going for Danyl, think Llyod might slip through the net again
Apparently its Elton/Take That week. Should be interesting. :)

Good choices I think, should be good.

Im really looking forward to the take that and elton week, it will be alot better than da $h!t we had to endure this week with george michael week.

I agree with that ... a lot of songs over the past few weeks I've either never heard of or have been my most hated from the artists. At least I like most of TT's stuff. Is it true though? I find it highly unlikely they'd have a TT theme again - I thought they usually alternated!

I wonder if Joe will be singing Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me again this week http://www.worldcharts.co.uk/images/rotf.gif

For once I agreed with Louie - it is originally an Elton John song - #16 in 1974

As for George Michael he only duetted with Elton on a re-make in 1991

Hopefully we have Danyl and Olly in the bottom two next week with Danyl out.

I don't want Lloyd to go

Ryan is usually reliable with his info, so I guess so! I know what you mean though, it seems uninspired to have it again so soon. I still haven't got Eoghan and his awful "Never Forget" performance out of my mind.

While I don't mind Elton and Take That, neither of them excite me, so I'm not exactly excited for this week.

We all know if was originally an Elton John song, but you're just being pedantic. It may have been a solo top 20 hit in the 70s, but it's the 1991 remake with George Michael that went to #1 and continues to get airplay on commercial radio today.

I have to disagree, as Elton John wrote the song (with Bernie Taupin) and had the original hit version which peaked at USA#2 (and taken from the US#1 album Caribou) in 1974, and went on to win a Grammy for Song Of The Year. It has also appeared as an evergren on Elton John best of albums including (1974's Greatest Hits; 1990's The Very Best Of; 1996's Love Songs; 2002's Greatest Hits 1970-2002; 2007's Rocket Man - The Definitive Hits .... and the Live Albums: 1987's Live In Australia & 2000's One Night Only)

It's a bit like saying Freedom is a Robbie Williams song and not a George Michael song.

But that's all in the USA, where the George Michael duet went on to reach #1 in their chart anyway. I can't find where it won a Grammy either. I know Elton wrote it and the duet with George Michael was a cover, but I think it's easily the more well known version. Looking at Wikipedia, I see that the original went to #2 in the USA, top 20 in Ireland and the UK and top 30 in the Netherlands. While the George Michael duet appears to have gone top 5 in twelve different countries. (seven of these being #1)

It's the duet that I heard first anyway, though I suppose that's no surprise as I was a 90s kid.

I agree with Louis on the rule book for the George Michael week. DLTSGDOM is an Elton song ... NOT a George Michael song ... by any stretch of the imagination. By the same token ... I'm hugely disappointed when they have a Take That week .... when people sing RMF, CIBM or IOTAM ... they're NOT Take That songs. Yes ... Take That did good versions of these songs (with the exception of Could It Be Magic - which apart from the Beautiful World Tour version was sh/te!) but they weren't written by Take That so they are NOT Take That!

PS - after today's news that Louis is no longer going to have any association with Jedward's future career ... anyone in any doubt that Simon INSTRUCTED Louis to choose them for his final three?

I remarked on Don't Let The Sun... in an earlier reply - however I agree with you on Could It Be Magic. It wasn't even just a cover for Take That but it was the second.

Originally Could It Be Magic was a US #6 for Barry Manilow back in 1975 and a UK#25 hit on re-issue in 1978

The first cover was a disco version by Donna Summer UK #40 in 1976 and was her second hit as follow-up to Love To Love You Baby -- IMO the best version

Danyl is going to go this week. His luck has run out. I think he is no way a good a singer as he likes to think he it.

With that kind of thinking what about artists that dont write there own music? Is Umbrella any less of Rhianna's song cause she didn't write it?

Or Whitney Houston's cover of I will always will love you only ever going to be Dolly Parton's song?

others have now leaked:

The only remaining girl of the contest, Stacey, should be singing Something About The Way You Look Tonight by Elton John and Rule The World by Take That.

The first of Cheryl’s two remaining acts, Joe, plans to sing Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word by Elton John and Could It Be Magic by Take That.

Lloyd will be singing I’m Still Standing by Elton John and Million Love Songs by Take That, as earlier reported.

Danyl is rumoured to be singing Your Song by Elton John and Relight My Fire by Take That.

Olly is planning to sing Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting by Elton John and Love Ain’t Here Anymore by Take That.

I think Cheryl has been instructed to give Lloyd complete duds this week to ensure his eviction .... I mean elimination.

Of course having read the Holy Moly - Blind Item this week I think it is for the best if Danyl Leave's Right Now. :D
