I heard Miley Cyrus's 'The Climb' earlier today - it nearly sent me into a Coma!

God, it's boring! It makes 'That's My Goal', & 'A Moment Like This' sound like

the Sex Pistols! (Miley's version was No.11 in the UK, earlier in 2009).

Simon Cowell seems to only like Music that appeals to Granny's & little Girls.

I like some of those Songs too, ('Unchained Melody' etc.), but. the problem is that

such styles of Music are ALL that Simon seems to like!

IF the 'X Factor' Winner, (probably Joe), is to release a Cover of 'The Climb' as a

Single, then I'd rather that anything were No.1 than such sleep inducing garbage!

Thank God none of the 3 Finalists has any chance - at all - of still being successful

in 2012, & beyond - assuming that they can even manage it in 2011!

I do wish the supporters of the garbage, would see that it is manipulative tripe,

that creates nothing except Pop Puppets, short term Acts, & lots of cash for Cowell.

Leona Lewis is about the only decent Act to come out of the Show - with Will Young

being the best from 'Pop Idol'.

I find it incredibly sad that so many people on Chart Forums think that the Show &

Acts are great - they sure must have low standards!

These campaigns always seem pointless to me. They prove nothing in particular? If people are happy with the idea of sending an old song into the charts, then fair play to them I suppose.

We all know Simon won't let go of releasing an X Factor winner single for Christmas week until he decides not to. Judging by what he's said recently, that could be next year, but I'd be surprised if it ended this year. We'll see!

what Ashford said, i'm not quite sure why you are still going on about this Sony thing, for a start, just because Cowell is Sony's parent company, why is that going to make him not care? they arent going to give him money for Rage selling are they, and secondly, all the profits that RATM get themselves, go to Shelter. I'm sorry but since they decided to give to Shelter, just makes me want to buy KITN irrelevant to how much I like it, why should I buy a rather bad kareoke single to give to simon cowells industry killing machine, when I could buy a song that I may already have, but by buying it this time, I stick two fingers up to Cowell and donate to Shelter, I couldnt give the f*** if they are on Epic, who's Simon Cowell's company share the same parent company with, The Sun and The Times are both owned by News Corp, does that mean we should hate The Times because of how poor The Sun is?

Well, actually Chris....Yes.... Mainly because The Times is merely just a better written , p!ss poor Tory-supporting rag with bigger words and more coherent sentences, than The Scum is..... The whole reason I dont have a Sky TV package is because I dont want to give Rupert Murdoch ANY of my money because I find him utterly objectionable.... So, I wouldn't buy The Times either for exactly the same reason....

And I actually DO think that the whole Sony thing is pretty relevant here..... Fair enough, RATM's profits may be going to Charidee, is Sony being so altruisitic.....? I very, VERY much doubt that....

I would also like to ask Xmas Presence if his allegation that the people who are running the "Rage Against the X-Factor" group are also those who supported (P)Rick Astley actually has any evidence and can be backed up.... Now, I'm genuinely curious here, I would like to know..... Because if what Xmas Presence has said can be proven, well, that changes everything for me.....

No doubt if you were a German in Deutschland in 1944, you would believe that it was all Allied propaganda that the Nazis were running concentration camps exterminating Jews and that the cause of the "Just War" was not lost. -_-

Jesus Richard, as someone who introduced the Goebbels/Stalin/Hitler metaphors, to quote the Scottish sketch show "Chewing the Fat" - You've taken that too far mate

I was referring purely to the manipulations of the media and propagandising by Cowell and Clifford, this is something different entirely.....

And, tbh, I think Richie has a point.... Especially with the alternative lyrics he published.... And if what Xmas Presence said can be backed up with fact, well, to quote someone else, this time a certain mr Johnny Rotten

EVER HAD THE FEELING YOU'VE BEEN CHEATED....?

Oh, now come on Richard, Chris... I think the proof is now here for anyone to read for themselves.....

Well, I for one will NOT be supporting this sham, this LIE, this fukkin' FARCE of a campaign anymore..... <_< What does this have to do with "Alternative" or Rock Rebellion..... Prick Astley????? The "singing teaboy"..... Are they having a fukkin' laugh.....????

GO MUPPETS........ This is the ONLY real Anti-Cowell contender now...... Or, heck, Lady Ga Ga..... Why not.....? She aint manufactured by Cowell or Walsh, and she dont need no fake-ass Facebook campaign to get herself noticed........

