Catherine Tate is going to be back on our screens this Christmas with her annual festive offering in ‘A Christmas Carol’ on BBC 1.

Tate will be playing the feisty nan who takes-on the part of Scrooge and even her dead husband is supposed to make his TV debut on the one-off special.

Grandson Jamie will of course be played by the talented Matthew Horne along with guest stars Roger Lloyd Pack who played the part of Trigger in ‘Only Fools and Horses as the ghost of Christmas Future, David Tennant as the ghost of Christmas Present and Ben Miller as the ghost of Christmas Past.

After being away from our screens for the past two-years, the 2009 Christmas special looks to be a real treat for all the family as nan gets a taste of her own medicine and the hope that she will mend her ways, if that’s likely, I don’t think so!

I know I'll probably be the only one excited for this but I absolutely love the show and the Nan always had me in stitches. Can't wait for it!

I love Catherine Tate and the Nan is my favourite character! :D can't wait to see it

:w00t: cannot wait. Love The Catherine Tate Show (I have all the scripts).

"What a fucking liberty" genius.

"Am I bovvered?"

I loved the first two series, but series 3 was disappointing.

However the Final Xmas special was hilarious. Especially the nurse with George Michael skits.

I will doubtless watch, at the very least via iPlayer.

The nan is the only decent character and is the only one in the whole show that ever made me laugh so this should be pretty amazing!
That's great. I'm glad she's not over doing it with the who Kath Tate show, but a Xmas special would be nice :)
I was watching an episode of The Catherine Tate Show today and realised that the boy in the "He's a gay man now" sketch is Merlin :o

Tbh, this is the only thing I'm looking forward to that's on TV tomorrow. Still, it should be good as I find her absolutely hilarious. :(

Am I glad I watched this?

It probably helped greatly that it was coming off the back of a patchy The Royle Family Xmas Special (did we really have to see Jim's skidmarks) "Sun is in the sky oh why oh why ...."; and a tired Gavin & Stacey (series 3 is yet another classic TV sitcom proving the Fawlty Towers/The Office formula about say it all in two series and get out on top leaving the audience wanting for more); and don't get me started on how shockingly unfunny the usually brilliant Victoria Wood was on Xmas Eve; but this was the best comedy show on TV on Xmas Day.

I absolutely loved this from start to finish; brilliantly written (perhaps because comedy satire writter on the first two series Charlie Brooker was back on board the writting team); the cameos were brilliant (David Tennant's Scottish Russell Brand impersonation especially); and I loved the last joke at the end with "Tiny Tim".

I think this was the funniest show I have seen on British TV in a long time. Well done Catherine. I hoped it was going to end with her going "what a f***ing liberty, the whole lotta them came in, ate my food"..

Brilliantly done  Had some hilarious moments in it, in particular David Tennant, but also just the ghosts in particular, Tiny Tim and Nan as a child discovering the orange
