oooo great album

Anyway, wearing my RATM t-shirt today, LONG LIVE MUSIC.

Maybe finally the genericness of the music industry can die, maybe finally simon cowell can f*** off, maybe finally reality tv can end.

Indeed. This was just number one, don't expect Cowell go axe X-factor and sign up some alternative/rock/metal/punk bands/singers on his label

if Cowell signed alternative acts to his label it would show how much of 'oh that is popular so i'll try to make money' c**t he is.

obviously the x factor wont get axed (this year :kink: ) but it shows that people dont believe the bull$h!t. I dont think people got what I said, I didnt mean it literally.

Does anyone know if 'Rage Against the Machine' ever performed "Killing in the Name" on TOTP back in 93?

Aaw the guy is genuinely so cute and nice

Hopefully he can make it to the top this week :)

That's the thing, I do feel sorry for him. But he's just a cog in the Cowell machine, I really genuinely wish him the best, but that won't happen under Cowell. He should go to another label who will hopefully give him a fairer deal than Cowell.

Cowell's deal isn't fair because it's about releasing as many singles and albums as you can, with very little time for touring and little merchandising. The reason? Simple - nearly ALL touring and merchandise profit go to the artist; the vast majority of album and single sales profit goes to the label.

I hope that old withered windbag Louis Walsh was misquoted he is just guaranteeing RAGE another week at No 1.

"He will sell a million singles. I think 'The Climb' will be one of the biggest-selling singles of next year. Besides, it's all about having a career - look at the albums chart. Alexandra Burke, JLS and Leona Lewis have all come from X Factor and sold millions."

Walsh went on to claim that McElderry will eventually shift more albums than Rage Against The Machine, who have released four studio LPs.

"Joe will go on to sell a lot more albums than Rage ever have done. He's going to have a huge career. Missing out on number one this week will not make a difference to his life," he said.

"Rage Against The Machine couldn't fill Wembley now. I think Joe will."

RATM can fill Wembley. I think Joe CAN'T.

he is a moron, I hope Rage do their victory show at Wembley now, and it WILL be packed, when I saw them there were 60-70,000 people, and again the next day in Leeds, I think that is more than wembley, in fact is he just plain stupid they just sold 500+

If Joe has an album that sells more than the first Rage album, I will eat $h!t.

If Louis Walsh wants to say stuff against rage, whatever, but he is just as bad as Bert in here, A.K.A HE HASNT A CLUE WHAT HE IS ON ABOUT.

I think Louis has shown how deluded and clueless he is if he thinks Joe will go on to sell in excess of 15 million albums; including over 6 million copies of their debut album worldwide.

On facebook.

This is my Xmas message to all my friends... but I'm posting it here too:

Hey everyone... Just thought you might like to know this (cos you won't find it in The Sun): RATM are a multi-million, TWO Grammy Award winning band… that anyone with a passing interest in rock (real music made by musicians) actually has been very aware of since the early 1990's. "Rolling Stone" magazine in America, named "Killing In The Name" No.24 in their list of greatest guitar songs. RATM are signed to Epic... so profits do not go to SiCo or Sony, (the album is only distributed by Sony). The song... is an anti racist song referring to police membership of the Klu Klux Klan in the USA and motivated by the death of Rodney King, the black man killed by police... hence "Killing In The Name" (of the cross). I doubt if even Simon Cowell could somehow persuade an estimated 500,000 people to physically go online, part with money and download a 17-year old song... he wishes! This was not what the popular British media would have you think... We did this precisely because we do have our own minds and a free will! Those of us that do not watch X-Factor and love music, actually got up off our butts and did something about the current state of affairs... This is the first time that a single has ever reached No.1 in the UK, on download sales alone... it might seem trivial to you, but you can bet your back side it's made a few people in the record business... sit up and think again! In the past we had The Who, The Stones, even The Beatles... originally, groundbreaking rock bands who created real music, writing and performing their own songs. They broke the mould and paved the way altering our perception of music. Now we seem to have nothing but the manufactured so called "pop" served up by the likes of Simon Cowell. X-Factor is simply glorified Karaoke... and even he, has now conceded, as a result of this campaign, that this so called "pop" is not as popular as he thought. There are thousands of extremely talented artists and musicians in the UK today... who will never get a break simply because their music is no longer deemed by the likes of Cowell and the record business... to be popular. Well... no wonder the record companies are in trouble! I'm sorry, but to describe Joe and X-Factors defeat as by "a mere 50,000 sales" is ridiculous! That's a lot of people... 50,000 more than all those who not only watched and voted for Joe... but plus all those who went out and bought his CD in the shops! There was no RATM single in the shops!!!... Hello??? I'm also sorry, to those of you who think this somehow spoiled your Christmas... but I have to say this: Christmas in my opinion, is now merely another mass-marketing opportunity exploited by big business and has very little to do with anything else! The facebook campaign to get RATM to No.1 in the UK... raised over £60,000 for the charity "Shelter"! It's kind of ironic that both the content and the campaign to get RATM to No 1 ... actually appears to have a lot more to do with the original idea of Christmas than you probably realised! Happy Xmas... man!

couldnt have said that better myself.
One small correction. It's the first single to be Christmas number one on downloads alone.

That's true. Gnarls Barkley etc where #1 on downloads alone, but not at Christmas.
