Posted November 15, 200915 yr I always wonder why is there a need for these roman numerals? Are the really necessary? It just makes things more confusing and slower to interpret. Plus not everyone is very good with roman numerals whilst nearly everyone has a good idea of what numbers are. It's only going to get even more confusing the higher up in numbers we go. I don't know about you guys but I'd take BJSC 21 over BJSC XXI anyday of the week. At least with numbers you can instantly tell which contest it is but with roman numerals you have to think for a bit longer. I've never understood why there's the need to have letters represent contest numbers making it a more awkward, we're not in Ancient Rome people and we're not some fancy high end organisation either. :manson:
November 15, 200915 yr Why Roman Numerals? Because this contest is traditional. Edited November 15, 200915 yr by I Am FM11
November 15, 200915 yr I quite like the Roman Numerals, it's something slightly quirky and different ^_^! Although I used numbers in my National Thread etc. it's still something I quite like in the contest. :D Edited November 15, 200915 yr by Bang_
November 15, 200915 yr Author Why Roman Numerals? Because this contest is traditional. So people are taking tradition over accessibility? :( Traditions are made to be broken sometimes :smoke: I quite like the Roman Numerals, it's something slightly quirky and different ^_^! Although I used numbers in my National Thread etc. it's still something I quite like in the contest. :D It Was quirky and different, but I don't see how it can still be considered quirky and different when it's been used here for so long..... November 15, 200915 yr Author It makes it far more professional imho :P What's professional about BJSC? :P I don't care about professionalism, I just want something more easy and quick to figure out. Anyway this contest is for fun, it doesn't need to be professional, it's not like it's being viewed by business people. I am honestly not sure whether the next contest is BJSC 21 or BJSC 22 :drama: Just so you know, if Dalisska ever wins Buzzjack song contest I'm going to name it in all related threads by the number (Take that :P) Edited November 15, 200915 yr by Sabrewulf238

November 15, 200915 yr Author BJSC X was basically the same as this year's Eurovision thanks you very much -_- What? I don't get what you meant, what was the same? Roman numerals are really started to annoy me, arghhh I just want to write the proper numbers all over my screen  Edited November 15, 200915 yr by Sabrewulf238

November 15, 200915 yr Author to get this joke you must be aware of the fact that I hosted this contest and therefore it was great ;) and what has this got to do with roman numerals....you know...the topic? I just checked online....and BJSC 28 is going to be BJSC XXVIII  It just seems a tad needless to say something with six characters when you could use just two Edited November 15, 200915 yr by Sabrewulf238
November 15, 200915 yr and what has this got to do with roman numerals....you know...the topic? I just checked online....and BJSC 28 is going to be BJSC XXVIII  It just seems a tad needless to say something with six characters when you could use just two because my response to your question was: It makes it far more professional imho tongue.giffollowed by BJSC X was basically the same as this year's Eurovision thanks you very much (the Eurovision being a preofessional/proper/actual contest
November 15, 200915 yr Author because my response to your question was: followed by (the Eurovision being a preofessional/proper/actual contest  But bjsc isn't really a proper/actual contest though(and I don't mean to upset anyone by saying that, it's just how it is)........I mean it is important to everyone here and in the context of the forum it's a proper contest but it's not like it has some sort of social standing or means anything to anyone outside the forum. :( BJSC doesn't need to be professional, who are we trying to impress exactly? Anyway....who said normal numbers were unprofessional? By the way, I don't think eurovision uses roman numerals Tbh the numerals aren't that big a deal for me but it just seems a bit odd....I suppose what I'm trying to say is I thought normal numbers would be more practical. November 15, 200915 yr Well, I suggest you learn to Roman Numerals and then you won't get confused :) It takes all of about 2 seconds more  Why fix something that isn't broken?
November 15, 200915 yr It would be 10 times easier to have normal number tbh.. we sooner or later have to change anyway.. because its going to look stupid when we are at XXVIII or whatever
November 15, 200915 yr Author Well, I suggest you learn to Roman Numerals and then you won't get confused :) It takes all of about 2 seconds more  Why fix something that isn't broken? I do know the basic roman numerals( I means one, V means 5, X means 10 etc) but I don't feel they're necessary and we could survive perfectly fine without them. Plus why take 2 seconds more to understand something when you could say it another way and understand it instantly? That makes no sense. Broken? I wouldn't say it's broken....just very unpractical. November 15, 200915 yr Author Oh I just realized it's BJSC22 now and not BJSC21 :P Really? I could have sworn it was BJSC 21. Which is why I gave a BJSC 21 reference in my first post because I thought it was the upcoming contest.
November 15, 200915 yr Tbh this contest deserves 6 characters :kink: The arabic numbers simply couldn't do it justice.
November 15, 200915 yr Author I've decided if Dalisska ever wins the contest I'm going to reference it in Greek Numerals just to be awkward. :P Edited November 15, 200915 yr by Sabrewulf238
