It's been a pretty dire week for new music, my chart only has 11 new/re-entries this week (I usually have 18-20) and 3 of these are more Kylie tracks :lol:

 

four of the other eight are songs finally making it in from my 'bubbling under' section, leaving a whopping four new entries out of songs that I've heard for the first time this week!

So as you all know Benefit's "Sex Sells" the massive hit from 2002 was confirmed as the official Elëdan's representative song for bjscXX:VIII in Kopecka yesterday. 7 songs were chosen for the final voting to choose the song for Kopecka. (Many old songs feature there due to the fact that the first "'Song of all time' Festivals" (loosely translated from Elëdanese "'Troe Hëgged Ё Yë Narve' Festivaal") are currently taking place in Elëdan, which happen from 4th until 25th of July)

The winner was "Benefit - Sex Sells".

 

HOWEVER

 

after later investigation it was found out that there's been a technical proble and large percentage of votes from one of the contestant's song was magically transferred onto Benefit's account. And the latter ironically benefited from that. It's now been announced that Benefit were ejected from the competition due to cheating as it was confirmed as an 'inside job'.

 

2nd and 3rd places were taken by Artist x and Rasum Seebach, in no particular order. That means the voting is now open again! Exactly 9 days to do that. New songs might also join the voting in the process so it's not only a 2-horse race.

Use Artist X Song Y :kink: it really sounds good on youtube. :magic:

Elëdan withdrawal

 

Elëdan are withdrawing two contests earlier than it's been provisionally set. Of course temporarily. "This has nothing to do with any other country or a return of semis format. We just lost interest in the contest per se". - said the spokesperson of EBJSCC referring to the BJSC ratings within the country.

"Hopefully it will be decided that the whole BJSC will need a break which we believe is a very good thing but we don't want to make ourselves participating which we are doing this month".

 

However it's been decided that Elëdan WILL take part in their 25th contest and then will go on a break that provisionally ends in december of 2010. Only time will tell what is going to happen next. Could it be just the summer holidays effect?!

Yeah i will certainly get back unless BJSC sees its very end during the time i shall be absent which will be not that pleasing tbh :(

Well I really hope that doesn't happen. But the old boys of the contest seem to be losing interest in it... I'm a medium-new-boy and must admit I am somewhat... it's definitely the best online song contest out there. i've tried a couple of others and they're basically terrible :(

I used to be really excited about the contest because I had nothing else in my life :rofl: it was 'I can't wait until next month's BJSC, I need to find another really amazing entry', and now it's more 'oh god, do I have to start looking for another BJSC entry, I don't really have the time or inclination...I might as well just send whatever fairly unknown song is highest in my chart' :lol:

I've already withdrawn from VESC and didn't take part in Unknown Pleasures despite always taking part on it on CHC, and winning the last one in fact. I just don't care that much about things like this anymore clearly :snif: I'm holding out with BJSC just in case the spark comes back if I discover something really amazing and unknown sometime very soon that I couldn't possibly have heard without the contest.

Victory followed by 5th place as a host didn't work for me :snif: I'm just so preoccupied at the moment with reams of lists of things that I have to do and short time frames in which to do everything, and as soon as the BJSC final starts, 'listen to 40 new songs multiple times, many of which I will dislike/not care for' will be added to the list, which slightly fills me with dread at the moment as it's yet another thing to add to my overwhelming 'to do list' :lol: Even the 'old boys' that haven't expressed a waning interest are a LOT less active in this forum than they used to be, which speaks volumes in itself.

 

I could just vote on the recap of course like some people do, but I'd rather take part 100% or not at all...
