That is because the effects of the high altitude really start to kick in around day three. However, FIFA insist that the teams have to train in the stadium the day before the match, meaning that England have had to travel to Mexico City earlier than they would have liked. It also means that they will be getting close to the time when the effects really become a problem. It was less of a problem when Mexico were the only host country as all the teams had plenty of time to acclimatise. It is a much bigger problem this time. Host countries always have an advantage. That can't be helped, but this added advantage for Mexico is arguably blatantly unfair.