My first post on this thread, but for anyone that says that a big hitter should have been picked or "download The Muppets instead", isn't that the point of why people are against the X Factor having the Christmas No.1 in the first place? It's the only time of the year when having a No.1 means something more because it is Christmas - a time when anything should have a chance at the top spot and it isn't necessarily about making money. X Factor completely destroys any notion of a fair chart battle.

Backing Gaga, Robbie or even the Muppets for No.1 wouldn't be making a very good case because they too are only in there to make money, and are played on radio all the time. RATM aren't mainstream and are available to download as a result of the band wanting their fans to have access to their music, and not about them wanting to make money. They are an ideal candidate to protest against the X Factor. They may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they are about the only non-commercialist artist that could have gathered the support needed to have any chance at the No.1. Whether that's because it's all in the name is up for debate, but it's no different to the gimmicks that the other artists I mentioned use to sell their records. As much a con as the Big Top 40 is, making people think those 40 songs are the most popular songs that week, when they don't include physical sales and instead use airplay figures for stations that make money from playing those songs.

Don't get me started on downloads - as much a positive they have been to the charts in that they have boosted sales, someone can download the same song in multiple weeks and it gets counted every time. If singles were still only available on CD, I don't think people would be in such a rush to bulk buy with the amount of CD's they would end up with! Music is so disposable nowadays and people download willy-nilly without thinking about what they are buying. Shows like X Factor exploit people, and shouldn't end up with honours such as the Christmas No.1 because of it.

100% agree on this.

Well seeing how RATM are actively supporting the cause, with Tony Morello on the phone on Radio 5Live this morning, then by your logic all their political subversive causes are a sham as well then aren't they?

As are the likes of John Lydon; Radiohead; Manic Street Preachers; Kasabian; Damon Albarn; Jarvis Cocker; etc who are encouraging people to buy the RATM record then aren't they?

I think you are forgetting that with the Punk movement the Sex Pistols were signed to Virgin; The Clash were signed to CBS (Sony); The Jam were signed to Polydor; etc which contradicts the whole Do It Yourself ethos does it not?

As John Lennon once said: "the most effectively way to create a revolution or change is from within the system"

Remember to start downloading anything other than the X Factor winner song after 7pm tonight - let's make it 7.01 instead :D

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY

You're actually comparing John Lennon to Prick Astley or the two-faced co**su**ers who are running this and the other Facebook campaign.......   You get more and more ridiculous with each post you make on this thread Rich..... How the hell do you go from one year supporting one of Watertw@t's puppets to campaigning for the ONLY REAL band who have any kind of actual integrity...? Answer, you dont, unless you're doing it to make someone, somewhere rich.....

Tom Morello, etc, MAY NOT ACTUALLY KNOW that the same bloke has been involved in both Facebook campaigns..... I rather think that this totally ruins any kind of credibility that this campaign has tbh, CALL ME MR FUSSY.... I have no questions about the honesty and integrity of RATM themselves, or indeed the others, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they cant be themselves duped by a clever liar and manipulator who is (ab)using their good name and good reputation to swell the coffers of Sony Corp on the back of the actual fans of RATM......

Let's look at the evidence shall we.....

Cowell/X-Factor = SyCo = Sony

Killing in the Name Of = Epic = Sony

Prick Astley the Singing Teaboy = RCA = Sony......

Jesus Richard, in the words of RATM themselves WAKE THE FUKK UP!!!!!!!!! To the fact that this is a Sony Stunt to try and fool the REAL Alternative Community into taking part in The Christmas Number One stakes that they normally wouldn't give two sh!ts about.....

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE.....

where's the facebook group gone? it seems to have disappeared for me.

Well, at least Muppets and Ga Ga aren't being run on false and duplicitous "opposing campaigns" to boost the coffers of one particular Corporation.... So, I have considerably less problem with that.... Any REAL fan of Rage Against the Machine should be outraged after being presented with the facts as to the nature of who it is that's running this campaign....

If the campaign itself is being run dishonestly, then it matters not one jot for me how cool the band themselves are and how honest they are.... I think it's been established by Xmas Presence, Richie and others that there is serious doubts as to the FB campaign's motives.... So, while the band themselves are getting into this with the very best of intentions, well, I think we all know that saying regarding what the road to hell is paved with......

I have no beef with RATM or Tom Morello, my beef is 100% with the manipulators running this campaign..... I will NOT be buying into this campaign anymore, because there really is nothing worse than being lied to or cheated.... Especially when people you actually respect are being manipulated too, and being used by serious operators........ The fog has well and truly been lifted for me, pity others cant see the light.....

where's the facebook group gone? it seems to have disappeared for me.

Nooooooooooo I hope Simon Cowell hasn't made facebook shut it down

Anyway people know what to do.
