December 16, 200915 yr You act like all of this is fact Grimly. Xmas Presence actually said a little later on in the thread that he thought the campaign was actually OK. I.e. being run by a normal person and not a Sony puppet.
December 16, 200915 yr I dont even care if 'Fony' are behind it, I just want the satisfaction of a song like Killing in the Name being the most popular song this week, over the $h!te factor. And tbh I stand by anything Morello does, and tbh it's giving money to chairty at the same time. so all good. Well, all I can say is.... ...So much for "Fukk you, I wont do what you tell me".... In a way, you kind of are mate, you're doing exactly what Fony Corp wants.... Taking part in a fake battle as manufactured as one of Cowell's puppets It saddens me as an original fan of RATM to not feel that I can't take part in this, but at the end of the day, I can see it as manipulation because my eyes have been opened to certain facts, this sort of manipulation was everything that the band were against, and sooner or later Tom Morello will see this, and I reckon he'll be as mad as hell about it....
December 16, 200915 yr if rage gets to no1 it will be reported as a failure for cowell and not song though - which is the point of the campaign!
December 16, 200915 yr Author Well, all I can say is.... ...So much for "Fukk you, I wont do what you tell me".... In a way, you kind of are mate, you're doing exactly what Fony Corp wants.... Taking part in a fake battle as manufactured as one of Cowell's puppets yeah but I was backing it originally without having an idea that Sony was behind it, I want it to be number 1 for a different reason.
December 16, 200915 yr Think it was Sony tbh. Oh hilarious..... Fine, dont believe the facts when they're presented to you.. You STILL cant deny that Fony are gonna be the ultimate winners of the "Battle for X-Mas".... That's one pretty important fact that cant be explained away by just crying "Conspiracy Theory"....
December 16, 200915 yr yeah but I was backing it originally without having an idea that Sony was behind it, I want it to be number 1 for a different reason. But they were still "behind" it anyway Chris, you know, what with RATM's back catalogue being on their roster.... None of this could have happened WITHOUT some Fony Corp suit giving the go-ahead for the thing to be released, Facebook Campaign or not..... Which is why I think an original, specially-written-for-X-Mas song done by RATM without any ties to Fony and released through their own website (a'la Trent Reznor who has very little to do with record companies these days..) would have been a lot better....
December 16, 200915 yr Well, this is all part of the Fony Masterplan... A cunning ploy to get the Alternatives who wouldn't normally give a sh"t about the charts or bloody X-Mas No1 to take part in this massive cross-media/viral manipulation... And it's all going supernova now with the release of the Physicals... All the "Joe" fans will be going out, buying up copies of the X-Factor coaster like its going out of fashion, which will prompt another rallying of the RATM fans.... And all the while Fony Corp will be laughing its ass off at how stupid we all are for falling for it..... At first I didnt know that both songs were from the same record company. I agree that Sony have done this as some kind of publicity stunt..probably in an attempt to drive up sales for both songs but lets face it, the x factor song this year isnt selling anywhere near the same amount as previous year's winners. I also think alot of people are buying the Rage song because they dont want x factor to be crowned another christmas no1 and they are sick of the whole thing

December 16, 200915 yr Whenever you say Fony it just makes me think of this: tk9HN7AwlX0 whenever someone says fony im reminded of george michael and his spat with sony and the 'fony' headphones in his video, or did i dream that up lol

(the film more than the book), gives the impression of rebellion and Anti-Corporatism within the film's text, while at the same time actually inversely advertising the things it rebels against.... Anti-Corporatism has become a brand like any other in many ways....
December 16, 200915 yr who cares if sony are behind it, It should matter to someone who claims to be a fan of RATM, especially if the band themselves are being used unwittingly as Fony's pawns.... Should make a real fan angry as hell....
December 16, 200915 yr is this the best chart battle since oasis vs blur lol?? Yes, absolutely.. And another very obvious manipulation.....
December 16, 200915 yr It should matter to someone who claims to be a fan of RATM, especially if the band themselves are being used unwittingly as Fony's pawns.... Should make a real fan angry as hell.... why RATM are getting huge sales from it, a record company is there to promote the artists on its books.

If RATM are really above Epic/Sony in terms of their personal rights, like you have stated in this thread, surely they would of got RATM's permission first.
December 16, 200915 yr Here's Bruno Brookes playing the song uncensored on the UK top 40 by mistake... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLqfg9hFjsE
