November 13, 200915 yr Black Eyed Peas easily. They've released some amazing stuff this year, I remember hearing Boom Boom Pow for the first time and thinking "What the hell is this, this is brilliant" - always a sign of a good song - and deserve a third number 1 to show just how huge they are right now. Whereas Leona is simply one of those identikit Simon Cowell ballads with no originality at all. It'd be great to have at least one non-X Factor number 1 for one between September and January and the BEPs are the only ones who have a chance.
November 13, 200915 yr LL because the song is better. Also, Dizzee Rascal has also had 3 #1s off an album in the download era. Okay, so they were all released before the album, but technically BEP won't be the first to do so.
November 13, 200915 yr Black Eyed Peas. Firstly becuase it's such a better track imo. Secondly, it'll stick a big two fingers up at Simon Cowell.
November 13, 200915 yr I remember hearing Boom Boom Pow for the first time and thinking "What the hell is this, this is brilliant" I thought "What the hell's this; it's awful!!!" While that opinion stuck for BBP, I loved IGF
November 13, 200915 yr I love "Happy", but if "Boom Boom Pow" & "I Gotta Feeling" got to #1, the best song of the three, "Meet Me Halfway", also deserves to get to #1
November 14, 200915 yr Author lol thats what i thought, its mad that geri holds that record. No  Geri's solo material was great.. pop with a disco & jazz feel to it... i luved 'Mi chico latino, 'Look at me', 'It's raining men' and 'Ride it'... pure camp anthems.. :cheer:

I already addressed that issue in my post, please take the time to read it.
November 14, 200915 yr Yes - Geri Halliwell is the British Female Soloist with the most No.1 Singles - 4. And all 4 were terribly weak..... However - they only spent 5 Weeks at No.1 between them. Leona's 3 No.1's have managed 13 Weeks on Top - and 'Happy' would be her 4th No.1, & 14th Week at No.1. (IF it gets to No.1). As it is, no British Female Soloist has spent longer than Leona, at No.1, in the UK Singles Chart. She's beaten only by Madonna - 29 Weeks, Kylie & Whitney - 16 Weeks each, & Doris Day - 15 Weeks. (Olivia Newton John was born in the UK, & has spent 18 Weeks at No.1 - but all 3 of her No.1's were collaberations - 16 Weeks with John Travolta, & 2 Weeks with Electric Light Orchestra). Cher - like Leona - is on 13 No.1 Weeks - one of them with Chrissie Hynde, Neneh Cherry, & Eric Clapton. She gets 15 Weeks, if you add in the 2 Weeks of Sonny & Cher's 'I Got You Babe', from 1965. So, Leona has already spent longer at No.1 than any other British Female Soloist. That includes in the Album Chart too - 8 Weeks at No.1, with 'Spirit'. Edited November 14, 200915 yr by zeus555

Leona definitely holds the singles (13 weeks) and combined (21 weeks) records for most weeks at number 1 by a UK female solo artist however Dido holds the album record as she has spent 17 weeks at number 1 in the album charts with No Angel (7 weeks) and Life For Rent (10 weeks).
November 14, 200915 yr I'm a huge BEP fan but I think it's one of the weakest singles they've released in the UK and a big disappointment after BBP and IGF.
November 14, 200915 yr I'm a huge BEP fan but I think it's one of the weakest singles they've released in the UK and a big disappointment after BBP and IGF. Somehow I don't think so. I think Meet Me Halfway beats both BBP and IGF. ^_^ Edited November 14, 200915 yr by DirtySyko
November 14, 200915 yr 6weeksatnumber7 - Thanks for correcting me. I forgot that Dido has spent 17 Weeks at No.1 in the UK Album Chart. (7 with 'No Angel', & 10 with 'Life For Rent'). So Leona's 8 Weeks, ('Spirit'), are the 2nd most for a UK Female Sololist - both Career-wise, & for an individual Album. Dido has only spent 1 Week at No.1 in the UK Singles Chart - 'Stan' - Eminem (2000). (Uncredited). She's been no higher than No.2 as Dido - 'White Flag', in 2003.
