considering how low sales generally are in Germany this year, this really is amazing. Well done Rob and Germany. I think he has a good shot at topping Susan Boyle from the Euro Chart this week now considering she was knocked off the UK #1 by Michael Buble :D

Are the IFPI platinum awards out yet for the final quarter of 2009?

no they are not, but mediatraffic announced their year end chart with reality at #32 and 1,5 million copies sold worldwide in 2009.

the IFPI should certify the album 2x platinum pretty soon.

with maybe 900,000 in UK and 500,000 in Germany and good sales all over the world (soon it'll be 2x plat in australia, too 140,000). I hope REality can sell over 2m copies in the end and ship more than 3,5m...

Mediatraffic's esimates are too low as per usual with Robbie, due to them not estimating high enough in many countries outside the US and the UK where sales are not made available. For instance there is no way it only sold 400K first week globally. They are only guess by mediatraffic as we know, but it is nice to have none the less. What the interesting thing will be is the official IFPI chart. I suspect almost 2.5m copies have been shipped at this stage :D

The album drops out of the top 10 in the UK but only by one place to #11. No sales info yet. Let's hope it can hang around the top 15 for a good few weeks and then get back top 10 around the time of the BRITS.

Simon Cowell is gonna be dead upset over Leona...her album has dropped way down.... :)

#11 for Reality is not that bad, especially when we look at his total sales of 730,000 copies in only 7 weeks.. if this reaches 1m in total sales it must be considered one of his best selling albums cause of the size of the current music market.

i hope that ifpi releases their year end chart soon.

you know me stays in the top 10 at #9!
