December 3, 200915 yr I would laugh too if I was Sepp Blatter. I hate the guy, but come on, asking for a THIRTY THIRD place? The whole idea is ludacris, and even though Ireland have been the victims on injustice, I couldn't help but laugh when I heard what the Irish FA were asking FIFA... I think Ireland should stop chancing their arm now in fairness, we should just accept the bias that carries on in soccar and will continue until we get video reffing.
December 4, 200915 yr Why oh why is John Motson always rolled out for the big tournaments :( He won't be commentating in 2010 i'm sure? He retired from live commentary after BBC lost the England and FA Cup rights.
December 4, 200915 yr Good draw for England. Could have been a lot worse. Germany and Brazil have by far the toughest groups... not sure which one's worse! Felt a bit sorry for South Africa drawing France!
December 4, 200915 yr Author A - South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France B - Argentina, Nigeria, South Korea, Greece C - England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia D - Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana E - Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon F - Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia G- Brazil, North Korea, Côte D'Ivoire, Ghana H - Spain, Honduras, Chile, Switzerland
December 4, 200915 yr Not one but THREE groups of death: B, D & G! I disagree about Group B being a group of Death as Argentina are not that great as they really sdtruggled to qualify for the World Cup; Nigeria are in rapid decline as an African footballing powerhouse; and Greece will be awkward but unspectacular opponents. I mean if Sotirios Kyrgiakos who has been close to useless for Liverpool this season has 55 caps then how good can they be. Happy with England's draw, but not thrilled with the options of whom we could meet in the Last 16.
December 4, 200915 yr Author Some notes: - South Africa and France were also drawn in the same group in 1998. - Portugal last played against both Brazil and North Korea in 1966. - Australia played against both West and East Germany in 1974. - Argentina, Nigeria and Greece also shared the same group in 1994, with now South Korea instead of Bulgaria. - England only played against the USA in 1950 (and lost!), it never played against Algeria nor Slovenia in WC. - None of the teams in group E and F ever played against each other in WC. - Spain last played against Switzerland in the 1994 round 2 and against Chile in 1950.
December 4, 200915 yr I'm supporting Brazil all the way and hope they win the World Cup and boot England out on the way!
December 4, 200915 yr Based on current FIFA World Rankings: A - South Africa 86, Mexico 15, Uruguay 19, France 7 B - Argentina 8, Nigeria 22, South Korea 52, Greece 12 C - England 9, USA 14, Algeria 28, Slovenia 33 D - Germany 6, Australia 21, Serbia 20, Ghana 37 E - Netherlands 3, Denmark 26, Japan 43, Cameroon 11 F - Italy 4, Paraguay 30, New Zealand 77, Slovakia 34 G - Brazil 2, North Korea 84, Côte D'Ivoire 16, Portugal 5 H - Spain 1, Honduras 38, Chile 17, Switzerland 18 So based on FIFA's current dubious World rankings system if we were to play out the 2010 WC Finals with results decided on highest ranking: Last 16 (Winners highlighted): France v Greece England v Serbia Netherlands v Paraguay Brazil v Chile Argentina v Mexico Germany v USA Italy v Cameroon Spain v Portugal Last 8: France v England (no doubt Thierry Henry will be involved in the deciding goal) Netherlands v Brazil Argentina v Germany Italy v Spain Last 4: France v Brazil Germany v Spain Final: Brazil v Spain Spain win the 2010 World Cup.
December 4, 200915 yr I'm supporting Brazil all the way and hope they win the World Cup and boot England out on the way! Why? :???:
December 4, 200915 yr England have to get past the US squad, and out of their group, first, before the possibility of Brazil.....there's no absolute guarantees they'll even get out of their group....Algeria or Slovenia could easily knock off England, and, with a US win, they won't make it out of the group.... I'm going to go out on a limb, and say US and Algeria move on from group C.....

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say US and Algeria move on from group C..... Have you seen England play football or as you call it over the pond ... soccer under Capello? Even the most pessimistic England supporter can't realistically expect England to fail to qualify out of that group, as it is one of the easiest. Which is why our odds of winning the tournament have shortened from 8/1 to 6/1 in just under 2 hours. World Cup Winner Betfair.com (Latest Odds) Spain 9/2 Fav Brazil 11/2 England 6/1 Argentina 10/1 Italy 12/1 Germany 14/1 Netherlands 14/1 France 16/1 Ivory Coast 28/1 Portugal 33/1 Chile 50/1 Serbia 66/1 Ghana 75/1 Paraguay 80/1 USA 80/1 Mexico 100/1 Cameroon 100/1 Uruguay 120/1 South Africa 120/1 Nigeria 130/1 Denmark 140/1 Australia 150/1 Greece 180/1 Switzerland 280/1 Slovakia 330/1 Slovenia 330/1 Japan 430/1 Algeria 430/1 South Korea 460/1 Honduras 900/1 New Zealand 1000/1 North Korea 1000/1
December 4, 200915 yr Yes, I have seen the English squad play......of late, in my opinion, they have been a bit shoddy in their play......there's no such thing as a sure bet in any group, as any team can beat another..... So, I still go by what I said before, as to who I think will move on from group C, US and Algeria.....
December 4, 200915 yr If England don't win the group then the whole squad should retire from international football. We've been given an easy ride (on paper). The USA have a good squad, but it's nothing compared to England's.

So, I still go by what I said before, as to who I think will move on from group C, US and Algeria..... Shoddy? I'm not even a massive England fan but we've been playing well of late. Even when half of our first team are injured we still look a decent side up against the world's best. I think England thrive against bigger teams, but there's no excuses from not winning the group, let alone finishing runners-up... it'll be England and USA that qualify.
